So this year for food, we done things a little differently!
Pop corn chicken
2 types of salad
Dessert is BIRTHDAY CAKE!! Get ready for pics!
My hair routine!
These not only smell divine but they leave your hair look like AMAZINGNESS! I don’t really use the shampoo just because I feel like shampoo can be compensated with the conditioner and after- care products so I tend to use Boots Botanics Shampoo because its cheap and does the job! **
Plus.. Look at the lusterizer.. Thats not wet, its.. SPARKLES!!!
I’ll be using my good old Babylis curling wand for the curling! I don’t think they sell this.. But for someone who covers their hair, I don’t really think an expensive wand is necessary so I think this cost £15-£20 about 7 years ago! Grab yourself a mid sized brush and some small clips so help with the curling process and BANG.. Instant glamorous curls!
TIP: ** These two products are really good for helping get rid of knots!
So as you guys know, I love a party!! Within reason of course and I love how as Muslims.. We get 2 Eid’s!!
Today, I’m going to do a get ready with me style blog post to show you what I wear and how I wear it! I’m also going to take you round with me on my journey and.. OF COURSE, show you our food (which is a little different this year)!
So come join me on this very special day!
So as some of you know, yesterday I had bought some presents and clothes for a very special someone!
What you dont know, is that I teach the Qu’ran to a ten year old! Now I’ve been doing this for.. 1 year and 4 months as she kindly notified me when we finished! However I wanted to make deal of the occasion!
Reading the Qu’ran is a big thing that needs to be done at some point in a Muslims life! The earlier you start, the better (just like when learning a new language). Tania is 10 years old and started when she was 9! She’s a very good student and tries her best (most of the time) and to tell the truth, I was quite a strict teacher to her! Her mum was taught by MY mother and when Tania started reading with me, she had NO CLUE about Arabic and I think it’s fair to say.. Not a lot about Islam! From a shy and timid girl, she’s growing into a strong and confident woman! I’m so proud of her for learning the Qu’ran and coming so far because her hard efforts have now paid off!
She was getting a surprise party!!!! Me and her mum had this planned for a while! To a ten year old, I think a party is the way to show one of the most important times in a persons life! And September 1st will never be forgotten!
When she finished the Qu’ran, after the last word she read, THE WHOLE FAMILY JUMPED IN THE ROOM WITH PARTY POPPERS, BALLOONS, CAKE, SILLY STRING AND GIFTS! It took a lot of planning and was very hard to keep it from her.. And the secret was sure to come out at some point but I’m so glad it didn’t! Tania didn’t suspect a thing! I know that Tania can sometimes feel that people don’t care about her and it’s hard living with a disabled brother who gets a lot of attention.. But today was JUST about her! And I’m so glad she enjoyed her party!
Here’s a few pictures I took of the event, so enjoy and I hope guys like the ideas we came up with :)
For the days to the build up of Tania’s Qu’ran completion, I gave her a new colour, which she would have to dress up as a new character for! The main reason was because every colour stood for a word and I would give her a list of things to remember and live life like with the word as the ‘KEY to the Kolour’ :)
•Green was for Good
•Blue was for Best
•Orange was for Or (organic, original, oral)
•Pink was for Prepare
•Yellow was for You
•Purple was today which stood for Perfect and that was for Tania! We all wrote things which we thought Tania done the best and the things we all loved Tania for. We gave her a gift related to that speciality as well.
Her mother is amazing! I think an inspiration to all women and she was so grateful for everything that me and mum done for her. I think all the hard work was down to Tania because through her struggle, she learnt a language which before looked like doodles to her!
It has to be said that it wasn’t easy for me! For the best part of the year, I was working where I spent 12 hours out the house and still made sure she read to me! I made sheets for her, taught her how to pray Salaah as well as many countless surahs of the Qu’ran and throughout her whole journey, she put up with me being tired and unfair on occassions. So if you’re thinking of teaching anything, remember to put your all in it! Try your best and truly teach that person like you were them.. How would you like to have been taught?
Thanks for reading guys!
Let me know of any subjects you teach and what you do to keep the lessons fresh?
What did you like best / worst about your teacher?
Now I’m all for giving gifts to people and I think there’s no better feeling than handing someone over a bag of goodies to say thank you! I’m not a great believer of birthdays apart from the closest people in my life.. The reason being because I’m grateful for them.. Although its not something that is practised in my religion. For all you Muslims out there.. If you want to say thank you to someone for all they do for you during the year.. Give people gifts on your birthday because it is your life that they have helped with.
For men aged 15+:
Clothes!! For sure! Or give them a really nice pair of shoes. You can’t go wrong with clothes and if you leave the tag on them, they’ll be able to exchange it from the same store for something else, should they wish to do so.. BAM!
£50-£100: go for aftershave or if you’re really creative make a goody box full of things they like (socks, basic t shirts, favourite foods, beauty products etc)
£100+: Here’s where the fun is.. Every birthday Mr. A has had, I’ve spent over a hundred pounds cause the variety is endless! I’ve got him an IPad, LARGE shopping spree, paint balling day with his friends, beauty and hair products galore!
Gifts for girls aged 15+:
Simple.. Beauty! So go to Boots and make use of their gift boxes! Body Shop gift packs are the best! Aim to go for things that you know they would wear though as make up is often not returnable! I would say not to go for clothes just because women are rather fussy!
£50-£100: Perfume! You can’t really go wrong with that! If you’re spending this amount money then I would actually take the girl out! Whether you go shopping or to a restaurant, whatever she likes.. Grab it for her :)
£100+: Why does no one give home gifts any more? If you got her a really nice wall decoration or something that she could put in her room, she’d love it! Alternatively, get her a really nice piece of jewellery! Cheekily find out her ring size.. And if you’re a guy.. YES! A girl will think you’re proposing so only do so if you’re serious.. But we girls promise not to take the ring too seriously ;)
