Top 5 Revlon products

When it comes to drugstore brands, there is one that that sticks out more than my others for having the best range of all types of products. Revlon excels in foundation (colour stay), lips (butters &lipsticks) and even eyes (grow luscious mascara). It seems as though everything they make, is a best seller.. I agree!

When it comes to lips, their lip butters are incredible! They are pigmented but sheer and they are super moisturising. Because they’re easy to glide on, you can stick these in your handbag and top up on the go. 2 of my favourite shades are the ones below:

20130821-195329.jpg20130821-195214.jpg

20130821-195333.jpg

I’m also crazy about Revlon lipsticks! If you’re looking for MAC lipsticks but don’t want to pay as much for them, Revlon do some great ones and in tonnes of shades! You can often find dupes for colours and finishes that MAC have. This pink lipstick is my absolute fave! I love this colour which is a soft pink that looks really nice and neutral. I love building it up and even rubbing it in for less colour on those days where you want to wear little makeup. It’s super creamy and moisturising. It also wears off beautifully leaving a stain, rather than a scummy white like like some lipsticks do! ** beware.. If you have a moustache, this lipstick will for sure make it look prominent (a lesson learnt for me the hard way).

20130821-195747.jpg

These eyelashes believe it or not, were the first ever eyelashes I bought! I had worn false eyelashes before, after receiving them in monthly beauty boxes but I had never gone out to look for them until I found these! They are the best lashes I’ve ever tried! There are 4 in a pack and they’re well-priced. I love how natural they look on, how the end wings off but, not dramatically and I also like the thin band. I tried these lashes on many people and they all said they loved the way their lashes looked. If you wear fake eyelashes quite a lot, these are definitely super comfortable!

20130821-200101.jpg
* Here’s me wearing the lashes recently

Last but by no means least, a favourite product which I’m sure a tonne of people would agree with me on.. Nail varnishes! Revlon are renowned for their wide range of colours and they also have some good varieties too such as their ‘Top Speed’ and ‘Colourstay’ lines. I really like this pink colour shown below. The pink shade just screams summer! It’s one of those shades that adds a splash if colour without being too neon or daring. It’s a lovely coral pink shade. The consistency is so thick and gel like, that one coat usually does the job for me. It really does dry in no time and I’ve noticed how glossy it looks too!

July Favourites

20130802-171927.jpg

This month has been amazing in so many ways: Ramadhan, weather and most importantly.. WEATHER! :) I can’t help but say that the heat doesn’t affect me in the slightest! And so when the sunshine comes around, I’m all over it! I’ve found some wonderful products this month.. So without further ado, here are my July Favourites:

20130802-171939.jpg

Moschino Cheap and Chic ‘Hippy Fizz’ perfume- £21.98
I got this perfume this time last year whilst on a shopping trip with my mum! I had been transferred to a new location for work and they had a Beauty Bay there! My mum noticed this perfume because of the name and when she picked it up to smell it we both just stared at it in awe! It’s perfect.. I can’t even describe anything like it before! It’s a fresh, fruity, citrus scent and it smells good on so many skins! It lingers for ages.. I mean: spray it on your coat and smell it for weeks! It’s affordable too so a bonus!

20130802-172349.jpg

Benefit ‘Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer’- £24.50
I heard so many good things about this primer that I had to get it when I saw it! When it comes to base makeup, my skin is useless! I can wipe my face after a few hours of wearing makeup and there’ll be nothing on the wipe! I don’t know whether my skin absorbs it or whether it just doesn’t hold it well! However, this primer is revolutionary for me! I wouldn’t quite say a 15 hour hold for my foundation but it’s a lot more than a few hours! It feels a bit greasy when going on your skin but doesn’t look it at all! And because its a stick, no faffing with brushes and stuff.. Just slide it on and blend in your foundation on top! One downside: it clings to dry spots on the face so if you have patches of dryness, it will cling on to and enhance them!

