Autumn is all about dark and deep shades and there’s no better statement than to add that dark look on your lips! I love dark lips but am not always brave enough to rock them.. My mum however LOVES them on me! So don’t be afraid to ask other people’s opinions on how it looks on you, you might be surprised what they think!
In the UK, Boots are really well known for their Christmas sales and the products they release from tonnes of brands for the festive season! I recently popped in there and saw Ted Baker make up kits, which is completely new for me to use! I wanted to try it because Ted Baker is a high end brand, so I grabbed this kit.. Have a look..
The Great and the Gorgeous Cosmetic Gift Set – £40 (they have now put up the price)
The kit came in at £19 (I was so chuffed at the affordable price but they still have it in their ‘3 for 2’ sale). As always with Ted Baker, the packaging is incredible and the products inside are made of good quality!
The kit comes with: a bronzing compact, lipstick crayons, eye liner, shimmer eye creams, eye glitter, false eyelashes and glue, nail polishes, illuminating liquids and cosmetic brushes! Tonnes of products!
The swatches of the products show the quality of the makeup! It really is worth it!
The colours are autumn happy and I just love the idea of carrying around that rose gold compact!
The brushes are MAC quality.. Seriously! I love the lip crayon shades which are super moisturising and pigmented AND.. All the nail varnishes and highlighting (illuminating) pots, are crazy beautiful! The eyeliner is pigmented and long lasting and the other eye make up (lashes, glitter and cream shadow), are so natural and easy to wear!
I have been looking for a palette I can travel with, for quite some time now! After going to Spain for a day and only carrying hand luggage, I realised that I didn’t have any palettes or sets which had everything I needed for an overnight stay!
When I went to the airport (Heathrow and Madrid), I saw a palette by Lancôme which looked fabulous!! However, they had a model of this palette on the display and I was so disappointed because it was tiny!! And was over £50! When I came home, I went straight onto eBay and found it for less than half the price from a UK seller and behold it arrived the very next day.. EXCITED!! The palette is called ‘Absolut Voyage’ and is only available from Airports or online I’ve noticed.
A short time after, I realised I had never purchased anything from BeautyBay.com before, despite being CRAZY about make up so after visiting it, I saw this fantastic ‘Little black book of beauty’ from Too Faced. Having tried a lovely palette from Too Faced recently, I knew this one would be FAB! And also, it was on sale for £27! BeautyBay deliver free worldwide.. BONUS!! The palette looked full of all sorts of goodies which would be perfect for travelling!
After receiving the Lancôme palette, the first thing I noticed was the brilliant size and quality of the packaging! It is full of brushes, make up, pencils, a massive mirror and a sleeve to protect it! It contains:
• 6 eye shadows
• 1 blush
• 1 translucent powder
• 1 concealer
• 1 mascara
• 3 lip colours
• 3 brushes
• 1 eye pencil
• 1 lip pencil
• 1 small powder puff
• 1 built in mirror
You can imagine, the quality of the products are amazing and each eye shadow and everything else is so well pigmented!! I was so pleased with all of the colours included as I would wear them all and it’s versatile for any skin bar, the concealer however, even this could be worn as a highlight for a darker skin tone!
The Two Faced palette arrived in the post and it was a very small packaging as I didn’t realise how small it would be! I love Too Faced packaging because its such a sturdy packaging with beautiful artwork on it! The mascara was loose however, and I was expecting it to be included within the ‘book’. When I opened the palette it contained:
• 1 highlighter
• 1 bronzer
• 2 blushes
• 1 lipgloss
• 12 eye shadows
• 1 mascara
Some of the matte eye shadows were almost transparent and had no pigmentation to them at all however, the rest were fantastic quality! I love the fact that the face products and lip gloss they give is so big and the packaging is tiny, so very easy to carry!
