Bella Jane Jewellery.. A unique gift

20130823-194550.jpg

When it comes to presents, I love getting them for people! There’s nothing better in the world in my eyes, than getting someone a small token of appreciation! So when it was time to give my cousin a gift, I knew I had my work cut out!

She’s one of those girls who has everything!

And.. What do you get for someone who has everything? More of what they already have!

And for me.. If you’re a woman, you’ll get jewellery!

I discovered Bella Jane jewellery after watching Pixiwoo. They had on, one of Annabel’s rings and I loved it from the get go! I had a look on her website and found the stuff the perfect sort of gift for a girl! It’s funky, unique and handmade!

Here are the items I bought:

Maybelline Baby Lips.. Finally!

20130816-200956.jpg

I had read on a few blogs that Maybelline had finally released their infamous ‘baby lips’ in the UK and I had been keeping my eyes peeled for them but hadn’t seen them until now!

I really wanted to try them because I always seem to have dry lips and I love a bit of tint.. Not to mention anything that smells good, on my lips! These seemed like the perfect token!

20130816-201005.jpg

The packaging seems a bit flimsy and not really the kind that I’d happily whip out when meeting the Queen as its loud and bright (not to mention a bit flimsy) however, I don’t mind! I can tell I’m not paying for packaging because the product is cheap so I understand their thinking!

When choosing the colours I had a choice between Cherry Me and Peaches because they were the only colours that appealed to me however, I wanted to try just the one for now so being an avid fan of the Haribo Cherries, I chose Cherry Me!

Ok.. The smell! I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN! I want to eat it! It has that typical candy cherry scent! If you’ve ever had Cherry Drops, Cherry penny sweets or anything sweet cherry flavoured, you’ll understand! I love the fact that once I’ve got it on my lips and whilst I’m applying, people ask what smells so good!

20130816-201016.jpg

The colour isn’t super pigmented but I like the sheer colour it does have! It’s almost transparent apart from a very light red hue that you notice once you look hard!

The moisturising factor is mediocre! Nothing uber drenching or anything but I like the finish which isn’t super glossy or super matte! You could literally wear this with any makeup look and it would suit adequately!

20130816-201010.jpg

All in all, I’m a big fan! I really like these and I know I’ll get through this ‘Cherry Me’ one in no time! So I’ll be sure to try some more soon!

Baby lips are £2.99 from Boots or Superdrug

My top 10 beauty tips

Starting with good skin, you need to use a face mask! If you don’t use an intensive treatment like a mask on your face at least once a week, your skin will look dull and blotchy thus, making your make up look the same!

20130412-120120.jpg

Also, I always exfoliate my skin! Whether its using a facial brush or my face wash (which comes with scrublets), I feel like exfoliating really helps make your skin look new.. Even if you’re not!

20130412-120209.jpg

Curl your lashes before you go to bed (when you have no make up on), before you apply mascara in the morning and after your mascara is 100% dry! It will really help to change the way your lashes grow and they’ll naturally start to curl!

20130412-120409.jpg

Always use nourishing treatment on your hair.. Even if its once a week. Using conditioner or oiling your hair will really help repair it. If you use heat regularly, you’re basically frying your hair.. Just like you would put a plaster on your skin to let it heal, your hair shouldn’t be treated any different!

20130412-120412.jpg

When shaping your eye brows.. Whether you tweeze, wax, thread or shave, fill them in like you do on a daily basis and then remove the hair around that shape. That way, you won’t over-pluck!

20130412-120620.jpg

Keep lip balms around you! In your pocket, handbag, desk, bedroom, downstairs, upstairs and even in your car! You always need lip balm when you don’t have it so buy a few and delegate them everywhere you hang out cause you can never have too over moisturised lips!

20130412-120624.jpg

With summer coming, most people will be wearing sandals a lot! You don’t have to use a tonne of money to buy a foot scrub or pumice stone! Go into your garden or park and find a brick (carefully smash its face in on the hard ground really subtly and casually) and use one of the pieces to scrub off your dead skin. Alternatively find a rough edged stone!

20130412-121002.jpg

Sometimes when I’m having a really bad day, I like to paint my nails only to notice my nails look chipped and horrible! Pushing your cuticals back with a blunt butter knife or the edge of a nail file will help to show a little more nail and makes your nail varnish and nails look so crisp and neat.. Who knew there was so much nail under those claws?

20130412-121008.jpg

This is gross.. But don’t be afraid to pick! That’s right.. I’m talking about spots! Most spots have heads (a gooey puss filled delicious centre) or a small hole in them! Those are the spots you should pick! Leaving them trapped under your skin makes them bigger and often hurt! Gently squeeze them out and then let your skin do the healing!

20130412-121431.jpg

If you want your teeth to be whiter, try to drink your hot drinks with a straw or before you brush your teeth! As soon as any dark liquid comes in contact with your teeth, it stains them which is a huge no- go in my books! Your smile should look bright and clean just like its essence!

