Festive Glitter

When Christmas time comes around, everyone starts feeling festive! It’s time to break out the glitter and even though I don’t celebrate Christmas, I enjoy glitter! The easiest way to incorporate it into your makeup, is by using eye liner! Take a look at some of my favourite picks:

20131217-154054.jpg

I’ve tried to include as many different colours as I can! These shades are definitely my favourite and ones that I use all of the time!

20131217-154241.jpg
* Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in ‘Denim Diva’
This isn’t even meant to be an eyeliner but I love drawing a line on my lash line and blending it out! It’s a beautiful cold blue colour with a lighter blue glitter running through it. It has amazing longevity and looks amazing with any eye colour.. It’s a super festive colour, too!

20131217-154248.jpg
* KIKO Super Colour Eyeliner in ‘110’
I go on about these eyeliners a lot but I truly love them! This shade is a beautiful purple colour with glitter running through it! I love using these on my too lash line and also smudging them under my eye too! It’s a gorgeous deep purple and is really long lasting.. As the name suggests!

20131217-154255.jpg
* KIKO Super Colour Eyeliner in ‘102’
For the same reasons above, I love this eyeliner too! Because it’s a liquid, you can get real precision and the brush is immaculate for drawing on the eyes! This brown is a gorgeous rich brown and perfect for those people who want to try something other than black! It has a gold glitter running through it and often looks like a copper colour in some lights.

20131217-154302.jpg
*AVON Supershock Gel Eyeliner in ‘Blackberry’
I’ve loved this colour for years and I can never get ahold of another pencil in this shade so sparingly use this one! This is a fantastic deep burgundy with a red glitter running through it and although the colour initially sounds scary, it looks amazing! This is another one for those of us who are used to black eyeliner.. It makes a gorgeous change to wearing black because of its subtlety! It’s really long lasting and creamy, too!

20131217-154309.jpg
* Barry M Kohl Pencil in ’10’
I bought these recently and have already got so much use of them! This gold colour is definitely one of my favourite! One that would look great on darker skin tones but suits anyone! These are creamy and long lasting and add a gorgeous pop of colour without looking too OTT! I love applying a black eyeliner and then this on top, on my waterline which gives me eyes definition and a pop of colour at the same time!

20131217-154317.jpg
* KIKO Perfect Eyes Duo Highlighter Pencil
This pencil is actually meant to be used on the brow bone one as a highlighter pencil but I love using this on my inner corner, cheekbones and even on my eyelid as an all over colour! This trick is great for those people who don’t wear eyeliner but still want a subtle shimmer! Just dab this on the areas of your eyes where you want some brightness and rock!

20131217-154323.jpg
* INIKA Certified Organic Eyeliner in Green Lagoon
It’s not often I whip out this colour because I’m not usually a fan of frosty colour but this green definitely gets my blood pumping in Winter! It’s a beautiful aqua shade which has a mega frosty finish! It’s not the smoothest pencil but after warming it up with a hair dryer or in my hands, it’s fairly easy to use and I love applying this with a black on my waterline or just above my black winged eyeliner for a pop of colour on my eyelid!

Limited edition Real Techniques Brushes

20130526-230734.jpg

Sam from Pixiwoo done it again with a new set if brushes that have had me ditch all my other brushes! If there’s one thing I love in a make up brush, it’s duo fibres!

I bought a MAC limited edition Duo fibre brush set a while back and haven’t touched it (I’m finding it hard to start using it cause its so pristine).

20130526-230738.jpg
**You can get them from Boots and Superdrug in the UK.

The brushes are uber soft and have such a good density to them! They apply effortlessly and pick up powders like a magnet and the eye shadow brush blends seamlessly! I really like the black and white design, too because it stands out from all my other brushes!

20130526-230904.jpg

I wish the brushes came in a limited edition travel case though because although the brushes look good, the foam padding they came in is not good for storing them in when using a make up bag.

Mini make up haul!

20121210-183621.jpg

I recently found some things I had been looking for, for quite some time that I was saving until winter time! Low and behold.. The mini haul..

The first item I picked up from Superdrug! I noticed how although I hardly touch my brows, this harsh weather and the winds do tend to mess up my brows a lot! So I picked up this clear mascara from Collection 2000 which was £1.99! I tested it out and it lasted fantastically and my brows never moved an inch!