All in all.. I think the Lancôme palette is the one for me! It has everything you need and the size of the palette is the best. The pigmentation of all of the products is lovely and the colours are versatile. The Too Faced palette is lovely to look and the cheek products are a fantastic size! The mirror of the Lancôme palette is far greater and although I love the fact that under theToo Faced palettes’ mirror, the lip gloss is protected, I would rather that the cheek products are covered because they go directly onto skin! For the amount of money you pay.. LANCÔME WINS!! Too Faced KO!
So after a restless night as I am ill, I woke up in the morning to the beautiful British sun shining on my face! It’s time to go PARIS!!!!
I had already packed the night before and all I had to do was get myself ready! So after Miss A. arrived, off I went to the airport and we boarded the plane!!
It was such a short plane journey (they’re the best ones) and we had such a laugh in the plane, planning all the stuff we wanted to do and see!
When we got to the airport and saw the rain, we knew exactly what we were in for during the weekend! However, it looked so much like London it was like being home! Home from another home.. PERFECT!!
However, then we started driving and heading towards our hotel and I was soon proven wrong! France is exactly how it looks like in pictures! It’s so vintage and classy and.. FRENCH! It was brilliant!
The weather perked up and we decided to freshen up and head to a nice little restaurant (brasserie ;) ) where we ate some lovely food and off we went for an evening of adventures!
What can I say about the Eiffel Tower at night other than WOW! I was in awe at the size and structure of it! It was amazing! I even managed to see it in all it’s glory with the lights on!
It’s easy to say that at this point during the night an having been on our feet for 14 hours, we were shattered and so we had perhaps the BEST hot chocolate we’ve ever had from a nearby cafe and headed off home for a lovely hot shower!
After a lovely nights sleep we then woke up and left the hotel for a VERY RAINY Paris! It was still pretty even in the rain, unusually enough! We ate a yummy breakfast at a brasserie called Saint Augustin and we left for Opera!
After we reached Opera, we saw there were NO shops open on a Sunday! My clothes, head and feet were soaking wet at this point and I wanted nothing more than a nice dry pair of shoes and a cup of tea! Miss A. and I then headed to Champs-Élysées where the magic happened!!!!
There was some amazing shops down that stretch of road and we got all of shopping from there because it was so amazing! I’ll have to do a whole post on the things I got because they were amazing!!
The train journeys and the metro held the best times for me and my cousin! It was so funny to sit in the train and we were laughing about everything! We came to realise that everything in French sounded so much better! However, why are there door handles on the trains??? They’re not automatic :O that’s crazy to me!
All in all, France was AMAZING FUN! We had so much fun and saw everything that we wanted to see! French people are so classy and they’re all so fit! They’re very active and it’s definitely the city of love! I couldn’t put a number on the amount of kissing I saw!
Enjoy some snaps from my journey whilst I rest up from my crazy weekend! I loved spending time with the wonderful Miss A! She was the best person to spend time with!!! I LOVE YOU BILLIONS!!!
Thank you for having me Paris!
P.S. Look at what my dad had waiting for me on the way back home! He’s so sweet!
U.A.E! The first country to have succeeded in my ‘talk of my top 5 views’!
In particular, I’ll talk about Dubai as I went there recently! I’ll show you the things I bought as well as some pictures I took whilst there!
Ok.. So we recently had a tough time at the beginning of the year.. My brothers wedding got called off after 2 years of planning and of course.. He was distraught! Moreso than him, my mum was quite hard on herself and took the blame even though it wasn’t her fault.. The solution.. A secret holiday! Planned by my trust Mr. A and cousin Miss. A! I discussed which location to go to and it was tough! We kind of started off in the European region but my brother has seen so much of it, we decided against it! My cousin then said that Dubai was a brilliant place! Mr. A practically lives there and recommended it for sure! Literally, the whole concept, planning and booking happened in a few hours one night!
I told my brother from the get- go because I wasn’t entirely sure he’d want to go.. But he was happy to comply! My brother realised that my mother was down about the whole situation so we decided to surprise her! And that.. We did! Miss. A got involved and with a bunch of balloons and BIG bouquet of flowers, mum was in disbelief that she was going to Dubai!!
