Bourjois Nail Varnish

20130821-010005.jpg

I was recently on ASOS to see what they had new in the beauty department as they often stock limited edition items and I wasn’t wrong. I saw these Bourjois nail varnishes in some of the most lovely colours I’ve ever seen.. I just had to get them!

20130821-010019.jpg

When I received them, I loved the packaging immediately and they really are tiny! But.. ‘Small and Mighty’ are the correct way to describe them. All of the swatches shown are actually done with 1 to 1&1/2 coats and they are opaque! They dry very quickly too!

With six mini nail varnishes going for £9, you can’t go wrong! I love them and have no idea which colour to paint my nails, now!

Drug Store Spring make up tutorial

I had seen an image of a pink smokey a while ago and it looked AMAZING! I tried to follow it step by step and although I loved it.. It took me about half an hour to fourth five minutes to complete the whole look! So I made a variation which could be worn day to day.
This is the original make up look

This is my take on it that took far too long!

20130226-152412.jpg
And this is the look I’ll be showing you today!

20130226-152442.jpg

Grab your Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in medium and conceal what you need to..

20130226-153336.jpg
And you’ll end up fresh faced like this..

20130226-153353.jpg

You then want to apply your foundation or whatever you like to use daily. I’m using L’oreal Nude Magique BB cream in light..

20130226-153447.jpg

I’m then using Too Faced shadow insurance on my lids..

20130226-153455.jpg

We’ll be using the Sleek Oh So Special palette for the whole look today..

20130226-153513.jpg

So on a fluffy flat too eye shadow brush I’m using this pink colour on my crease and blending it up and not letting it touch my lid..

20130226-153521.jpg
And you’ll get this..

20130226-153536.jpg

You then want to dab a pointed stubby brush in this medium brown colour and apply on the outer corner and crease of your lid..

20130226-153552.jpg
So you’ll end up with a nicely defined outer corner like this.. You want to blend this into the pink too..

20130226-153619.jpg

Using my Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, I’m going to softly line my top lash line with a small wing on the end. I like to lightly pull my eye lid so I get a clean line..

20130226-153629.jpg
And it’ll look like this..

20130226-153641.jpg

Powder your face with the translucent powder that comes in the Kick Ass Concealer kit..

20130226-153655.jpg

And you want to curl and add your Soap and Glory Thick and Fast mascara using the end of the brush to the coat the corner lashes..

20130226-153703.jpg

Use your clear mascara to tame those wild brows!

20130226-153759.jpg

And it’s time to add light into the face using L’oreal Lumi Magique primer.. You only need a small amount like this..

20130226-153857.jpg
Apply it here..

20130226-153915.jpg
Here..

20130226-153922.jpg
Here..

20130226-160211.jpg
Here..

20130226-160300.jpg
And here..

20130226-160320.jpg

You want to grab your Body Shop Lip and Cheek stain and apply this on your lips and cheeks and just add some lip balm like the Born Lippy Watermelon scented one!

20130226-161248.jpg

Curl your lashes once more, now they’re dry to give them an extra boost..

20130226-160842.jpg

And this is the finished look..

The Ritz!

20121205-162233.jpg

Today was an extremely exciting day for me! As a treat, my brother surprised me with an invite to the Ritz for afternoon tea! In his own words; “you like tea, so I thought why not?”. Couldn’t really argue with that so I went for it!

20121205-162218.jpg

This kind of stuff is right up my street and I have never really been anywhere like this with my brother before so was really happy to share the experience with him!

So we began the morning at an hour I haven’t woken up in a month since I’ve been off work! I was awoken with a lovely text message urging me to wake up immediately and rolled out of bed! It took me ages to decide what to wear because I thought it would be a cold, wet and dreary day but as soon as we got out it was AMAZING weather!

My brother decided to not wear a whole suit because that would be a little too smart for the little casual yob! Instead he opted for a mismatched suit and trouser combo which I think looked highly adequate for the event :)

20121205-162446.jpg

Jacket is from Zara
Suit jacket is VERY old and he doesn’t remember from where
The shirt is from Prada
The shoes are from Burton
The tie is from Zara
The scarf is from River Island
The underwear is from.. Got you!