20121210-184201.jpg
Collection 2000 Colour Lash mascara in Clear 1- £1.99

I then saw the Maybelline gel eye liner lying there all by itself so grabbed it! It’s in the colour ‘ultra violet’ and is a lovely deep purple colour! I love these gel eye liners because they’re affordable, last ages and look fantastic! I’m so glad I finally got hold of the purple because I’ve been wanting it for a while! It also comes with a lovely brush which I find easy to use.

20121210-183640.jpg
Maybelline Drama eyes Gel Eyeliner in Ultra Violet 10- £7.99

The next item I got on a whim, was this ‘Sleek blush by 3’ palette! It consists of three shades of blushes that you can use lightly, heavily or even blend to create a new shade! I love it! I mentioned in a few posts that I’m loving purple shades at the moment so when I saw this blush which had deep plums as well as a beautiful pop of bright pink, I grabbed it! It’s excellent value for money too!

20121210-184157.jpg
Sleek Blush by 3 blush palette in pink spirit- £9.99

I then saw Zoella from Zoella280390 talk about her love of MAC studio sculpt foundation! I’ve been looking for. Good foundation for quite some time now and as soon as I tried this, fell in love with it! I got the shade NC25 which is a perfect colour match for me but I do have to mix NW25 of my studio fix to match the colour perfectly! Unlike the MatchMaster foundation, the coverage is heavy and not build able. It cannot be sheered down either but for what it does, it’s fantastic and lasts all day! I picked mind up from eBay but this retails for £25.

20121210-184206.jpg
MAC Studio Sculpt foundation in NC25- £11.99

The last item is my favourite and comes in the form of MAC again! After I saw so much rave about this eye shadow I had to get it when I saw a sale on! I had a voucher for Debenhams and they also had a sale on so got this MAC eyeshadow for £3! Cranberry is exactly the colour I’ve been looking for! As someone with green/brown eyes, I thought this would be a perfect colour to make my eyes pop! Perhaps a perfect colour for my wedding day.. Hmmmmmm..

BARGAIN MAKE UP HAUL!!!!

20120824-022828.jpg

Well obviously, it’s that time of the month.. Where a woman wants to do nothing more than shop for make up products which she no way needs, and never even knew she wanted until she saw it on the shelf! Not linked to hormones at all.. Let’s just call it NATURAL to waste money when we’re bored :)

When I got in Boots, I found so many offers on brands and products that I loved! I knew instantly I wanted to post a bargain make up haul! So all the products are on offer! If they’re not on offer.. They’re dirt cheap! You don’t need to have a wallet that weighs a tonne for these babies!!

20120824-022818.jpg
My receipt!

SO! I got a few things.. Originally I went into Boots to find an eye shadow colour that @essiebutton had mentioned on her YouTube channel! I thought it was stunning and as I’m no way ever going to waste money on a MAC eye shadow when I can find a high street priced dupe, I went on the hunt..

20120824-025821.jpg
Shale £12.00

So the first thing I picked up was This nail varnish from Number 17! It’s the magnetic kind that creates a funky metallic look to your nails and since I had never tried one before, I thought I’d go for it!

20120824-023506.jpg
Lilac £5.99

To top off my excitement, Boots had an offer were they were giving a free trio of limited edition ‘Bronze’ make up products if you spent over £5.99! I love 17 products so of course went for it! Inside the box, there was an eye shadow, lip gloss and cream blusher which are all products I love to use! The lip gloss was a nice nude colour and has a little shimmer in but looks gorgeous! More of a brown nude than pink but it looks good on the lips and would definitely look good on a tanned person!

20120824-024005.jpg

The blusher was very disappointing! Has the consistency of a cream eye shadow and the colour is so orange and has a horrible shimmer to it! After trying it on my cheeks, I felt no different so will have to throw that ‘accidentally’ under the bed!

20120824-024424.jpg
Bronze

The last item.. The eye shadow of my dreams! During the rest of the shopping trip, I searched every kiosk for the MAC dupe but never found it until I went home, and this eye shadow greeted my life! It was exactly what I was looking for! It looks über shiny in the pot but on the skin has a lovely metallic feel to it! EXACTLY what I wanted! I love this colour!

20120824-023949.jpg
Statuesque

Rimmel are having a 3 for 2 offer in Boots so I thought I would treat myself! I first picked up the Glam Eyes Day to Night mascara! This really does look nice! I accidentally picked up 002 Brown Black, however, it looks really nice and not as piercing as black mascara so I quite like it! I tried it on straight away although cant give it a proper review, because I already had mascara on!

