Fe-Blog-Uary Day 3 – Products I’m Excited to Try

20140202-230235.jpg

When this year started, I knew that I’d want to try lots of new products and step out of my comfort zone a little with the make up I wear and cosmetics I use, so I decided to take advantage of the things I’d usually push aside and start incorporating the things I get in Glossy Boxes and free samples! I’m mega excited to try these products so stay tuned for a follow up post about my reviews on these!

Rapid Dry Quick Dry for Nails

20140202-231541.jpg
Starting off with this spray, I actually used this recently when I needed my nails dry in a hurry and I loved it so much, I included it in my January 2014 favourites linked here for you read a full review on.

Rimmel Stay Blushed in ‘001 Pop of Pink’

20140202-231757.jpg
This jumped out to me recently when I saw it at the Rimmel stand! I love cheek stains because they look so natural and after I swatched the tester, I knew I’d like it! It’s a gorgeous bubblegum pink shade and is a paste-like consistency! I’ll let you know what I think of it after I’ve rested it out fully!

Maybelline Colossal Volum Express

20140202-232012.jpg
I’ve actually used this once before when they released this mascara with a ‘Cat Eye’ campaign and I’m not sure of they still sell it! I loved it so much that when I saw it in my Glossy Box, I squealed! I really like the look of the brush and the product’s consistency seems just right for my eyelashes.. A factor that people usually forget to check! I can’t wait for my current mascara to finish so I can try this!

HD Brows Eye Brow Palette

20140202-232256.jpg
I’m not usually into brows and they’re definitely something that I tend to ignore when I’m doing my make up.. I tend to put on clear mascara and call it a day however, they do have sparse areas that need se love so I’m excited to dog I to this HEAVILY raved about quad! You can use these as eyeshadows too.. Woo!

Seche Nail Polish in ‘Smokey’

20140202-232442.jpg
I’ve not really used many colours from Seche because they’re so expensive however, after receiving this in a Glossy Box, I can’t wait to start using dark colours on my nails again! I own another pink colour by Seche and the formula was amazing (which you’d expect based on how much they cost). This is a gorgeous charcoal grey with a slight silver shimmer running through.. Perfect for evenings!

Urban Decay Primer Potions (Original, Sin, Eden, Anti-Ageing)

20140202-232723.jpg
When I got this with my Naked 3 palette, I was so excited to try them because I’ve only ever used the ‘Original Primer Potion’ and have always wanted to try sin! I can’t wait to dip my finger in this little pots and get cracking with some funky eye looks!

What are you excited to try this year? Have you made any resolutions?

Eyeshadow Sticks.. Worth the hype?

20140129-164807.jpg

When it comes to eyeshadow, I’m one of those people who has their fazes! I don’t wear eyeshadow every single day but since last year, I’ve been CRAZY about it! I’ve purchased tonnes of new palettes and gone WAY out of my comfort zone with colours! When I found an eyeshadow stick I had got in a Glossy Box a year or so ago, I fell in love with the ease of application and the colour range! So here are some of my FAVOURITE eyeshadow sticks of all time!

Eyeko FAT Eye Stick in ‘Satin Taupe’ – £5

20140129-165109.jpg
This eyeshadow pencil, much like the name suggests is just like the MAC eyeshadow Satin Taupe, which so many people LOVE! This is an excellent way to make your eyes look a little different from the average ‘matte nude’ colours which some of us rely on so much! It’s a gorgeous olive toned brown with quite a strong shimmer running through it! It blends effortlessly, applies like butter and looks like a gorgeous sheen on the eyelid! It’s so easy to wear this as a wash of colour! It also twists up so you don’t need to sharpen it.. BONUS!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eye Shadow Stick in ‘Paranoid Purple’ – £4.49

20140129-165119.jpg
There was a big rave on blogs and beauty YouTube channels last year about this product and I was so amazed at the reviews! Everyone seemed to love the earthy tones that comes in this line but I was so drawn to this purple shade for some reason! When you swatch it, it’s a beautifully vibrant purple but when you blend it, it darkens up a bit and looks like a gorgeous deep purple with violet shimmer! Again, it blends effortlessly and applies like angels! It doesn’t break the bank either and I’m pretty sure that Rimmel is available in most countries!

Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in ‘Denim Diva’ – £3.19

20140129-165132.jpg
This stick was an impulse purchase for sure! I just loved the blue shade and it was calling to me! Again.. It’s not a colour that I would usually go for but I just fell in love with it! I bought this in the summertime because I knew that it would look fantastic in the warm evenings and I wasn’t wrong! It’s a gorgeous deep blue with a light shimmer running through and it doesn’t fail to amaze me every time I wear it! I tend to steer clear of blues because they often contradict my skin tone however, this looks amazing with just a wash on the lid and then blended with a skin tone colour around the edges! I love the lasting power of this one too!

In conclusion, YES! I love eyeshadow sticks and they have definitely become a new favourite makeup item of mine! I like all these crayon type make up products because they’re amazing for travel! I’ll be going away for a few days soon and know that I’ll have at least 3 ‘stick forms’ of makeup somewhere in my makeup bag! I really like them for their buttery-ness and application because it’s superb! Even drug store alternatives like the ones I’ve shown, they’re great! Definitely a must- have!

Red Roulette

20140113-001411.jpg

For those of you who don’t know, red is my favourite colour and I LOVE red makeup on my skin tone! I don’t often wear red clothes but I always manage find a way to wear red somewhere on me! Take a look at my favourite red makeup products!

Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Cherry Tart’ – £5 (On offer at Superdrug right now with 3 for 2)

20140113-002149.jpg

20140113-002209.jpg

20140113-002228.jpg

When it comes to red lips, it’s a stark and sometimes outlandish thing to wear with a hijab so I find wearing a sheer wash of it on the lips is a nice way to pull it off. Lip butters have superb colour pay off and are super moisturising too! They don’t hurt the bank balance too much either!

Elizabeth Arden High Shine Lip Gloss in ‘Golden Red’ – £15

20140113-003308.jpg

20140113-003324.jpg

20140113-003342.jpg

As well as sheer lipsticks, lip glosses are a nice way to wear red. This Elizabeth Arden red is a vibrant red with amazing gold glitter in it! It makes the red a little more subtle somehow and it makes your lips look incredible! This colour would suit most skin tones!

MAC blusher in ‘Frankly Scarlet’ – £18

20140113-004022.jpg

20140113-004051.jpg

The scariest blush you’ve ever seen? I thought so too, until I tried it on and it blew me away! This was the second purchase I ever made from MAC and It’s one of my all time favourite MAC products! It creates an amazing flush to the cheeks but doesn’t look too much.. Just apply it with a light hand because it’s super pigmented! Darker skin..? This would look AMAZING on you!

MakeUp Geek Eyeshadow in ‘Razzleberry’ – £3.63

20140113-004555.jpg

20140113-004611.jpg

MakeUp Geek eyeshadows are one of my favourite brands of eyeshadow! MAC quality for a fraction of the price! They’re super pigmented and this colour is amazing! It’s a reddish/ pink with gold glitter running through it! Notorious for being hard to wear on eyes, red isn’t the easiest colour to wear but experiment with it to see how it best suits you.

Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Sunset’ – £7.99

20140113-005825.jpg

20140113-005846.jpg

I love Sleek palettes and this red-based palette makes wearing red eyeshadow so easy! The colours are mostly shimmery but there is a matte black. I love how the colour mix together to form new shades and how they look on their lonesome! I don’t use it a tonne during the summer but for some reason I love the way the colours look on pale winter skin!

Nails Inc. ‘Big Red Apple’ – £11.99
Rimmel 60 seconds ‘Double Decker Red’ – £3.69
Essie ‘Russian Roulette’ – £7.99

Bicester Village Haul: DKNY and MAC

Whilst I was in Bicester Village and was bumping into all the shops I wasn’t interested in, I FINALLY went into a store called ‘The Cosmetics Company’, which little to my knowledge was an outlet store (which I should have known because Bicester Village is outlet central). I was so happy to see some amazing brands in there but obviously I was drawn to their MAC counter, where they had their limited edition collections at a discount! I wanted everything, but chose this..