I opted to go for simplicity so the only things worth mentioning are my ASOS leather lapel jacket and River Island boots (£7.50)!!!

After a hectic morning we parked the car (it took us 15 minutes to find a spot) and we then hopped on the train! After arriving, the weather was fantastic and the sun was shining brighter than ever!

Allow me to tell you the story in pictures..

October Glossy Box

20121019-171335.jpg

This months GlossyBox was not as good as I hoped it would be! However, a few key pieces made it worth my while :)

20121019-171717.jpg

I already received a Dermologica Fresh Start Kit in a previous GlossyBox and never used it because I didn’t really need such an abrasive treatment for my skin. However, in the past Dermalogica products have improved my skin so I won’t mind trying it in the future. A bit disappointed that this is the second time I’ve received this in a GlossyBox.. Perhaps they were trying to recycle some old products?? Would like to try a NEW product every month though as I thought that was their mission statement.

20121019-171349.jpg

The next product I received was Anti Blemish Skinetica which is a company I have never heard of! It’s a very watery liquid that’s suppose clear and reduce spots! I’m excited to try this and have a lot of people to recommend this to, should it work!

20121019-171746.jpg

The next item is a body scrub by a company I’ve heard so much about called THIS WORKS! Everybody has been going crazy about their skin are products! This is a very grainy and citrus smelling shower scrub which I think would be perfect for scrubbing the area with a lot of dead skin such as heels, elbows and knees!

20121019-172903.jpg

The very last item is probably the best! It’s a lipstick by Yves Rocher is this gorgeous creamy pink odour! It’s quite reminiscent of MAC impassioned but has a slightly darker tone! I think it looks great on the lips, is a great formula and is the perfect colour for a pop of colour in Autumn! This colour is the shade 101 Framboise

20121019-172909.jpg

All in all a fairly average GlossyBox this month! I love the fact they’re supporting Breast Cancer month as well! It’s a cause very close to me and its nice to know some of the money you’re spending, is going to a good charity!

Perfume/ aftershave collection.. ADDITIONS!

So I picked up 2 more perfumes today and thought I’d show you what i got! I’ve wanted these two for a long time and today finally gave in!

Bonus.. My brother bought me the Gucci one!! WOO! Aww :)

20120811-194309.jpg

The Jimmy Choo one smells fresh and floral where the Gucci one smells really mature but kind of like bubblegum to me for some reason! Yummy!

Perfume/ aftershave collection

20120809-002834.jpg
I’ve always been a massive fan of perfumes! To be honest, I can’t wear them out for religious reasons but I love wearing them at home! They make you feel so fresh, sexy, happy and attractive, when you’re probably not looking your best!

I’m a big fan of sales and perfumes are no given! So all of my perfumes, I got on sale! Some of my perfumes are gifts, some I got free with another purchase, so keep your eyes open for special deals!

Here’s my collection:

Britney Spears- Midnight Fantasy
Victoria Beckham- Intimately
Katy Perry- Purr
Madonna
Beyonce- Heat
J Lo- Glow
Rihanna- RebL Fleur
Playboy- VIP
Sarah Jessica Parker- Lovely
Stella- Stella
Nina Ricci

Paco Rabanne- Elle, 1 Million
Calvin Klein- CK one SHOCK, in2u
212- VIP

Sexy little things- Vixen
Bond NYC- I HEART NY no. 9
Various Arabic scents

Can you tell I like celebrity perfumes!? The reason being because they’re real people who have real tastes and they’re not trying to develop something for commercial use based on demand. They genuinely like the scent for themselves and I happen to like them too!

I like all kinds of smells! Mature like VB, floral like SJP and sweet like Nina Ricci (that all rhymes :))! I think different smells make you feel different things! Web I get out the shower, theres nothing I like better than choosing hitch scent to wear that evening.. Delightful!