20120824-023443.jpg
002 Brown Black £7.99

Then, I saw this eye shadow quad and fell in love with the colours! I don’t usually like shimmer or metallics but am at the moment during the sunny weather we’re having here in London so picked it up! It has a gorgeous champagne, bronze, nude peach and dirty blonde colour! They look great by themselves or with matte contouring! They’re really well pigmented too! Apart from the champagne colour which is very dull.. Doesn’t really have strong pigmentation at all!

20120824-023455.jpg
Sun safari £6.99

Lastly, I got this lipgloss! I love pinky colours but nothing too bright and deep pinks are my favourite! I remember I used to have this lipgloss but misplaced it somewhere and I’ve rediscovered it! Not only is the colour great, but the texture isn’t too sticky and it has the most gorgeous glitter particles in it! Doesn’t last very long though but, I’ll definitely try more colours in the future!

20120824-024433.jpg
Captivate me £6.29

I’ve always wanted to try a natural collection blush and so I picked up this one today after I saw it was so inexpensive! This is a gorgeous rosy pink colour and looks great on the cheeks! Has a really soft and satin feel too! Only thing is that it can look quite chalky and can easily blend away! So I would apply a cream product like extra primer, cream highlighter etc. to help it stick!

20120824-023139.jpg
Pink cloud £1.99

Soap and Glory released a make up line a while back and I have never really tried anything major from them! I’ve had a few free samples such as ‘Mother Pucker’ lip gloss and ‘Thick and Fast’ mascara but always wanted to try more! When I saw Boots had an offer for £3 off, I couldn’t resist! I love their body supplies, and I love their make up too!

The Kick Ass Concealer I got in medium and I LOVE IT! It has a very salmon toned colour and a bright under eye concealer too! They actually say the salmon colour should be used as a facial concealer rather than under eye but I would use it as a corrector and apply the lighter shade after to enhance the under eye area! It also has a powder puff, which I LOVE! The translucent powder is so fine and satin like!

20120824-023151.jpg

20120824-023207.jpg
Medium £7.00

The Cheekmate is a lip and cheek stain! You guys know how much I love my Body Shop stain but this has a more creamy consistency! It blends like a dream but I haven’t tested it’s longevity yet! I’ll keep you guys posted!

20120824-023933.jpg
Rosy glow £6.00

I got this brush from Sainsbury’s which is a supermarket like Target! I really wanted a pencil brush but wanted to see whether it suits the way I do my eye make up before I invested in a MAC brush! This cost £3.99 and is dual ended with an angled brush on the other side! I love it! I tested it straight away on a general smoky eye and it looked GREAT! It has a short, stubby and precise tip which helps you get a perfect outer corner and crease going!

20120824-024439.jpg
Smokey eye brush £3.99

That’s the end of the make up haul guys! Clothing haul coming up soon! little tip is when you have a 3 for 2 offer, get products which are priced around the same price! This way you get full use out of the deal!

Just so you guys know, I tried to test this make up straight away after i got it
and I applied as I normally would! I also carried out my evening duties as usual and even had a little nap hence, the real views I have!

It goes to show that if you look for deals, you’ll often find what you’re looking for! I’ll be doing a make up look using these products soon!

20120824-022837.jpg

£20 make up challenge!!!

20120820-214507.jpg
OK!!!! So a little heads up!!!!

1.) Some of these products I had bought a long time ago! The prices were correct then, but I’ve double checked them and they’ve gone up (uh hum.. SLEEK!!!! :O £7.99 for a palette)!

2.) Some of the products are only available online but I’m assuming everyone who can read a blog has access to the Internet :D

3.) Some of the products can only be bought in store! They’re not available on the website!

4.) Most of the products can only be bought in the UK! Sorry all my foreign friends! Perhaps a new post coming up with international products ;)

LET’S GET CRACKING!

20120820-214527.jpg

Now when I wear make up, I want something minimal, easy to wear/ apply and really cheap! When I’m using something everyday, I don’t want to have to spend £30 every month to get a new mascara! All the high end products I get generally last out longer (e.g. Don’t dry up, have more product etc) so they’ll keep.

If you live in the UK, I didn’t want to use MUA! A king of ELF to all my international bloggers out there! Everything is £1 at MUA! I feel using their products in a challenge limited to money, is cheating!

