Urban Veda Purifying Day Cream

20131024-210341.jpg

When it comes to skin care, I’ve always been one of those people who sticks to whatever works, no matter what the cost or how hard it is to get those products. However, since subscribing to GlossyBox here in the UK, the constant disposal of skin care products never ceases to disappoint in the skincare sector. I receive a tonne of creams and lotions and potions and often try then really hesitantly in case they do more damage than good. However, after realising my skin generally reacts well with new products, I have broadened my horizons and now try the new products willingly.

20131024-210350.jpg

I received a sample of Urban Veda’s purifying day cream in Septembers GlossyBox which I blogged about and instantly fell in love with this stuff! I’ve recently noticed my skin becoming even more oilier than ever before and although it’s irritating, at least I know that my body is releasing in essay oils from itself. I’ve been going crazy looking for a cream that has everything: SPF, moisture, essential oils, vitamins and all in budget!

When this cream came about I fell in love! It is designed to target oil-prone skin and is mattifying .. What more could I ask for? Well it also claims to be pore refining and lightweight! All these things.. CHECK! This cream is amazing! After trying out the sample size, I immediately purchased the day and night cream!

Now I have to be honest and say the night cream is a little too heavy right now, but only because my skin is oily and I think during the winter months, this cream will be perfect! However he day cream is AMAZING! I’ve hooked two other people to this and they love it too!

It’s almost like wiping water on your skin, and it leaves a just-cleansed kind of feeling on your skin! It’s so mattifying, if you apply on an oily area of your skin, you’ll see the shine disappear! It’s super lightweight and the packaging is small and light enough to carry around with you for travelling! I honestly love this cream! It’s the perfect price point too at each cream costing only £14.99! A little goes a long way thus making it even lighter on your purse!

I could go on about it.. Silly when you think it’s only a cream, but my skin loves it! And now, so do I! I’d love to try other products from their range too! Have any of you tried anything from Urban Veda before? Visit their website here.

How to make a healthy Iftaar snack!

20130715-002139.jpg

If you’re a Muslim.. RAMADHAN MUBARAK! Living in London means that our fast is 20 hours long giving us just 4 hours to eat food that keeps us nourished for the day! So my family and I have developed a new meal system which means that we’re eating healthy but still feeling full enough!

Bare in mind.. This recipe is just a snack and not a good replacement for a whole meal!

Serves: 3-5

Ingredients:
• Handful of rocket or mixed leaves (spinach, watercress, lettuce, lambs lettuce, mixed leaves, basil are all good alternatives and I love mixing loads of these together too)
• 6-10 Mixed olives (If you live in London, go the Delicatessen of your local supermarket and you can choose some of your favourite flavoured olives and if not, just buy the jarred type)
• 2-3 inches of Cucumber
• Half a red onion (medium sized)
• 6 Picollo red cherry tomatoes (quartered)
• 2 tablespoons of sunflower seeds (you can of course swap for pumpkin, sesame seeds etc. but I love the subtle taste and soft crunch of these)
• 1/4 red/orange or yellow bell pepper
• 1 inch cube of feta cheese
• 1 tablespoon extra Virginia olive oil
• Optional to add lemon
• Can add grilled chicken, leftover steak etc
• Can also add pepper but the kick for mine comes from jalapeño olives!

Method:
Here’s the beauty.. It’s up to you! You can cut these however you like, but I like to keep mine relatively small just for the ease of eating it. Mix it all together and serve however you like. As a side salad (although I find it very filling) or you can eat it alone!

A lot of Asians have the habit of opening their fast with fried food and all sorts of unhealthy foods. Remember, you may not have eaten for some hours so that doesn’t mean to stuff yourself to he brim of fatty food. Instead, try making this salad (which takes less than 10 mins) and feel good about yourself!!

THIS MONTH! I’ve been loving quite a lot of different things! I’ll show you the range.. From make up to jewellery to food to clothes! LET’S BEGIN!

So this bracelet we bought from Primark (me and mum) I think it looks great on! I even wore it kind of layered up with my jumper and thought it looked FAB!
Primark £4

These shoes are from River Island! They have a medium platform and a lovely quilted pattern! Not the easiest to walk in though because they’re straight and won’t allow your foot to bend! I love the gold detailing and the front of the shoe is a very flattering shape and they look a bit different to your usual ballet flats.

This perfume was from the Body Shop! It’s in the scent Moroccan Rose and I think it smells divine! Definitely a rosy musk Though so avoid if that not your thing! It’s perfect for the transition from Summer to Autumn/fall. Unfortunately it was limited edition but they still sell the body butter! YUM!