20120809-002706.jpg

Added bonus.. Here’s Mr. A’s collection! I asked him to send me a picture of all of his aftershaves! LOVELY JUBBLY!

My skin care for men/ women

I’ve developed a method with which to do my face routine at the mo which I’m LOVING!

However, it’s only recently that I was able to do this as my skin before was really difficult to work with. As I turned 20 in December, I found my skin adapt to a new lease of life that meant it was much more manageable and I was so happy! After suffering from acne for many years before and with very dry skin, I had tried everything in the market to control the large boils I would get on my skin.

I then turned 20 and just before, I gave my skin room to breathe and rather than piling on the make up, I was more keen on not wearing make up when unnecessary and this proved to work. I know it’s hard when your skin looks awful and the lack of foundation highlights this so I only stopped wearing it when I wasn’t at work or in public! I also began washing off my makeup as soon as I was home, rather then waiting until bedtime which I think, was the main contribution. After having dry and flaky skin, it evened out and although I still have pigmentation from previous outbreaks, they are fading slowly.

My new regime:

  • Ensuring I exfoliate more as having naturally dry skin means a lot of build up of dead skin on the face (sounds gross I know), but that was also why my make up always looked strange on my face and never even! I use the Garnier Exfo Brusher (around £7.99 from Superdrug/ Boots) for my face wash which I use every morning and on the days I wash my hair.. Why? Because when you wash your hair and the shampoo goes on your face, that needs to be removed with your wash as I noticed spots forming on my forehead when I never done this. (There are two types of the face wash with another one for minimising pores that I find is extremely drying for my so would probably be good for an oily skin)
  • Ensure you’re using a face mask! Because I have naturally dry skin, I use a clay mask and I’m pulling anything away from my skin like the peel masks would. Exfoliating my skin is enough for that! I use Good Things 5 minute face mask (less than £5.99 in Superdrug/ Boots) which is specially designed for teenage skin. Although it claims to support oily skin (which I get in my T-Zone), I find it beautifully evens out my skin and leaves it glowing! As an added trick, I use the Body Shop face brush (£3) to get the mask off as I find it takes out any dead skin cells too
  • I also ensure that as soon as I get out of the shower, I touch nothing and apply my face cream straight away! I’m using Monu Revitalising moisturiser which I originally got in a GlossyBox, but I loved it so much that I repurchased it (pricier at £16- just type in google shopping for the cheapest). Although it is more than I would usually pay for something like a moisturiser, it’s amazing! It sinks into the skin and your makeup adheres better to the skin too
  • This has actually changed my Skin type and rather than having excessively dry and sensitive skin, I now have normal skin with a slight oily t-zone. I HARDLY ever get spots and I feel generally that I don’t need foundation.

    Some hints:

  • Don’t come out of the shower and start touching things with your clean hands. Ensure your hands are clean when you put your moisturiser on. When you get out of the shower, your pores are open and warm and collect anything in the air or coming in contact with them, leaving you with lots of bacteria on your skin! So don’t worry! Check your phone after you’ve applied your face cream cause even that harbours lots of dirt
  • Drink liquids! Not just water as even drinking juice has water in it! If you enjoy water then of course do so but keep your skin hydrated! I now keep a bottle of something in my bag at all times which I find myself drinking up constantly! It makes you feel refreshed and livens up your skin by boosting your water levels. Avoid sugar and dairy products as doing that also left my skin much clearer
  • Take your make up off before you go to bed.. Need I say more???
  • POP YOUR SPOTS! If you have a zit, then you have to get rid of it cause it will just increase and look more and more awful! If your skin scars easily and you don’t like the mark that a popped zit leaves.. Get over it! Im sure you’d much rather have a blemish and say you scratched yourself then have a spot and tell everyone you’re on your period :)
  • I hope this helps! I know that not many men will read this but I have Mr. A doing the same thing and his skin looks beautiful now! He’s a real athlete and he sweats a lot but this routine has helped his skin clear up a lot, I feel!

Remember.. Rather than masking your imperfections with lashings of make up, resolve the root of the problem (your skin), and watch how your confidence within yourself will increase!