1 more thing.. WHEN THE F&;:73&/& DID SLEEK MAKE THEIR PALETTES £7.99! They were £6!!!! They’ve gone up by £1.99 in a year.. NOT GOOD! That made me go over budget! That’s another thing my worldwide readers, everything in the UK is more expensive thanks to our taxes! For e.g. NYX is made in Sheffield in the UK but because it’s an American brand, it costs almost twice as much :O

So here’s the look!

20120820-211534.jpg

And the products used and their prices:

  • Collection 2000 Cover Up Stick
I couldn’t find the price or the product anywhere online but I bought it a year ago for £1.99! I used this almost as a foundation because I didn’t have many blemishes so didn’t feel the need for foundation.. Which is something I often do!! ALSO! If I have a fresh spot/ zit, I never cover it with make up because I think blemishes under make up look awful and protruding and also because it’s bad for the acne!
  • 20120820-213106.jpg
Collection 2000 cover up stick in Light Translucent 1

  • Sleek Ultra Mattes Dark palette
This used to cost £6 but I recently saw the price at £7.99 online! Hopefully, this will go down once they notice no British person would pay £2 more for a product that hasn’t changed.. RIP OFF! The pigmentation of these are great! The colours are versatile from day to night and they have a lovely, blend able texture! Plus there’s tonnes of palettes and you get 12 colours in a palette!
  • 20120820-213126.jpg
Sleek Eye shadow palette in Ultra Mattes dark

  • Avon supershock gel pencil liner
This cost me £3 because I saw it on offer in the Avon catalogue once at half price, which they do almost every year! When you do see them on offer, grab them because they’re wonderfully creamy and ultra pigmented! The best black I’ve ever seen!
  • 20120820-213045.jpg
Avon SuperShock gel eyeliner pencil in black

  • Wilkinson volume mascara
It’s £1 and quite good actually! It does get really crispy though! Ensure that if you like applying a few coats of mascara then you don’t let this mascara dry on your lashes before applying another coat! When it dries, it can be coated no more! No momma!
  • 20120820-213053.jpg
    Wilkinson Volume lash in black

    20120820-214519.jpg
    The eye make up

  • Barbara Daly moisturising lipstick
The colour I got was watermelon and this costs £5! Rimmel also do a very cheap lipstick which costs £2.99 but they’re so horrible, I won’t go there ;) This is available in Tesco stores and it’s lovely! Really creamy and quite well pigmented
  • 20120820-213100.jpg
Barbara Daly moisturising lipstick in Watermelon

  • Collection 2000 eye shadow
This is a single eye shadow which costs £1.99! It’s not an eye shadow for me.. It’s a blush! Why not mayn! It’s an amazing colour on the cheeks! It looks rosy and has amazing colour pay off which I’ve highlighted in the image!
  • 20120820-213120.jpg
Collection 2000 single eye shadow in Viva Vegas 006

    Hints and tips*

    • If you have short and rounded fingers whereby you find your wear a Large size ring however the tips of your fingers go skinnier and you have short nails, avoid going for large and cocktail style rings. Instead, opt for smaller and more delicate rings! Don’t worry thought.. Add a bit of drama by going for bold colours and intricate designs. You know those rings that come in stacks of 3s, 4s, 5s etc.. Go for them and wear them individually! Visit ASOS and they have a large variety with gorgeous designs
    • If you have long and skinny fingers and you find that most rings are big for you, go for large and bold rings which will widen out your hands a bit and make them look fuller. You’re actually at an advantage though cause most ring types will look fantastic on you. If you do wish to go for something elegant and small, try to paint your nails a bold colour and this will enhance the simple design of your jewellery.
    • If you have Medium sized fingers but quite a lot of skin on your fingers, don’t go for small designs at all as often, rings can look too tight on your fingers and I’ve seen so many people with red and painful looking hands because their rings don’t fit them. Go for mid sized rings with a pattern, design, large stone etc as these will compliment your lovely fingers more.
    • MAKE SURE YOUR NAILS ARE CLEAN! I always ensure my hands are clean and have a nail file attached to my keys, in my make up bag, in my car and my bedroom, so there is no excuse for my hands to have anything dirty on them.
    • If you find you have stained fingers from nail varnish colours such as a red and pink, dip your fingers in a centimetre of nail varnish remover for 20 seconds. If you have painful skin around your fingers, cuts or grazes or your finger nails are brittle.. Avoid this completely as it’s not worth the pain. Just scrub them VERY gently with a dish scourer when you wash the dishes next :)

Hands are a gorgeous part of a woman! No matter how insecure you feel about your face, body or weight, your hands are what you use every day in your life with interaction whilst talking, touching, interacting.. EVERYTHING! All hands are gorgeous and you can make your hands look nice without having to spend thousands of pounds and dollars on them.. Don’t just make them look good for yourself but see the reaction of your other half. Every time I have a nice nail varnish colour on my nails, Mr. A always compliments them and can’t resist giving my hands a feel. Wearing rings and jewellery is just another way to enhance them.. HAPPY DAYS!

