Fe-Blog-Uary Day 7 – Maybelline Baby Skin Review

20140207-210549.jpg

I put up a post recently, showing a haul of all the new make up and beauty products I purchased from Superdrug (A UK drug store) and Maybelline’s Baby Skin was one of the products I bought! There are a tonne of reviews on this stuff but I had to get my opinion in too.. Because it had BLOWN my mind!

I’ve always had the type of skin that absorbs makeup and nothing on my face really lasts well – even when I use a primer. I have ginormous pores that are really noticeable and I don’t always wear foundation! Maybelline’s Baby Skin is a pore erasing primer.. Basically, my dream! I can’t believe how well this makes my make up last.. 18 hours last night! Usually my baby wipe looks clean at the end of the day because my make up has worn off but for the first time in ages, I noticed some blusher and powder on the wipe.. I was shocked!

It’s a really nice and compact sized tube with a nozzle and you squeeze the product out. The product itself is a really thin gel like consistency which I always think feels like suede! It really does fill in pores and and doesn’t feel like anything at all on the skin other than a smooth base and foundation glides on really well! This is a much more affordable version of Benefit’s Porefessional and frankly, I think it’s better! I have oily skin and it controls shine, is so easy to use and you only need a tiny bit.. Basically, I love it! Definitely grab it if you see because it’s a steal at £7.99!

Have you been to the drug store recently? What did you pick up?

L’oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Skin Micellar Solution

L’oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Solution

20131027-165026.jpg
When my BioDerma recently finished (I went through 2 500ml bottles in less than a year), I was so sad! I had never used a cleansing water before and had so badly fallen in love with it! It effortlessly took makeup off and I didn’t think I’d be able to find anything like it!

When the last drop touched my face, I decided to man up and go to boots to have a snoop around all the different cleansers the drugstore had to offer! I knew that some big brands have amazing ones too but I didn’t want to have to pay tonnes of money for something I use everyday! I had a look at No7, Soap & Glory and then finally L’oreal!

When I took my makeup off the first night, I was AMAZED! I had put on a full face of makeup including waterproof eyeliner and this just wiped it off! I was surprised at L’oreal to make such a big brand dupe! I’m not too keen on the packaging because of the way the liquid comes out.. It spews out and often spills. But I love how slimline it is, making it perfect for travel.

20131027-165041.jpg

You can see how it removes makeup. In the swatch shows a cheek stain and waterproof eyeliner and it came off with little or no effort at all. I always use the solution on a baby wipe (Huggies Value Pack- £0.97p) and I wipe my makeup off.

20131029-214422.jpg

It’s fantastic value for money too coming in at a whopping £4.99 for 200ml! And it’s equivalent to Bioderma which costs £9.99 for 250ml! You an get this from any drugstore! Super handy and lovely!

Bella Jane Jewellery.. A unique gift

20130823-194550.jpg

When it comes to presents, I love getting them for people! There’s nothing better in the world in my eyes, than getting someone a small token of appreciation! So when it was time to give my cousin a gift, I knew I had my work cut out!

She’s one of those girls who has everything!

And.. What do you get for someone who has everything? More of what they already have!

And for me.. If you’re a woman, you’ll get jewellery!

I discovered Bella Jane jewellery after watching Pixiwoo. They had on, one of Annabel’s rings and I loved it from the get go! I had a look on her website and found the stuff the perfect sort of gift for a girl! It’s funky, unique and handmade!

Here are the items I bought:

20130823-194905.jpg
*Small heart bracelet

All of these items are sterling silver. Not only are the products lovely, but so is the owner, Annabel. I spoke to her through email and twitter and she was very quick to respond and help me in any way she could! She made the whole experience of buying the jewellery hassle-free and not stressful at all!

Maybelline Baby Lips.. Finally!

20130816-200956.jpg

I had read on a few blogs that Maybelline had finally released their infamous ‘baby lips’ in the UK and I had been keeping my eyes peeled for them but hadn’t seen them until now!

I really wanted to try them because I always seem to have dry lips and I love a bit of tint.. Not to mention anything that smells good, on my lips! These seemed like the perfect token!

20130816-201005.jpg

The packaging seems a bit flimsy and not really the kind that I’d happily whip out when meeting the Queen as its loud and bright (not to mention a bit flimsy) however, I don’t mind! I can tell I’m not paying for packaging because the product is cheap so I understand their thinking!

When choosing the colours I had a choice between Cherry Me and Peaches because they were the only colours that appealed to me however, I wanted to try just the one for now so being an avid fan of the Haribo Cherries, I chose Cherry Me!

Ok.. The smell! I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN! I want to eat it! It has that typical candy cherry scent! If you’ve ever had Cherry Drops, Cherry penny sweets or anything sweet cherry flavoured, you’ll understand! I love the fact that once I’ve got it on my lips and whilst I’m applying, people ask what smells so good!