November Glossy Box 2013

20131113-190327.jpg

20131113-190450.jpg

It’s that time again.. Time to look at what I’ve received in my Glossy Box this fine November month!

20131113-190748.jpg
Vichy Trio (Idéalia and Idéalia Life Serum)
Having received a sample of this before, I knew what to expect from this cream! The scent is lovely but really overpowering and definitely not for those of us with sensitive skin! However, I do like the serum which is of course, thinner in consistency and slightly easier to wear.. I didn’t notice any differences in my skin from using this though.

20131113-191159.jpg
Scholl Dry Skin Exfoliator
This seems really good and I was so happy it came in a full size! It’s quite gritty but isn’t sharp and leaves skin feeling soft! I think this would be great on any dry skin areas such as elbows or knees too!

20131113-191207.jpg
Elegant Touch Rapid Dry For Nails
I have never tried anything like this before so I’m excited to give it a go. The idea is that you spray this on tower nails and it makes your nails dry in 60 seconds! And again.. Full size!

20131113-191217.jpg
Yves Rocher Elegant Touch Cacao Orange and Chocolate Hand Cream
Ok, let’s not go any further without mentioning the fact that this smells like Terry’s chocolate orange flavour! I tried this as soon as I could and I wanted to eat my own hands after trying it! It smelt truly incredible! It’s not greasy feeling and absorbs almost immediately! This full size went straight in my handbag!

20131113-191225.jpg
Emite Micronized Eyeshadow in Dams
The last full size product and it’s the strangest eyeshadow ever! This cruelty and bad-chemical free eyeshadow is like suede to the touch! It’s a matte black colour with no fallout! The pigmentation isn’t great, but the eyeshadow blends beautifully and creates a really nice hazey looking smokey eye!

Autumn beauty favourites

I love me some cold weather, hence why you’ll notice a lot of blog posts about the weather this time of year! I like to stick to some staple pieces throughout autumn and here they are:

20131101-180449.jpg

20131101-180459.jpg
Avon super shock gel eyeliner ‘Blackberry’ – £6
When it comes to eyeliner, I’m the Queen! I have tonnes of colours and it’s my ‘go-to’ for when I want to add colour to my face! I like using black but during autumn, I like to use a slightly more warmer colour and a deep red is perfect for that. I have brown eyes, so using brown and red tones compliments them a lot and oxblood, maroon and scarlet are the top autumn colours! This eyeliner is so long lasting and it’s super pigmented! It’s actually a really deep purple colour with intense red glitter in it hence the shade- blackberry. Has superb lasting time and is super pigmented too! I love using this on the waterline and smudging into my top lashes when I want extra smoke (as shown in image above).

20131102-170321.jpg

20131102-170501.jpg
Accessorize Merged Baked Blusher ‘Scandal’ – £5
** Currently not available on their website
When I first purchased this blusher Miss. A one day, I knew if love it! It’s a gorgeous metallic-looking dusty pink! I applied it to my cheeks when I was quite tanned and to be honest, it was almost invisible. Then when I tried using it as my tan wore off, it began to look better and better! It has a gorgeous sheen which doesn’t look like glitter at all and is so pigmented.. Even though it’s baked, it has a lot of depth to it and isn’t a flat colour! It’s smooth to apply and although I first thought it wouldn’t look good as a blusher on darker skin, it adds a gorgeous glow when used as a highlight! I love this stuff and because it’s so valuable, I love it even more! It’s perfect for adding a glow to your skin during the drier months!

20131102-171414.jpg

20131102-171533.jpg
Maybelline Forever Strong Pro ‘Midnight Red’ – £4.09
Ok let’s just appreciate how beautiful this nail varnish is! I love it for adding a bit of colour to the hands! It’s really long lasting and lasts like a gel meaning it doesn’t chip at all and had a high gloss finish! I really like the brush and colour pay off, too! It’s as cheap as chips and Maybelline is available in any country.. WOOHOO!