20130802-172401.jpg

Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ mascara- £7.99
I love me some mascara! My lashes are ok-ish. I have length but no curl and volume so I’m always on the hunt for a good mascara! I’m prone to a few layers of mascara too because I like the clumpy look on myself! When Tanya from Pixi2woo raved about this mascara, I knew I wanted it! I can relate to a lot of the skincare and makeup advice she gives because we have really similar skin types! This mascara really does look like false lashes! It has a bristle hair type brush which I don’t mind at all and the shape and liquid is just perfect to start using straight away (usually I have to wait a few months for my mascara to dry out). I love this.. Miss. A.. This one is coming your way!

20130802-173205.jpg

Benefit ‘Boi-ing’ concealer in shade 3- £17.50
When I got this concealer, it was a bit too dark for me because I had matched myself up for the summer months but now it matches, I’m crazy about it! It has such a great texture and the coverage is excellent. Although it creases on me if I don’t set it, it lasts ages and looks flawless! It’s creamy and is best applied with fingers so again.. No faffing with brushes! For the winter months, I’ll definitely get a lighter shade and use it then too!

20130802-173211.jpg

Premae Harmony Moisturising Creme Balm- £27.50
I received this in a glossy box a few months ago and never tried it until this month! It’s a balm, so you would think it has a heavy texture and creamy finish but you’d be wrong! Although it’s a balm, it’s really lightweight and blends into the skin leaving a seamless finish. It looks great underneath foundation because it makes the skin matte yet still smooth! You only need a tiny bit of it so this will last me ages!

20130802-173757.jpg

Topshop lipstick in ‘Crystal’- £9
I got this lipstick a few months ago and I really wanted to try a Topshop lipstick because everyone raves about them! I have to say.. I can understand why! The texture is really creamy and they’re long lasting. They have a fantastic colour range too but I chose the sheer pink with crazy glitter in it. This is a pH adjusting lipstick so will look different on everyone but I’m so pleased about the way it looks on me! It’s affordable and good quality!

20130802-173825.jpg

20130802-173831.jpg

Soap & Glory Cheekmate- £8
When it comes to the summertime, you just want to throw on a blush and hope it stays cause it’s too hot to look colourless and I’m too lazy to reapply.. That’s where stains come in. I’m a big fan of stains and in summer, I love them even more. This S&G one is a gel like consistency and is uber pigmented! You only need a small dot of this stuff and it does the job. It looks natural and leaves your face looking fresh! You can see in the picture how naturally it blends in.

20130802-174559.jpg

20130802-174604.jpg

Bourjois ‘Delice De Soleil’ bronzer in 14- £8.99
This shade bronzer is for olive tanned skin and I love how they say which bronzer is best for which skin. So this bronzer is mostly matte apart from a few shimmers but I can’t see them when I swatch it. It looks great because its not too orange, red or muddy. It’s just a perfect bronze colour which looks natural and lovely! Smells really good too!

Makeup Geek eyeshadow/ Z palette
I’ve saved the best until last here. Welcome to my Z palette! This is basically a magnetic palette which you can put pans into. Be that blush, eyeshadow or whatever, if its got a magnet on it, it’ll go in here! Not only do I love the palette, I love these eyeshadows! These are all Make Up Geek eyeshadows which I got a few months ago! I have a tonne more eyeshadows than this but this is a little neutrals palette I organised! I love all of these colours for summer because they look bronze, shimmery and perfect for creating any look! The eyeshadows are pigmented and so soft and creamy! I feel as though they’re better than MAC and they aren’t half as expensive! The colours:
(Left to right going down)
Corrupt (blackest black in the world)
Peaches and Cream
Cocoa Bear (my favourite)
Glamorous
Latte
Creme Brule
Shimma Shimma
Prom Night
Mocha

20130721-233421.jpg

20130721-233431.jpg

Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie £7.99
A smooth and moisturising pink shade. Although not uber sticky, glitter glistens beautifully in sunlight and is a lovely muted pink without being garish.

20130721-233710.jpg

20130721-233716.jpg

Barry M in TMLP (turn my lips pink)
A melanin changing lip colour that adjusts differently on every person. It’s a moisturising pink colour that goes deeper as you do (when tanning etc) Lasts really well because it’s a stain.

BARGAIN MAKE UP HAUL!!!!