20130816-201016.jpg

The colour isn’t super pigmented but I like the sheer colour it does have! It’s almost transparent apart from a very light red hue that you notice once you look hard!

The moisturising factor is mediocre! Nothing uber drenching or anything but I like the finish which isn’t super glossy or super matte! You could literally wear this with any makeup look and it would suit adequately!

20130816-201010.jpg

All in all, I’m a big fan! I really like these and I know I’ll get through this ‘Cherry Me’ one in no time! So I’ll be sure to try some more soon!

Baby lips are £2.99 from Boots or Superdrug

July Glossy Box

20130713-220332.jpg

I received my July Glossy Box this month and loved it so much, I thought I’d share what I received, with you!

20130713-220412.jpg

So this months, theme was Summer Splash and my oh my, were the products ready for summer!

The first product is this gorgeous nail varnish from Ciate (the first Ciate product for me) and its in this shade called The Glossip. It’s a lovely coral orange colour perfect for these summer days! It looks lovely with a nice light golden tan! The colour looks fabulous with one thick coat and I love the packaging too!

20130713-220502.jpg

The next product is this Alterna Bamboo Style Boho Waves tousled texture mist!! What a mouthful! I tried this as soon as I got it because it says to apply to damp hair and I had just washed mine! It’s supposed to give you nice beach waves that look effortless. When I applied it, the spray isn’t really a misty haze, more of a semi-squirt which wasn’t that appealing! Then once it had gone in my hair, it felt so strange! Almost like my hair didn’t want to dry because the product was on it. It became frizzy and in areas where I had sprayed a little too close, the spray had collected to form a kind of oily/dampish area which was unusual! I don’t know if it didn’t work on my hair but my barnet has never rejected any product before so I’d be surprised! My hair never really curled at all and although in the areas where I sprayed it too close, my hair had texture, I was unimpressed by this product.

20130713-220517.jpg

I then gravitated towards this product by Anatomicals called Spray Misty for me Facial Spritz! They always have the most quirky names and descriptions on the back! This is supposed to be a facial spray which helps to cool your face leaving you refreshed and glowing! I tried this myself.. Didn’t really notice a difference and then tried it on my mum! My mum was in the kitchen cooking at the time so was very hot and my mum sweats a lot too (cause she drinks a horse full of water everyday). And she said after applying the mist, she never sweat at all! She looked radiant and glowing a few minutes after the spray set in and she loves the smell of lavender! My mum gives it a 6/10!

20130713-220525.jpg

This product is a must for everybody in summer in my eyes.. SPF! Face COOLA classic sunscreen! It’s the cucumber scent and is very refreshing on the skin! Unlike most sunscreens, this never felt sticky at all and really just glided on and then disappeared into my skin. The product wasn’t too thick and didn’t feel sticky at all so I really like this!

20130713-220549.jpg

I’ve truly saved the best until last! These are the Sleek Pout Paints and there are two that come in the Glossy Box! A beautiful bright pink called Pinkini (go on my Instagram to see the Instavideo I did on this) and a gorgeous orange in the shade Lava. I tried this straight away and I loved the way they liked on my lips! Because they’re stains, they don’t budge so I’m tempted to use them on my cheeks too! They’re supposed to mix-able with other colours so some people received silver or blue but you can create your own shades! I’m glad I got the two shades I did though, because I don’t want to live without them now! I previously bought one if these in the shade Minx and was a little disappointed by the colour! It’s UBER pigmented but because they’re oil based, they separate when you don’t use then for a little while.. All the more reason to rock a bright lip everyday!

KIKO Cosmetics haul/ review

20130407-124150.jpg

On the way back to my car when I went shopping on Saturday in Westfield White City, London, I saw a shop which had an amazing eye shadow palette right at the door! It was called KIKO! The shop looked like a softer and less edgier version of Inglot or MAC so I went in to take a closer look the shop and I was really impressed!

I think this shop originates from Milan, Italy and I was so impressed by the price and products, I picked up a few items which I am so happy with!

This eye shadow palette was the first thing I saw! The colours are beautiful and I love the way you can use them wet too as they are designed for that! The pinks are perfect for the spring/summer months! They had a neutral and darker palette too but I loved the versatility of this once. I could use the colours for face highlighters, blush, eye brows as well as eye shadow! They are really well pigmented and the packaging is super cute!

20130407-123925.jpg

The next item I was were these eye liners which were only £3.90 each! That’s less than drug store prices! I had to pick up a few! I love the purple colour which has a purple/ pink glitter and the green looks really nice and subtle! The nib is a felt tip applicator and is so easy to use!

20130407-124030.jpg

20130407-124035.jpg

20130407-124039.jpg

When I was paying at the till, I spotted this highlighter duo and when I swatched it on my hand, it was so creamy and pigmented! I know I’ll use this a lot for highlighting my brows and eyes on summer days so the light can show off the beautiful shimmer of the highlighter!

20130407-124122.jpg

20130407-124128.jpg

These four items came in at £31.60! Bargain!