20131102-180722.jpg

20131102-180754.jpg
Bourjois Shine Edition ’23’ – £7.99
When this range of lipsticks came out, I was so excited to try a few and I grabbed them as soon as I can! The colours I chose were very autumnal and this one is by far and beyond, one of my favourites! I really like red and purple tones and this combines both if my loves! It really is shiny and has a real glossy look to it on your lips. It’s super pigmented and all thought not very long lasting, it is super easy to top up! It’s good value for money and they have a great colour range too.. Definitely one to check out!

20131102-181549.jpg

20131102-181601.jpg
MAC Sheertone Blush ‘Breath of Plum’ – £18
I like bright blushers and I definitely cannot have a face without it! So when I saw this shade earlier on this year, I knew I’d love using it in autumn! It’s sheer, so isn’t a strong rush of purple colour which would look odd and so adds a deep colour without looking dark! It’s a good change from the bright shades because deep colours look better on pale and cold looking skin! It’s soft to touch and is super finely milled colour.. Superb!

20131102-182122.jpg

20131102-182132.jpg
KIKO Eyeshadow ‘133’ – £1.99
When I bought this eyeshadow, I wanted to use it as a blending colour when doing dark smokey eyes, but I love it so much as a smokey shade alone, it’s become a staple for autumn for me! It’s a deep burgundy colour with a copper undertone! It looks super nice mixed with the Avon eyeliner, and it matches so well! It is really pigmented and is soft and smooth to blend! I love this shade for autumn heaps and bounds!

20131102-183725.jpg

20131102-183746.jpg
Real Techniques ‘Expert Face’ Brush – £9.99
The hype of Real Techniques brushes is so high at the moment and it’s evident why when you use this brush! It’s a dense and stuff synthetic brush which is slightly oval shape! It’s so good to use with cream products and heavy powdering! Apply blush, highlighter, bronzer, contour, foundation, concealer and even powder with this brush and your makeup will look flawless! It’s as cheap as chips and lasts so well even after washing! I love using this brush as much as possible and for most of the face products listed above, this brush works perfectly!

KIKO make up haul

20130908-142538.jpg

Continuing on with my haul from the last blog post, here are the items I bought from KIKO!

The first items I picked up, were these creamy lipgloss sticks. Very similar to the chubby sticks by way of the packaging and product inside too! I feel as though these last a little longer though. They are glossy and are quite sheer too (which is my favourite combination). I chose 3 colours!

20130904-102123.jpg

20130904-102132.jpg

20130904-102341.jpg
** KIKO Creamy Lipgloss in 102: £6.50

20130904-102349.jpg
** KIKO Creamy Lipgloss in 110: £6.50

20130909-110559.jpg
** KIKO pH lip enhancer in 100: £6.50

These individual eyeshadows also caught my eye after I knocked a few over with my bag in the store! I chose colours that I could wear alone and wouldn’t have to pair up with anything else! The are super creamy and pigmented. They all have a sheen or glitter in them but its not chunky and they don’t have a tonne of fallout. These remind me of MAC eyeshadows with the same type of quality.

20130904-102805.jpg

20130904-102811.jpg
** KIKO eyeshadows in shades (left to right): 166, 116, 133, 148 – £2.90 each

I then saw these lipsticks and the colours caught my eye! I’ve been trying to use lip products more because I feel like changing your lips can change your whole face instantly! When I saw these colours, I knew they’d be perfect for slamming in my handbag and topping up on the go! They’re lovely pink and brown nudes (can you tell which colours I like?). Although they’re sheer, they’re glossy and have a lovely gold flex running through! They’re semi- sheer and really moisturising with a comfortable application!