This all happened the day before we were meant to leave for our holiday! Mum told all her friends, we cracked on with the packing and away we went! I was so excited I couldn’t sleep! My favourite holidays are near the beach and I’m definitely a city girl! But this was UNREAL! When we arrived in Dubai.. THE SUN! THE FRESH BREEZE! THE CLEANLINESS! It was amazing! There’s no feeling like when you’re walking through the plane isles to a new country.. And you haven’t even moved!
We arrived the morning and were fairly hungry so made good use of the hotel! Dubai is fairly small so our hotel was nearby to everything (located in Bur Dubai)! We found a small Paul’s cafe and that would be our stop for a few days every morning! Breakfast was at our hotel, but snacks and pit stops were there!
The first day of arrival, as went to the beach! Oh My God! To all my fellow UAE readers.. You should be so grateful to have the most beautiful beach at your finger tips! I was in awe of the beautiful warm weather, the soft sand and the cool ocean! As soon as we went to the beach.. I could see the relief on the faces of my brother and mother! Like a weight had been lifted off! We found an ice cream man who would be our new addiction supplier (ICE CREAM) and we stayed at the beach until sunset! It was absolutely beautiful!
Dubai mall as amazing because of the sheer size of it! I’m used to the size though because Westfiels shopping centre in London is quite big as well! Of course.. The main attraction of Dubai Mall is the massive building stuck on the side! Burj Khalifa was amazing! It is so big.. You have to stand quite a way back to see it! I thought it was really attractive and we looked like typical tourists just gasping at it and giggling as we tried to take pictures of us ‘touching the top’ LOL!
Of course! Done quite a bit of shopping but more so than the shopping, we took advantage of the fact we could eat ANYTHING there because it was all halal! Tony Roma’s, Chillis, McDonalds! WOO! I’m a real food person and for me, having a lack of food whilst on holiday usually dampens it but I was very happy! One thing.. When we went to the Emirates Mall, we ventured into Chilli’s where my mum found a spider in her food :O LITERALLY! The manager tried to say it was a mushroom but mum knows a spider leg when she sees it.. The whole situation was handled badly! But we then went to Chilli’s in BurJaman and we LOVED the refreshing mocktails!
On to the pictures some more pictures!
The gold market was amazing! There was so much GOLD! Of course.. I has told mum about this so he bought her old gold and the jewellers were happy to do us a good deal in order to get some new bling!
If I could have changed anything.. Rent a car! We had problems with regards to taxi’s etc just because they cost so much! Also, we should have gone to Abu Dhabi because everyone said that is a must see!
The people there were so friendly but obviously they’re used to getting tourists who don’t speak a word of their language! The taxi drivers were friendly and when we left something in a taxi, the driver came to find us to return our shopping back to use and we were so happy!
Thank you for the trip of a lifetime, UAE!
THINGS TO DO:
• Burj Khalifa
• Jumeira beach
• Emirates mall
• Dubai mall
• Burj al Arab
• THE FOOD!
• Cinema’s, cafe’s
• Safari ( I went however, didn’t find it all that fun if I’m honest! Was just a long hot day sitting in sand filled with spiders in the middle of nowhere)
• Gold market
• The market around the gold market!!
Have you ever been Dubai?
What are your favourite things to do there?
If you live there, what do you like the most?
It happened and I’m sorry! I needed some retail therapy after a horrible week! Wasn’t in the best of moods so took advantage of an hour I had free to do anything with and naturally.. Chose to test the strength of my card!
At the moment Soap and Glory/ Boots have a sale on 3 for 2 products so I picked up their hand food! I have the larger version which I got in their Christmas romper pack that they did but that’s way too big for my handbag! I grabbed these smaller tubes which cost £2.50 each so I got 3 for £5! This stuff smells great and is not greasy! I hate hands creams which attract dust to your hands like a magnet! But this dries instantly leaving a light and moisturise feeling with a lovely fresh scent.