20130412-121421.jpg

If you’re beautiful (which I think everyone is in their own individual way), embrace your natural beauty! I love seeing confident women out and about with little or no make up on without a care in the world! It’s empowering and a breath of fresh air!

Mini make up haul!

20121210-183621.jpg

I recently found some things I had been looking for, for quite some time that I was saving until winter time! Low and behold.. The mini haul..

The first item I picked up from Superdrug! I noticed how although I hardly touch my brows, this harsh weather and the winds do tend to mess up my brows a lot! So I picked up this clear mascara from Collection 2000 which was £1.99! I tested it out and it lasted fantastically and my brows never moved an inch!

20121210-184201.jpg
Collection 2000 Colour Lash mascara in Clear 1- £1.99

I then saw the Maybelline gel eye liner lying there all by itself so grabbed it! It’s in the colour ‘ultra violet’ and is a lovely deep purple colour! I love these gel eye liners because they’re affordable, last ages and look fantastic! I’m so glad I finally got hold of the purple because I’ve been wanting it for a while! It also comes with a lovely brush which I find easy to use.

20121210-183640.jpg
Maybelline Drama eyes Gel Eyeliner in Ultra Violet 10- £7.99

The next item I got on a whim, was this ‘Sleek blush by 3’ palette! It consists of three shades of blushes that you can use lightly, heavily or even blend to create a new shade! I love it! I mentioned in a few posts that I’m loving purple shades at the moment so when I saw this blush which had deep plums as well as a beautiful pop of bright pink, I grabbed it! It’s excellent value for money too!

20121210-184157.jpg
Sleek Blush by 3 blush palette in pink spirit- £9.99

I then saw Zoella from Zoella280390 talk about her love of MAC studio sculpt foundation! I’ve been looking for. Good foundation for quite some time now and as soon as I tried this, fell in love with it! I got the shade NC25 which is a perfect colour match for me but I do have to mix NW25 of my studio fix to match the colour perfectly! Unlike the MatchMaster foundation, the coverage is heavy and not build able. It cannot be sheered down either but for what it does, it’s fantastic and lasts all day! I picked mind up from eBay but this retails for £25.

20121210-184206.jpg
MAC Studio Sculpt foundation in NC25- £11.99

The last item is my favourite and comes in the form of MAC again! After I saw so much rave about this eye shadow I had to get it when I saw a sale on! I had a voucher for Debenhams and they also had a sale on so got this MAC eyeshadow for £3! Cranberry is exactly the colour I’ve been looking for! As someone with green/brown eyes, I thought this would be a perfect colour to make my eyes pop! Perhaps a perfect colour for my wedding day.. Hmmmmmm..

October Glossy Box

20121019-171335.jpg

This months GlossyBox was not as good as I hoped it would be! However, a few key pieces made it worth my while :)

20121019-171717.jpg

I already received a Dermologica Fresh Start Kit in a previous GlossyBox and never used it because I didn’t really need such an abrasive treatment for my skin. However, in the past Dermalogica products have improved my skin so I won’t mind trying it in the future. A bit disappointed that this is the second time I’ve received this in a GlossyBox.. Perhaps they were trying to recycle some old products?? Would like to try a NEW product every month though as I thought that was their mission statement.

20121019-171349.jpg

The next product I received was Anti Blemish Skinetica which is a company I have never heard of! It’s a very watery liquid that’s suppose clear and reduce spots! I’m excited to try this and have a lot of people to recommend this to, should it work!

20121019-171746.jpg

The next item is a body scrub by a company I’ve heard so much about called THIS WORKS! Everybody has been going crazy about their skin are products! This is a very grainy and citrus smelling shower scrub which I think would be perfect for scrubbing the area with a lot of dead skin such as heels, elbows and knees!

20121019-172903.jpg

The very last item is probably the best! It’s a lipstick by Yves Rocher is this gorgeous creamy pink odour! It’s quite reminiscent of MAC impassioned but has a slightly darker tone! I think it looks great on the lips, is a great formula and is the perfect colour for a pop of colour in Autumn! This colour is the shade 101 Framboise

20121019-172909.jpg

All in all a fairly average GlossyBox this month! I love the fact they’re supporting Breast Cancer month as well! It’s a cause very close to me and its nice to know some of the money you’re spending, is going to a good charity!

My adventures in Paris!

So after a restless night as I am ill, I woke up in the morning to the beautiful British sun shining on my face! It’s time to go PARIS!!!!

20121015-174522.jpg

I had already packed the night before and all I had to do was get myself ready! So after Miss A. arrived, off I went to the airport and we boarded the plane!!

20121015-174537.jpg

It was such a short plane journey (they’re the best ones) and we had such a laugh in the plane, planning all the stuff we wanted to do and see!