20120824-022828.jpg

Well obviously, it’s that time of the month.. Where a woman wants to do nothing more than shop for make up products which she no way needs, and never even knew she wanted until she saw it on the shelf! Not linked to hormones at all.. Let’s just call it NATURAL to waste money when we’re bored :)

When I got in Boots, I found so many offers on brands and products that I loved! I knew instantly I wanted to post a bargain make up haul! So all the products are on offer! If they’re not on offer.. They’re dirt cheap! You don’t need to have a wallet that weighs a tonne for these babies!!

20120824-022818.jpg
My receipt!

SO! I got a few things.. Originally I went into Boots to find an eye shadow colour that @essiebutton had mentioned on her YouTube channel! I thought it was stunning and as I’m no way ever going to waste money on a MAC eye shadow when I can find a high street priced dupe, I went on the hunt..

20120824-025821.jpg
Shale £12.00

So the first thing I picked up was This nail varnish from Number 17! It’s the magnetic kind that creates a funky metallic look to your nails and since I had never tried one before, I thought I’d go for it!

20120824-023506.jpg
Lilac £5.99

To top off my excitement, Boots had an offer were they were giving a free trio of limited edition ‘Bronze’ make up products if you spent over £5.99! I love 17 products so of course went for it! Inside the box, there was an eye shadow, lip gloss and cream blusher which are all products I love to use! The lip gloss was a nice nude colour and has a little shimmer in but looks gorgeous! More of a brown nude than pink but it looks good on the lips and would definitely look good on a tanned person!

20120824-024005.jpg

The blusher was very disappointing! Has the consistency of a cream eye shadow and the colour is so orange and has a horrible shimmer to it! After trying it on my cheeks, I felt no different so will have to throw that ‘accidentally’ under the bed!

20120824-024424.jpg
Bronze

The last item.. The eye shadow of my dreams! During the rest of the shopping trip, I searched every kiosk for the MAC dupe but never found it until I went home, and this eye shadow greeted my life! It was exactly what I was looking for! It looks über shiny in the pot but on the skin has a lovely metallic feel to it! EXACTLY what I wanted! I love this colour!

20120824-023949.jpg
Statuesque

Rimmel are having a 3 for 2 offer in Boots so I thought I would treat myself! I first picked up the Glam Eyes Day to Night mascara! This really does look nice! I accidentally picked up 002 Brown Black, however, it looks really nice and not as piercing as black mascara so I quite like it! I tried it on straight away although cant give it a proper review, because I already had mascara on!

20120824-023443.jpg
002 Brown Black £7.99

Then, I saw this eye shadow quad and fell in love with the colours! I don’t usually like shimmer or metallics but am at the moment during the sunny weather we’re having here in London so picked it up! It has a gorgeous champagne, bronze, nude peach and dirty blonde colour! They look great by themselves or with matte contouring! They’re really well pigmented too! Apart from the champagne colour which is very dull.. Doesn’t really have strong pigmentation at all!

20120824-023455.jpg
Sun safari £6.99

Lastly, I got this lipgloss! I love pinky colours but nothing too bright and deep pinks are my favourite! I remember I used to have this lipgloss but misplaced it somewhere and I’ve rediscovered it! Not only is the colour great, but the texture isn’t too sticky and it has the most gorgeous glitter particles in it! Doesn’t last very long though but, I’ll definitely try more colours in the future!

20120824-024433.jpg
Captivate me £6.29

I’ve always wanted to try a natural collection blush and so I picked up this one today after I saw it was so inexpensive! This is a gorgeous rosy pink colour and looks great on the cheeks! Has a really soft and satin feel too! Only thing is that it can look quite chalky and can easily blend away! So I would apply a cream product like extra primer, cream highlighter etc. to help it stick!

20120824-023139.jpg
Pink cloud £1.99

Soap and Glory released a make up line a while back and I have never really tried anything major from them! I’ve had a few free samples such as ‘Mother Pucker’ lip gloss and ‘Thick and Fast’ mascara but always wanted to try more! When I saw Boots had an offer for £3 off, I couldn’t resist! I love their body supplies, and I love their make up too!