This t shirt from Dorothy Perkins is what I’ve lived in! As soon as it been washed.. I’ve worn it again! It’s so comfortable, has a brilliant Aztec pattern and I got it from the sale section of Dorothy Perkins for £9 from £18! Whenever you go to Dorothy Perkins or when shopping online, their online section is amazing! So don’t miss it!

The Urban Decay Naked 2 palette was a new purchase for me! YES! I’m a late bloomer but I’ve just discovered it and I’m in love! The colours are perfect for day and night! I actually got mine on eBay for £20 as a seller had them on quite cheap however it’s usually £32 so quite pricey! It’s so amazing I’ve got the Naked palette from eBay as well for the same price! The colours in the Naked palette are slightly more neutral and brown compared to the second so definitely up my street!

The stay matte powder from Rimmel London is fantastic! I’ve been getting quite oily skin recently so though I’d keep it in my bag and since doing so, can’t live without it! I recently bought the Dior powder too but am waiting until the Rimmel one finishes until I use the Dior! It’s lightweight, easy to use and comes in translucent! Woo!

Some people are frightened to death of it but curling your eye lashe is one of the most fundamental parts of doing your make up! It opens the eyes, makes them look more feminine and is a great step before applying mascara to get maximum results! I’ve got quite Kim lashes but their limo and need curl so I curl my lashes effort and after applying mascara (once its dry) and this helps to ensure my lashes are ready for the beautiful day ahead! I’ve had my Tweezerman ones since I was 11 (which is 9 years) and they’ve never caused me any problems! I’ve not had to change the rubber once in that whole time!

Tweezerman eye lash curlers £15

I’ve been loving Tea recently! I’ve needed to relax and there’s nothing better than a cup of tea to relax! Proper British style! However, to give it a bit of twist, try adding 5/6 cardamom seeds in your tea for a different flavour! Like my mug?

I LOVE CHOCOLATE! Enough said!

CHRISTIAN DIOR.. I adore

So we’ve all heard of Chanel and MAC of course!

20120827-005142.jpg
I always notice the Dior counter at Debenhams and really wanted to get something from their! They had amazing blush colours and of course, their Amber Diamond highlighter is so widely raved about! I have a real love/ hate with powder highlighters though! I really only use them when I can’t find my MAC lustre drops or when I have no will to live! It mainly because powder doesn’t last that long on my skin.. Although it does absorb my recently over- oily skin! There are some great powder highlighters but they just don’t seem to cut the mustard!

20120827-005133.jpg
I wanted to get something which I knew I would use! I always noticed their powder compact and it felt so soft! In fact.. Every time I went into Debenhams, I would touch their tester and matched myself up to the correct colour too! I caved in today and just went for it! It cost £30.50 but I’m already in love with! I really wanted to test it straight away so I re-done my make up just for the occasion to test it!

20120827-005149.jpg
The powder is so fine! Even though it’s a compact it has a very loose powder feel to it and I absolutely love the result! The lady at the Dior counter said it lasts all day as uses it when she’s at work because it has staying power! She claimed to not have topped hers up and I went at around 4pm after she had been there from 8am! It looked amazing on her skin!

20120827-005157.jpg
I really wanted to give it a good hard test so I actually wore into sleep! With no other make up! Not even foundation to hold it in place and when I woke up, my skin was so smooth, even and I didn’t notice any oiliness on my nose like I usually do! It truly leaves a fantastic finish to the skin and is the most flawless powder I’ve ever come across! I’m glad I didn’t get the Chanel loose powder because although that has great reviews too, I wanted to venture into a new brand!

20120827-010406.jpg
Bad points.. The compact is quite large! I expected it to have some bulk as it is a high end product but I’m not too keen on bulky packaging cluttering up my handbag! I love a decent sized and discreet make up compact in order to keep your touch up a beautiful secret ;)
Another thing is, I only saw 4 shades?? I’m in the shade 001 translucent light! I hope there are more colours though! Darker skin tones need Dior too!!! I suppose because they are transparent colours, they’re quite versatile but I don’t think it’s easy for tanned, olive or mixed race skin tones to choose a shade.

20120827-005833.jpg
I also have a lipstick from Dior in a very rose coloured pink! It looks fantastic on the lips! The colour is quite frost, but applies with such a nice sheen! It makes your lips look super perky and big! I bought this about a year ago but I’m sure they still sell it! It was slightly cheaper than usual at £19 as I got It whilst it was on offer at Beauty Base but I’m quite sure you can get it anywhere!

Overall, I’m really impressed with Christian Dior make up! They are a really good high end brand, are available worldwide and in the UK are easily accessible as I believe they’re available I’m even the smallest of Debenhams stores!

P.S. they have perfumes called Miss Dior which they do in 3 scents! The yellow coloured one is on my to do list!