20121015-174808.jpg

When we got to the airport and saw the rain, we knew exactly what we were in for during the weekend! However, it looked so much like London it was like being home! Home from another home.. PERFECT!!

20121015-175232.jpg

However, then we started driving and heading towards our hotel and I was soon proven wrong! France is exactly how it looks like in pictures! It’s so vintage and classy and.. FRENCH! It was brilliant!

The weather perked up and we decided to freshen up and head to a nice little restaurant (brasserie ;) ) where we ate some lovely food and off we went for an evening of adventures!

20121015-180219.jpg

What can I say about the Eiffel Tower at night other than WOW! I was in awe at the size and structure of it! It was amazing! I even managed to see it in all it’s glory with the lights on!

20121015-174607.jpg

It’s easy to say that at this point during the night an having been on our feet for 14 hours, we were shattered and so we had perhaps the BEST hot chocolate we’ve ever had from a nearby cafe and headed off home for a lovely hot shower!

20121015-174627.jpg

After a lovely nights sleep we then woke up and left the hotel for a VERY RAINY Paris! It was still pretty even in the rain, unusually enough! We ate a yummy breakfast at a brasserie called Saint Augustin and we left for Opera!

20121015-174659.jpg

After we reached Opera, we saw there were NO shops open on a Sunday! My clothes, head and feet were soaking wet at this point and I wanted nothing more than a nice dry pair of shoes and a cup of tea! Miss A. and I then headed to Champs-Élysées where the magic happened!!!!

20121015-174730.jpg

There was some amazing shops down that stretch of road and we got all of shopping from there because it was so amazing! I’ll have to do a whole post on the things I got because they were amazing!!

20121015-174740.jpg

The train journeys and the metro held the best times for me and my cousin! It was so funny to sit in the train and we were laughing about everything! We came to realise that everything in French sounded so much better! However, why are there door handles on the trains??? They’re not automatic :O that’s crazy to me!

20121015-174757.jpg

All in all, France was AMAZING FUN! We had so much fun and saw everything that we wanted to see! French people are so classy and they’re all so fit! They’re very active and it’s definitely the city of love! I couldn’t put a number on the amount of kissing I saw!

Enjoy some snaps from my journey whilst I rest up from my crazy weekend! I loved spending time with the wonderful Miss A! She was the best person to spend time with!!! I LOVE YOU BILLIONS!!!

20121015-180052.jpg

Thank you for having me Paris!

20121015-174643.jpg

P.S. Look at what my dad had waiting for me on the way back home! He’s so sweet!

20121015-174859.jpg

20121015-174905.jpg

Shopping haul!

20120827-215725.jpg

It happened and I’m sorry! I needed some retail therapy after a horrible week! Wasn’t in the best of moods so took advantage of an hour I had free to do anything with and naturally.. Chose to test the strength of my card!

At the moment Soap and Glory/ Boots have a sale on 3 for 2 products so I picked up their hand food! I have the larger version which I got in their Christmas romper pack that they did but that’s way too big for my handbag! I grabbed these smaller tubes which cost £2.50 each so I got 3 for £5! This stuff smells great and is not greasy! I hate hands creams which attract dust to your hands like a magnet! But this dries instantly leaving a light and moisturise feeling with a lovely fresh scent.

20120827-215000.jpg
Soap and Glory Hand Food £2.50 for 50ml

Boots are also doing buy 1 get one half price on their make up tools so I grabbed myself some Real Technique brushes! I got the blusher brush and the stippling brush! I’m loving these at the moment and I’ve used nothing else since I got them (future blog post coming up).

20120827-220455.jpg
Blush brush £9.99
Stippling brush £11.99

I then popped over to Accessorize! I love this place! The people who were in their stores are always friendly and their stock is great! You all know I’m a fan of rings so treated myself! I got the black stone ring because I loved the expensive look of it! I find Accessorize rings last AGES and I’ve never had one go green either so I love picking one or two in time for the current trend! The silver leaf one is silver plated! I was looking for a ring to wear everyday when I’m not feeling up to a statement design and this looks elegant, delicate and is a lovely design!
St. Marcasite leaf ring £14

20120827-215250.jpg
Zelda Deco ring £10

20120827-215255.jpg

I also got this lovely perfume from Accessorize! It’s called enchanted and smells divine! A very floral and slightly musky smell but it’s not overpowering and is perfect for day to day (if you wear perfume out as i don’t for religious reasons.. This is just another one for my bed and teddy to smell)!

20120827-215051.jpg
Accessorize Enchanted perfume £15 for 50ml

I love the quirky things in Accessorize and grabbed the mini wipes at the counter! I love strawberry and these were perfect to keep in my hand handbag! They also do cherry ones! Then I saw this notepad and just had to get it! I needed something to take notes on at work and for my blog and this is the perfect size! Not too small so you can’t see but not so big your bag should have a licence!