Boots are also doing buy 1 get one half price on their make up tools so I grabbed myself some Real Technique brushes! I got the blusher brush and the stippling brush! I’m loving these at the moment and I’ve used nothing else since I got them (future blog post coming up).
I then popped over to Accessorize! I love this place! The people who were in their stores are always friendly and their stock is great! You all know I’m a fan of rings so treated myself! I got the black stone ring because I loved the expensive look of it! I find Accessorize rings last AGES and I’ve never had one go green either so I love picking one or two in time for the current trend! The silver leaf one is silver plated! I was looking for a ring to wear everyday when I’m not feeling up to a statement design and this looks elegant, delicate and is a lovely design!
St. Marcasite leaf ring £14
I also got this lovely perfume from Accessorize! It’s called enchanted and smells divine! A very floral and slightly musky smell but it’s not overpowering and is perfect for day to day (if you wear perfume out as i don’t for religious reasons.. This is just another one for my bed and teddy to smell)!
I love the quirky things in Accessorize and grabbed the mini wipes at the counter! I love strawberry and these were perfect to keep in my hand handbag! They also do cherry ones! Then I saw this notepad and just had to get it! I needed something to take notes on at work and for my blog and this is the perfect size! Not too small so you can’t see but not so big your bag should have a licence!
The bangle is from H&M! I LOVE HAYCH AND EM! Their jewellery sits my scrawny wrists and fingers! I love the way they often do bangles in different sizes! I would love to wear oversized bangles but from most stores they usually go right up to my shoulder so when I saw this bangle, I grabbed it! I love the design, size and the clasp which means I don’t get sore hands from squeezing it on!
After many days of feeling
uninspired to write, I have finally seen something after so long, I had to share my experiences.. THE SUN!
Ah she’s a beautiful thing in the sky that shines on your life and makes it bright and lovely! I was in bed today, dying of hayfever with two ends of a tissue stuffed up my nose looking like quite the walrus. But I don’t care being Ill when the garden is blooming with flowers and the outside smells like
blocked nose.. I mean fresh cut grass ;)
Whilst on the
sea bed in my walrus state, I was thinking about my childhood during summer and the fun that times we had. I would wake up in the morning to the sound of my cousins downstairs and I would get out of bed so quickly, there’d be a trail of smoke! We’d go in the garden and make a tent, play on my bike and create new and exciting games that although had no structure, we found amazingly fun to play!
The holidays when we were young were days that I looked forward to, weeks in advance! Trips to the Isle of White, Brighton beach, London, abroad.. WHEREVER! To be anywhere outside in the brilliant summers of the 90’s was awesome! The whole street would go out and have water fights with parents roaring in laughter when their child got shot with an unexpected pellet of water! Cars would stop and turn around looking at the turmoil happening on the street they were
The best time I can remember is when I was about 13. So not all that young and at quite an ‘uncomfortable‘ stage in my life. Everyone was sitting downstairs quite late at night when I was called down. I was so worried that I had done something wrong. My parents had a stern look on their face and my brother and sister were giggling away at something that they weren’t
hiding very well. My mum and dad started the conversation: “we’ve been thinking bubble“, and in my head I heard: “we’re sending you to boarding school“. My brother was getting restless so just blurted out.. YOU’RE COMING TO NEW YORK WITH US!!! Haha! Omg.. The joy was overpowering and I screamed with joy and gave my mum and dad the biggest hug I could in gratitude! I then ran upstairs and called me best friend who in turn had the same response! I was so happy! To say it was the best holiday was an understatement. No parents! And I was with my most closest cousins. Not many 13 year olds enjoy a parent free holiday!
Summers after then have never lived up if I’m honest! Although it was fantastic to be off school, summertime as a child was AMAZING!! And the best time! But I will most definitely try my hardest to make this a memorable summer as it may be the last with my family if I end up getting married!
Who knows.. I may have the best summers in the world with my beautiful other half, in the years to come..