THE RULE IS SIMPLE.. Just treat them clean and keep them keen!

My skin care for men/ women

I’ve developed a method with which to do my face routine at the mo which I’m LOVING!

However, it’s only recently that I was able to do this as my skin before was really difficult to work with. As I turned 20 in December, I found my skin adapt to a new lease of life that meant it was much more manageable and I was so happy! After suffering from acne for many years before and with very dry skin, I had tried everything in the market to control the large boils I would get on my skin.

I then turned 20 and just before, I gave my skin room to breathe and rather than piling on the make up, I was more keen on not wearing make up when unnecessary and this proved to work. I know it’s hard when your skin looks awful and the lack of foundation highlights this so I only stopped wearing it when I wasn’t at work or in public! I also began washing off my makeup as soon as I was home, rather then waiting until bedtime which I think, was the main contribution. After having dry and flaky skin, it evened out and although I still have pigmentation from previous outbreaks, they are fading slowly.

    My new regime:

  • Ensuring I exfoliate more as having naturally dry skin means a lot of build up of dead skin on the face (sounds gross I know), but that was also why my make up always looked strange on my face and never even! I use the Garnier Exfo Brusher (around £7.99 from Superdrug/ Boots) for my face wash which I use every morning and on the days I wash my hair.. Why? Because when you wash your hair and the shampoo goes on your face, that needs to be removed with your wash as I noticed spots forming on my forehead when I never done this. (There are two types of the face wash with another one for minimising pores that I find is extremely drying for my so would probably be good for an oily skin)
  • Ensure you’re using a face mask! Because I have naturally dry skin, I use a clay mask and I’m pulling anything away from my skin like the peel masks would. Exfoliating my skin is enough for that! I use Good Things 5 minute face mask (less than £5.99 in Superdrug/ Boots) which is specially designed for teenage skin. Although it claims to support oily skin (which I get in my T-Zone), I find it beautifully evens out my skin and leaves it glowing! As an added trick, I use the Body Shop face brush (£3) to get the mask off as I find it takes out any dead skin cells too
  • I also ensure that as soon as I get out of the shower, I touch nothing and apply my face cream straight away! I’m using Monu Revitalising moisturiser which I originally got in a GlossyBox, but I loved it so much that I repurchased it (pricier at £16- just type in google shopping for the cheapest). Although it is more than I would usually pay for something like a moisturiser, it’s amazing! It sinks into the skin and your makeup adheres better to the skin too
  • This has actually changed my Skin type and rather than having excessively dry and sensitive skin, I now have normal skin with a slight oily t-zone. I HARDLY ever get spots and I feel generally that I don’t need foundation.

    Some hints:

  • Don’t come out of the shower and start touching things with your clean hands. Ensure your hands are clean when you put your moisturiser on. When you get out of the shower, your pores are open and warm and collect anything in the air or coming in contact with them, leaving you with lots of bacteria on your skin! So don’t worry! Check your phone after you’ve applied your face cream cause even that harbours lots of dirt
  • Drink liquids! Not just water as even drinking juice has water in it! If you enjoy water then of course do so but keep your skin hydrated! I now keep a bottle of something in my bag at all times which I find myself drinking up constantly! It makes you feel refreshed and livens up your skin by boosting your water levels. Avoid sugar and dairy products as doing that also left my skin much clearer
  • Take your make up off before you go to bed.. Need I say more???
  • POP YOUR SPOTS! If you have a zit, then you have to get rid of it cause it will just increase and look more and more awful! If your skin scars easily and you don’t like the mark that a popped zit leaves.. Get over it! Im sure you’d much rather have a blemish and say you scratched yourself then have a spot and tell everyone you’re on your period :)
  • I hope this helps! I know that not many men will read this but I have Mr. A doing the same thing and his skin looks beautiful now! He’s a real athlete and he sweats a lot but this routine has helped his skin clear up a lot, I feel!

Remember.. Rather than masking your imperfections with lashings of make up, resolve the root of the problem (your skin), and watch how your confidence within yourself will increase!