20120827-215041.jpg
Wet wipes £1.50 for 10 wipes

20120827-215301.jpg
Notepad £5

The bangle is from H&M! I LOVE HAYCH AND EM! Their jewellery sits my scrawny wrists and fingers! I love the way they often do bangles in different sizes! I would love to wear oversized bangles but from most stores they usually go right up to my shoulder so when I saw this bangle, I grabbed it! I love the design, size and the clasp which means I don’t get sore hands from squeezing it on!

20120827-215717.jpg
H & M bangle £6.99

20120827-221340.jpg
If every you’re having a bad day.. Just shop! That’s all I can say!

20120827-215732.jpg

£20 make up challenge!!!

20120820-214507.jpg
OK!!!! So a little heads up!!!!

1.) Some of these products I had bought a long time ago! The prices were correct then, but I’ve double checked them and they’ve gone up (uh hum.. SLEEK!!!! :O £7.99 for a palette)!

2.) Some of the products are only available online but I’m assuming everyone who can read a blog has access to the Internet :D

3.) Some of the products can only be bought in store! They’re not available on the website!

4.) Most of the products can only be bought in the UK! Sorry all my foreign friends! Perhaps a new post coming up with international products ;)

LET’S GET CRACKING!

20120820-214527.jpg

Now when I wear make up, I want something minimal, easy to wear/ apply and really cheap! When I’m using something everyday, I don’t want to have to spend £30 every month to get a new mascara! All the high end products I get generally last out longer (e.g. Don’t dry up, have more product etc) so they’ll keep.

If you live in the UK, I didn’t want to use MUA! A king of ELF to all my international bloggers out there! Everything is £1 at MUA! I feel using their products in a challenge limited to money, is cheating!

1 more thing.. WHEN THE F&;:73&/& DID SLEEK MAKE THEIR PALETTES £7.99! They were £6!!!! They’ve gone up by £1.99 in a year.. NOT GOOD! That made me go over budget! That’s another thing my worldwide readers, everything in the UK is more expensive thanks to our taxes! For e.g. NYX is made in Sheffield in the UK but because it’s an American brand, it costs almost twice as much :O

So here’s the look!

20120820-211534.jpg

And the products used and their prices:

  • Collection 2000 Cover Up Stick
I couldn’t find the price or the product anywhere online but I bought it a year ago for £1.99! I used this almost as a foundation because I didn’t have many blemishes so didn’t feel the need for foundation.. Which is something I often do!! ALSO! If I have a fresh spot/ zit, I never cover it with make up because I think blemishes under make up look awful and protruding and also because it’s bad for the acne!
  • 20120820-213106.jpg
Collection 2000 cover up stick in Light Translucent 1

  • Sleek Ultra Mattes Dark palette
This used to cost £6 but I recently saw the price at £7.99 online! Hopefully, this will go down once they notice no British person would pay £2 more for a product that hasn’t changed.. RIP OFF! The pigmentation of these are great! The colours are versatile from day to night and they have a lovely, blend able texture! Plus there’s tonnes of palettes and you get 12 colours in a palette!
  • 20120820-213126.jpg
Sleek Eye shadow palette in Ultra Mattes dark

  • Avon supershock gel pencil liner
This cost me £3 because I saw it on offer in the Avon catalogue once at half price, which they do almost every year! When you do see them on offer, grab them because they’re wonderfully creamy and ultra pigmented! The best black I’ve ever seen!
  • 20120820-213045.jpg
Avon SuperShock gel eyeliner pencil in black

  • Wilkinson volume mascara
It’s £1 and quite good actually! It does get really crispy though! Ensure that if you like applying a few coats of mascara then you don’t let this mascara dry on your lashes before applying another coat! When it dries, it can be coated no more! No momma!
  • 20120820-213053.jpg
    Wilkinson Volume lash in black

    20120820-214519.jpg
    The eye make up

  • Barbara Daly moisturising lipstick
The colour I got was watermelon and this costs £5! Rimmel also do a very cheap lipstick which costs £2.99 but they’re so horrible, I won’t go there ;) This is available in Tesco stores and it’s lovely! Really creamy and quite well pigmented
  • 20120820-213100.jpg
Barbara Daly moisturising lipstick in Watermelon

  • Collection 2000 eye shadow
This is a single eye shadow which costs £1.99! It’s not an eye shadow for me.. It’s a blush! Why not mayn! It’s an amazing colour on the cheeks! It looks rosy and has amazing colour pay off which I’ve highlighted in the image!
  • 20120820-213120.jpg
Collection 2000 single eye shadow in Viva Vegas 006

    20120820-214534.jpg

    TOTAL:

    20120820-215924.jpg

I’ll do a post soon of high end dupes and cheats! So look out for that all my little bargain hunters!!
