It’s that time again.. Time to look at what I’ve received in my Glossy Box this fine November month!

20131113-190748.jpg
Vichy Trio (Idéalia and Idéalia Life Serum)
Having received a sample of this before, I knew what to expect from this cream! The scent is lovely but really overpowering and definitely not for those of us with sensitive skin! However, I do like the serum which is of course, thinner in consistency and slightly easier to wear.. I didn’t notice any differences in my skin from using this though.

Scholl Dry Skin Exfoliator
This seems really good and I was so happy it came in a full size! It’s quite gritty but isn’t sharp and leaves skin feeling soft! I think this would be great on any dry skin areas such as elbows or knees too!

Elegant Touch Rapid Dry For Nails
I have never tried anything like this before so I’m excited to give it a go. The idea is that you spray this on tower nails and it makes your nails dry in 60 seconds! And again.. Full size!

Yves Rocher Elegant Touch Cacao Orange and Chocolate Hand Cream
Ok, let’s not go any further without mentioning the fact that this smells like Terry’s chocolate orange flavour! I tried this as soon as I could and I wanted to eat my own hands after trying it! It smelt truly incredible! It’s not greasy feeling and absorbs almost immediately! This full size went straight in my handbag!

Emite Micronized Eyeshadow in Dams
The last full size product and it’s the strangest eyeshadow ever! This cruelty and bad-chemical free eyeshadow is like suede to the touch! It’s a matte black colour with no fallout! The pigmentation isn’t great, but the eyeshadow blends beautifully and creates a really nice hazey looking smokey eye!

August Glossy Box

20130815-185903.jpg

This months Glossy Box has arrived and the theme is High Flyers! All products are under 100ml so perfect for flying and they’re all things to give yourself a super quick pep when you’re away and don’t have time for age long beauty treatments!

Océane Make up Remover Pen

This is basically what every woman thinks about wanting but it hasn’t been invented until NOW! This is a makeup remover pen which basically has liquid inside the pen and you can use the nib to remove makeup precisely! It comes with 3 extra nibs and it really helped remove those mistakes that happen with eyeshadows, liners and lipsticks!

Tresemme 60 second treatment shot
I haven’t yet tried this because its not something which appealed to me straight away if I’m honest! I don’t usually use stuff like this is in my hair, simply because I don’t feel I need it! However, this is supposed to make your hair feel silky smooth after using and because it’s 60 second, it’s quick!

Emite Makeup Eye lash Curler
I was so surprised to see an eyelash curler in my Glossy Box this month! It even comes with three changeable rubber pads! It feels really sturdy because the mechanism is stiff and the actual curler area is super long so will grab every eye lash and it gives lashes a really right curl!

Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 eyeliner & shadow
When I saw this, I was so happy! Every Jelly Pong Pong item I receive is always really nice! I love this one too! I like the fact that you can use this as an eye shadow and eye liner! This really does create a smooth and even line and when used as an eye shadow, it’s blend able. However, it’s not that easy to smudge and I found that it creased after some time! I think with a good primer and a shadow on the top, it’ll last!

Urban Veda Purifying Day Cream
I’ve saved the best until last! I absolutely love this day cream! It has a matte finish, feels cold after applying and is so lightweight! Also, it’s so inexpensive that I’m definitely going to purchase it!

I really liked this month’s Glossy Box! There were 4 full sized products in here and more importantly a product which I am so in love with that I’ve recommended it to two other people already and they’ll be purchasing it too! All the products were really nice to use and fit in the ‘High Flyers’ theme really well!

GlossyBox is £10 a month (£2.95 p&p)

Return of the Haul!

I’m baaaaaaack!!

I know I promised you guys a blog post on Saturday but I got REEEEAL busy so I’ll make up for it my lovelies!!!

With the end of the month near, I decided to do a little bit of shopping and picked up some.. Expensive purchases! I went to a flash place so the stuff I got was extortionately priced!

I’m really happy with the things I got! They’re what I’ve been wanting for a while so I’m glad I got them!!

The first thing I had on my agenda was.. RAY BAN’s! Now I’m not a fan of paying anything over £10 for a pair of shades but the cheap ones I get break do easily! With sunglasses I’ve learnt, paying more helps! I went to Westfield in Shepherds Bush and they have a small stall for Sunglasses Hut where we were served by a really helpful guy! He was mega helpful with all the sunglasses that I liked and what looked good! I’d wanted the Wayfarers for a while do decided to get the folding ones cause they’re so cool!

Ray Ban Wayfarers £140

If you’re looking for an inexpensive pair, Urban Outfitters have a sale on their sunglasses and I got this pair similar to the Ray Bans for £10!

Urban Outfitters £10

We then popped into boots and I forgot how many brands Boots actually have! The Boots stores in my area are small! I picked up the Smashbox Tinted Moisturiser because I loved the coverage amount! My skin has been really good (Alhumdolilah), even though I’ve treated it really bad! I haven’t been putting on face cream or taking off my make up properly! I know.. I’m a fool! But this stuff looks amazing! I got the colour light cause it was a PERFECT match! It looked like my skin!

20120923-191634.jpg
Smashbox tinted moisturiser in Light £19.50

I then bumped into the Yves Saint Laurent stand and just knew.. I needed a Rouge Volupte lipstick! I’m not the biggest fan of lipsticks but I had tried these a few times, tested them and put them back because of the price! This lipstick is AMAZING! The pigmentation is INCREDIBLE and it’s so moisturising! The only thing I would say is because its so creamy, it gets stuck in the cracks in your lips so ensure you exfoliate your lips before hand!