The Kick Ass Concealer I got in medium and I LOVE IT! It has a very salmon toned colour and a bright under eye concealer too! They actually say the salmon colour should be used as a facial concealer rather than under eye but I would use it as a corrector and apply the lighter shade after to enhance the under eye area! It also has a powder puff, which I LOVE! The translucent powder is so fine and satin like!

20120824-023151.jpg

20120824-023207.jpg
Medium £7.00

The Cheekmate is a lip and cheek stain! You guys know how much I love my Body Shop stain but this has a more creamy consistency! It blends like a dream but I haven’t tested it’s longevity yet! I’ll keep you guys posted!

20120824-023933.jpg
Rosy glow £6.00

I got this brush from Sainsbury’s which is a supermarket like Target! I really wanted a pencil brush but wanted to see whether it suits the way I do my eye make up before I invested in a MAC brush! This cost £3.99 and is dual ended with an angled brush on the other side! I love it! I tested it straight away on a general smoky eye and it looked GREAT! It has a short, stubby and precise tip which helps you get a perfect outer corner and crease going!

20120824-024439.jpg
Smokey eye brush £3.99

That’s the end of the make up haul guys! Clothing haul coming up soon! little tip is when you have a 3 for 2 offer, get products which are priced around the same price! This way you get full use out of the deal!

Just so you guys know, I tried to test this make up straight away after i got it
and I applied as I normally would! I also carried out my evening duties as usual and even had a little nap hence, the real views I have!

It goes to show that if you look for deals, you’ll often find what you’re looking for! I’ll be doing a make up look using these products soon!

20120824-022837.jpg

PURPLE HAZE!

I’ve been absolutely loving purple make up at the moment! Purple has always been my favourite colour but it’s always been something that I enjoy wearing as clothes.. Never on my face.. UNTIL NOW!!

20120807-235948.jpg

I think purple is perhaps the most versatile colour out there! It looks fantastic on darker skins because it compliments rich tones and flatters really pale skin tones by not being overbearing! Word of warning.. If you’re very yellow toned, I wouldn’t wear too much purple cause it can look unflattering with your skin tone as they are opposite colours on the colour wheel!

20120808-000844.jpg

Here’s some of the things I’ve been LOVING!

If any of you have any other suggestions.. Especially a good lilac blush and lipstick combo. Or a really nice purple eye shadow palette, I’d love to know!

20120808-000110.jpg

Barry M nail varnishes are my favourite and I have quite the collection! (I’ll do a blog post on this soon). These are my two favourite colours! They look fantastic any time of the year and I think the lighter purple would look good on any skin tone! Woohoo! P.S. they’re £3.99! SOLD!

20120808-000403.jpg

Next up is a purple toned blush! I know.. It’s crazy! But it’s not overly purple! It’s very mauve toned but looks quite the plum tone on your skin! I think this is one for all my pale friends out there! Use a light hand with this and use a contour colour and blush colour! It’ll look fantastic! Plus.. It’s so cheap! L.A colours can be found at Beauty Base! It’s very affordable and great quality!

20120808-000354.jpg

Rolling up at three is this lovely eye shadow and blush palette from Elizabeth Arden! I actually got this in a gift set but I’m pretty sure all the colours are sold individually! I love the Lilac purple in this palette called ‘Lucky’ and these are so creamy with a satin finish and they have shimmer, so perfect for those special nights out! Also, I like the blushes in here because it makes this quite the portable palette!

20120808-000210.jpg

If you have hazel, green or brown eyes.. PURPLE IS THERE FOR YOU! If you don’t really like eye shadow then go for eye liner cause its a perfect and subtle balance! This one from Fashionista found at Superdrug is perfect because it isn’t über pigmented and is quite subtle! Also.. Look at the packaging.. Everything you need in one small package! I personally would have liked it to be more pigmented but it’s quite build-able! Not bad at all! I’m sure all the Americans out there will also have a dupe colour in Maybelline’s gel eye liner but for us UK folks who don’t get all the colours, this was the nearest gel eye liner I could find at a budget!