20130904-103200.jpg

20130904-103205.jpg

20130909-110341.jpg

20130909-110351.jpg
** KIKO smart lipsticks in shades: 903, 917 – £1.90 each

I’m a sucker for eyeshadow palettes! More so, for KIKO eyeshadow palettes which I own a few of already! I remember seeing these on their website and loving the colours but when I actually tried them in store, I was literally left with my mouth hanging wide open! They are the creamiest and softest eyeshadows in the world! I have never felt such strongly pigmented and rich colours in any product before! They blend so well and look so vibrant it’s crazy! I am definitely going to get the other palettes!

20130908-142017.jpg

20130908-142026.jpg
** KIKO colour impact eyeshadow palette in ‘Bright Night Lights 03’ – £16.90

When I saw this nail varnish, I was intrigued about how it would look. Whilst I was checking out, I saw this sitting there for £1 and grabbed it! The colour is a beautiful pastel blue with a slight purple tinge. The ‘sugar mat’, isn’t so interesting! It’s really gritty and after having it on for only a few minutes, I knew it wasn’t practical! It’s fairly sharp and feels like super hard sandpaper. Moreover, it looks like your nail varnish has major air bubbling going on, so I’m not too crazy about this but, I’ll hold on to it for the next type I’m carving wooden sculptures!

20130908-142254.jpg
** KIKO Sugar Mat nail lacquer in ‘635 Wisteria’ – £1

For all the products I bought, visit their website here. They have excellent shipping and have a super clearance section with their previous collections at mega low prices!

Top 5 L’oreal products

20130819-175020.jpg

When it comes to drug store/ high street brands, L’oreal is up there in my top favourites! Continuing on with my ‘top 5’ series, here’s my favourite 5 products from this lovely brand!

I purchased Nude Magique BB cream a while back when it was first released and I fell in love with it! The idea behind it is that the product comes out a grey colour and the more you blend it in, it adapts to your skin tone and has coverage! It looks super natural on the skin and you can barely feel it! It kind of dries to a powder consistency so doesn’t let you shine. It is supposed to have BB qualities too but I’m not too fussed about that.. It’s just a bonus. It doesn’t have a massive range of colours but because it adapts to your skin, you can generalise a shade.
20130819-175047.jpg
L’oreal Paris Nude Magique BB Cream in ‘light’ – £9.99

I bought the Lumi Magique primer a while back (around 2 years ago) when I first heavily got into make up but didn’t want to spend a lot on it. I really wanted to try a primer to see what it could do and this one, to this day, is one of my favourite. It’s a luminous primer which makes your skin look glowing! You can mix it with your foundation, moisturiser or normal primer to create an overall dewy look. You can use it as a highlighter on the peaks of your face. You can even use as an eyeshadow/ base. It has such a natural pearl which doesn’t look shiny or greasy on your skin and it helps your make up last longer too!

20130819-175301.jpg

20130819-175306.jpg
L’oreal Lumi Magique Primer – £9.99

This one is a recent purchase for me but I have fallen in love with it straight away! A while back.. L’oreal used to sell a carbon gloss liquid eyeliner which they discontinued, much to the dismay of a lot of eyeliner lovers! The nib and product in this is really similar (although not as glossy). I really like how you can create a really thin or thick line depending on your hand pressure! It’s a must for new eyeliner- users! It doesn’t dry out quickly, you can use it on top of eyeshadows and is really long lasting on the lid. It’s also very black and highly pigmented!

20130819-175334.jpg

20130819-175339.jpg
L’oreal Superliner Perfect Slim in ‘Black Intense’ – £6.99

When the Revlon Lip Butters were released, L’oreal quickly bought out competition in the way of these Rouge Caresse lipsticks! They’re a moisturising and sheer colour that are super flattering! Every colour would suit any skin tone. I like the packaging too because it feels high end, even though it’s not. They don’t have the best longevity but because they’re not a bold colour, they’re quick to reapply. I love the shade I got in this coral red colour which adds a super nice pop of colour without being dramatic!