YSL Rouge Volumpte lipstick in 1 nude beige £23

Next purchase was a whim! I saw a jewellery stand, loved the rings and got one! They’re we’re moderately priced because they had a 20% off sale but I think she should have been cheaper. I loved this trio set! It has 3 bands.. 1 gold, 1 rose gold and 1 silver which I think look beautiful together! The colours are fantastic and the gems in the band go all the way round! They look FANTASTIC! I can’t wait to do a manicure with them!

20120923-191806.jpg
David Deyong £100 (RRP (124.99)

Then I saw a chocolate stand! Omg.. She had macarons! I HAD to grab them! They looked amazing and I loved the colours so I grabbed a box of 6! I know they’re expensive but I loved one of the caramel truffles she handed over so I hope the macarons match!

20120923-191429.jpg
La Maison du Chocolat macarons £10.50

I then went to Kurt Geiger and saw so many shoes that I fell in love with! I decided to go against a BEAUTIFUL pair of shiny peep tie eels which had gorgeous studding! I then saw these star bracelets and thought they looked amazing and they looked like a really good size! I often buy jewellery if it looks as though it will fit my abnormally small wrists and fingers!

My skin care for men/ women

I’ve developed a method with which to do my face routine at the mo which I’m LOVING!

However, it’s only recently that I was able to do this as my skin before was really difficult to work with. As I turned 20 in December, I found my skin adapt to a new lease of life that meant it was much more manageable and I was so happy! After suffering from acne for many years before and with very dry skin, I had tried everything in the market to control the large boils I would get on my skin.

I then turned 20 and just before, I gave my skin room to breathe and rather than piling on the make up, I was more keen on not wearing make up when unnecessary and this proved to work. I know it’s hard when your skin looks awful and the lack of foundation highlights this so I only stopped wearing it when I wasn’t at work or in public! I also began washing off my makeup as soon as I was home, rather then waiting until bedtime which I think, was the main contribution. After having dry and flaky skin, it evened out and although I still have pigmentation from previous outbreaks, they are fading slowly.

My new regime:

  • Ensuring I exfoliate more as having naturally dry skin means a lot of build up of dead skin on the face (sounds gross I know), but that was also why my make up always looked strange on my face and never even! I use the Garnier Exfo Brusher (around £7.99 from Superdrug/ Boots) for my face wash which I use every morning and on the days I wash my hair.. Why? Because when you wash your hair and the shampoo goes on your face, that needs to be removed with your wash as I noticed spots forming on my forehead when I never done this. (There are two types of the face wash with another one for minimising pores that I find is extremely drying for my so would probably be good for an oily skin)
  • Ensure you’re using a face mask! Because I have naturally dry skin, I use a clay mask and I’m pulling anything away from my skin like the peel masks would. Exfoliating my skin is enough for that! I use Good Things 5 minute face mask (less than £5.99 in Superdrug/ Boots) which is specially designed for teenage skin. Although it claims to support oily skin (which I get in my T-Zone), I find it beautifully evens out my skin and leaves it glowing! As an added trick, I use the Body Shop face brush (£3) to get the mask off as I find it takes out any dead skin cells too
  • I also ensure that as soon as I get out of the shower, I touch nothing and apply my face cream straight away! I’m using Monu Revitalising moisturiser which I originally got in a GlossyBox, but I loved it so much that I repurchased it (pricier at £16- just type in google shopping for the cheapest). Although it is more than I would usually pay for something like a moisturiser, it’s amazing! It sinks into the skin and your makeup adheres better to the skin too
  • This has actually changed my Skin type and rather than having excessively dry and sensitive skin, I now have normal skin with a slight oily t-zone. I HARDLY ever get spots and I feel generally that I don’t need foundation.

    Some hints:

  • Don’t come out of the shower and start touching things with your clean hands. Ensure your hands are clean when you put your moisturiser on. When you get out of the shower, your pores are open and warm and collect anything in the air or coming in contact with them, leaving you with lots of bacteria on your skin! So don’t worry! Check your phone after you’ve applied your face cream cause even that harbours lots of dirt
  • Drink liquids! Not just water as even drinking juice has water in it! If you enjoy water then of course do so but keep your skin hydrated! I now keep a bottle of something in my bag at all times which I find myself drinking up constantly! It makes you feel refreshed and livens up your skin by boosting your water levels. Avoid sugar and dairy products as doing that also left my skin much clearer
  • Take your make up off before you go to bed.. Need I say more???
  • POP YOUR SPOTS! If you have a zit, then you have to get rid of it cause it will just increase and look more and more awful! If your skin scars easily and you don’t like the mark that a popped zit leaves.. Get over it! Im sure you’d much rather have a blemish and say you scratched yourself then have a spot and tell everyone you’re on your period :)
  • I hope this helps! I know that not many men will read this but I have Mr. A doing the same thing and his skin looks beautiful now! He’s a real athlete and he sweats a lot but this routine has helped his skin clear up a lot, I feel!

Remember.. Rather than masking your imperfections with lashings of make up, resolve the root of the problem (your skin), and watch how your confidence within yourself will increase!