20120808-000515.jpg

I’m loving this scent right now! Body Shop had a 50% sale off all orders recently so I took advantage and got a whole gift set with these Moroccan Rose products in probably the most beautiful packaging EVER! P.S. it was gift wrapped in Eid Mubarak packaging! This is a rose scent with a twist.. Kind of has a mature twist on it and smells really ‘sassy’!

20120808-000509.jpg

This is a cheat but I’m loving the blues and purples in the Sleek Ultra Mattes palettes! This is one of my most favourite palettes by them! I’m going crazy over the purple colour blended really subtly in my crease with a pink based champagne colour on the lid (from the Elizabeth Arden palette). It looks fantastic!

20120808-000225.jpg

Purple on the lips is AMAZEBALLS!!! Not only do purple tones such as plums look gorgeous but lilac is such a fantastic twist to pink! I’m dying for a lilac lipstick.. HELP PLEASE! But this lip stain is gorgeous! Amazingly light and doesn’t look pink but definitely gives a different look to your pout!

That’s all for today folks! I’m back tomorrow with my perfume collection!

20120808-000631.jpg

Make up haul!

I’ve been quite a good girl for a while now and not been shopping too much at all! Then recently I have no idea what came over me and LORD HAVE MERCY ON MY CREDIT CARD!

I was watching some videos on YouTube from BeautyCrush and she had the most gorgeous colour on her lips called San Paulo by NYX! Now we don’t get NYX in the UK (.. Even though it’s manufactured here), so I decided to look on eBay and found the most amazingly valuable seller ever! She has FANTASTIC deals for LOADS of American branded make up and ships to the UK for really good value and is so fast! I promised her I’d mention her on here so her user name is Joy017! Definitely check her out because she is a lovely lady :)

BEGIN THE CARNAGE!
NYX soft matte lip creams x 6

20120803-011137.jpg

These are amazing! You can tell from the swatches that their pigmentation is amazing! Now just bare in mind that although they are creams, they do wear off after a while and they turn into regular stains. Do they get stuck in my chapped lips? Yes, the darker colours do but if you top up with lip balm every now and again they’re fine! They’re mega easy to apply with the applicator and a little goes a long way! As well as this, they have so many colours to choose from, you’ll be sure to find one you like.

Revlon just bitten kissable balm stains x 2
Darling Cherie 010
Crush Beguin 005

Ah! Stains! The dreaded word in the world of laundry but a god send in beauty! These are lovely! I especially like the purple shade! It has actually started a revolution of purple with me! I can’t believe how easy purple is to wear on your lips! In fact, I think I’ll do a blog post on purple make up :) these stains have serious staying power and glide on! They get stuck in the chaps of your lips but again.. Lip balm to the rescue! Personally, I love stains and I find them perfect to wear when I’m at work and out and about because of their ease and I really like these! The downside.. Not many colours to choose from which I think people would like.. They have too many stains in the pink family but I think having browns and more nudes would be better!

Body shop
Colourglide lipstick Garnet 22
Colourglide lipstick Sienna 72
Extra virgin mineral peder 202 natural vanilla

20120803-011242.jpg

I love Body Shop and I always have! They always have amazing discounts and their products are such good value for money! These lipsticks are lovely! I especially love Sienna! Definitely a “my lips but better colour” and I love it more cause it only has a subtle sheen to it! It’s lovely to wear day to day! Garnet was a brave choice..
Tip* to sheer out a colour swatch the colour on your hands and kiss it like so..
OR
Swatch the colour on your hand or straight from the bullet, dab it on your lips! Instant sheerness!

The foundation however, was a serious let down! Disappointment isn’t the word! I don’t like how body Shop put shimmer in everything! Although this foundation only has a slight sheen to it, I would have preferred none! Coverage is little to none and the colour.. I can’t tell if it matches cause it hardly covers! I think they should brand this as a setting powder rather than a foundation cause it does better to remove unwanted oily shine.. By adding shimmer.. Make sense??? I don’t know.. Body Shop.. Sort it out please!