20130819-175409.jpg

20130819-175448.jpg

20130819-175453.jpg
L’oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in ‘Aphrodite Scarlet’ – £7.99

Web it comes to eyeshadows, for quite some time, I remember L’oreal being behind the other brands because they never had anything really worth me ruining.. May be a few mediocre eyeshadow palettes. Then they bought out these bad boys.. Colour Infallible eyeshadows! There are a tonne of nice colours to choose from so to choose one was hard for me! The big deal about these is that they’re actually a pressed pigment which come with a stopper on the top to keep the pigment from spilling everywhere.. Something which all pigments do! They are pigmented, easy to use and cheap & cheerful!

20130819-175511.jpg

20130819-175557.jpg
L’oreal Colour Infallible Eyeshadow in ‘Flashback Silver (15) – £6.99

FYI.. Feel Unique (free worldwide shipping), Superdrug and Boots all have offers on L’oreal products at the moment!

Top 5 MAC products

20130816-192314.jpg

I’ve decided to show you a series of blog posts all about my ‘top five’ items from a specific brand! And what better brand to kick off than MAC?

20130816-192339.jpg

20130816-192344.jpg

20130816-192401.jpg

In my beautiful Z Palette I house the only MAC eye shadow I have and it’s my all time favourite eye shadow! I saw Cranberry from MAC in a video by FleurDeForce on YouTube and fell in love with it! I have brown/green eyes so I knew that this colour would look good.. And I was right! Definitely a strong wedding day eyeshadow choice for me! Cranberry is exactly that.. A red cranberry colour (a deep red) and it has a red glitter flex running through it! Although its a cold colour, I find myself reaching towards it every time I want a pop of colour! It’s not too bold so looks fairly natural (as far as reds go). If you have red eyes, this will enhance them and similarly I find that when my skin is looking dull, it makes me look more tired, so be aware! I love how strongly pigmented and creamy it is!

20130816-192408.jpg
** I’ve worn cranberry (MAC) on the lid, Peaches and Cream (MakeUp Geek) on the crease and Bitten (MakeUp Geek) on the outer corner slightly
Cranberry by MAC – £10

20130816-193227.jpg
My next favourite has to be Pink Swoon blusher by MAC. If I could choose only one product to live with, it would be blusher and this one is perfect! I rave about Pink Swoon in so many blog posts because of its versatility and how beautiful it looks on! No matter what your skin tone, this blush will look perfect on you! It looks bright in the pan but its actually sheer so you can wear it lightly or build it up and because it’s so creamy and blend able, it looks natural! I love this blusher! It also looks super nice as an eyeshadow and I like using clear lip balm and then dabbing this on top.

20130816-193237.jpg
Pink Swoon blusher by MAC – £18

20130816-194020.jpg

20130816-193503.jpg
Next stop.. Studio Fix badass powder! Again, a love of mine! I think the thing I love most about this is the amazing colour match this powder has to my skin! I picked this up from Madrid at the airport and the lady matched me up to C4.5 and she hit the nail on the head! Not only is the coverage of this powder just like that of a medium coverage foundation, but the texture, blend-ability and pigmentation is perfectly natural! It stays put all day and is perfect for touching up!

20130816-193510.jpg
Studio Fix powder in C4.5 by MAC – £24.50

20130816-194029.jpg

20130816-193752.jpg
Just like I rave about Pink Swoon, I rave about Cosmo lipstick by MAC! It’s a beautiful nude, rose, pinky brown shade! It’s so hard to explain but I think the cliche ‘my lips but better’ really comes into play here! It looks super natural but the formula is moisturising and it’s super pigmented! It lasts really well on the lips too and even wears off beautifully! I can’t say enough good things about this stuff!

20130816-193756.jpg
Cosmo lipstick (amplified) by MAC – £15

20130816-194035.jpg
OBVIOUSLY, MAC is really well known for their makeup tools as well and my favourite one of them all is the 224 brush! This was a 6-month-ago purchase for me and I’m smitten! The brush is perfect for blending in the crease because of its tampered domed shape! Not only does it work well on the eyes, you can contour, conceal and highlight with this brush too because its that perfect universal size! I like it better than the 217 which I don’t use half as much although, people talk more about that! The 224 is just too versatile for me to ignore!