Summer make up routine high end…

Continuation from my previous post! Here’s my high end:

  • Definitely need a bit of Chanel somewhere so why not start from the base! Foundation has to be Vitalumiere Aqua cause it’s BRILLIANT! Gives a dewy finish and is very light and wearable during summer!
  • Who needs concealer when Benefit have their Lemon aid! This is meant to be a eye shadow primer but I thinks works really well as a colour corrector too! Concealer can really take the brunt of the heat by melting and creasing so by using just this.. Means you won’t end up looking like a silly billy!
  • People in the US have a good chance of getting more samples and I definitely did when my other half went shopping for me, they have him a MASSIVE bag of free bee’s.. Much to my delight! Inside was a Clinique palette which has two stunning eye shadows from the Come Heather Trio they have released! Use the cream colour all over the lid and the purple as a eye liner, gently pushed into the lash line! MAGNIFICO!
  • Time to contour and there’s nothing else to say other than Chanel’s Soleil Tan De Chanel.. Fin
  • Blush?? How about Nars Orgasm and I got this duo from the Wicked Attraction set which is selling on Asos with a lip gloss, eye shadow primer and eye shadow for a low price.. Might do a review of this gift set at one point
  • Mascara has to be Clinique high Impact and I have the sample size as I don’t get the chance to buy a full size when I keep getting free samples from everywhere! Lucky me :D
  • Lips can be Estée Lauder Crystal Baby which is glossy and gorgeous! A perfect colour for any skin colour.. I PROMISE
  • Finish off your glamorous look with Mac’s lustre drops which I have in the colour Pink Rebel which you can add before or after your foundation
  • Forgot to get it in the original picture but for powder, use Laura Mercier Mineral Powder be it loose of compact (personally I prefer the compact cause it’s easier to use). This powder is quite heavy but when used with a big fluffy brush.. Gives an amazing and long lasting coverage!
  • Have fun you Fab ladies!

    Summer make up routine!

So as some of you may know.. The sunshine has at last arrived in the UK and is set to last a few days and us women, have to adapt our make up in order to not turn into snowmen!

My routine has changed quite a bit as I have normal/combination skin (oily t-zone) and wear a hijab.. The effects of the heat need to take a drastic change on my makeup!

  • Face primer is L’oreal Lumi Magique which has a pearl finish and looks excellent when lightly brushed on the high points of your face under foundation
  • Foundations are Bourjour Healthy Mix Serum (shade 54) and Bourjois Bio Detox (shade 52) which match up to a nice shade and also mix well together giving me a glow but not overly dewy finish
  • Concealerr has to be Vichy Dermablend Concealer which I have fallen in love with! I’m in shade number 11 Porcelain!
  • Eye liner for the winged look is Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Black using their excellent brush which I love! And Avon Supershock in black in my waterline which I think makes light coloured eyes look ultra sexy in the sun!/li>;;;
  • Mascara is Maybelline Illegal Length in black because I don’t want something too thick which will mask my cat eye so choose a lengthening mascara which feminises my eyes
  • On my cheeks I use the Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain in shade 1 which looks like a red translucent liquid in the tube but this FOREVER in the heat and I feel it’s the eat for sunny days
  • Eye shadows are a mix of some of the colours from the the Sleek Au Nataurel palette whereby I mix the 4 middle colours to create a neutral coloured bright eye, highlight the brow bone with the matte white shadow and perhaps use the champagne colour in the inner corners to reflect some sun
  • Lips.. I’m going practical and loving the Body Shop Born Lippy in the Pomegranate flavour which also has the most gorgeous coral tint to it!
  • Thank you to my brother who told me of a Bodyshop treat going on ATM! Enter free50 at the checkout and get 50% off on your shop!

Quite easy to find and affordable products here! Take advantage of 3 for 2s cause there are a lot of same brands here and also.. Keep your eyes peeled for summer sales!

This make up also lasts for AGES and is so effortless! I wear my make up for around 16 hours!!! And it usually stays on quite well and the only thing I touch up on is lip balm! Definitely an easy one! For all you high enders.. I’ll give you alternatives!
P.S. If you want a powder.. Go for Rimmel Stay Matt! It’s really lightweight and comes in a versatile Translucent shade!
