Maybelline Baby Lips.. Finally!

20130816-200956.jpg

I had read on a few blogs that Maybelline had finally released their infamous ‘baby lips’ in the UK and I had been keeping my eyes peeled for them but hadn’t seen them until now!

I really wanted to try them because I always seem to have dry lips and I love a bit of tint.. Not to mention anything that smells good, on my lips! These seemed like the perfect token!

The packaging seems a bit flimsy and not really the kind that I’d happily whip out when meeting the Queen as its loud and bright (not to mention a bit flimsy) however, I don’t mind! I can tell I’m not paying for packaging because the product is cheap so I understand their thinking!

When choosing the colours I had a choice between Cherry Me and Peaches because they were the only colours that appealed to me however, I wanted to try just the one for now so being an avid fan of the Haribo Cherries, I chose Cherry Me!

Ok.. The smell! I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN! I want to eat it! It has that typical candy cherry scent! If you’ve ever had Cherry Drops, Cherry penny sweets or anything sweet cherry flavoured, you’ll understand! I love the fact that once I’ve got it on my lips and whilst I’m applying, people ask what smells so good!

The colour isn’t super pigmented but I like the sheer colour it does have! It’s almost transparent apart from a very light red hue that you notice once you look hard!

The moisturising factor is mediocre! Nothing uber drenching or anything but I like the finish which isn’t super glossy or super matte! You could literally wear this with any makeup look and it would suit adequately!

20130816-201010.jpg

All in all, I’m a big fan! I really like these and I know I’ll get through this ‘Cherry Me’ one in no time! So I’ll be sure to try some more soon!

Baby lips are £2.99 from Boots or Superdrug

My updated skin care routine

20130815-183115.jpg

As some of you guys may know, there are certain skin care products which I have stuck to for a long time now! I tend to get stuck in a rut when it comes to my skin and if I find something I love, I stick to it!

Up until the age of 18 or 19, I had quite problematic skin: acne prone, extremely dry in some areas, extremely oily in others, bumpy spots, enlarged pores, sensitivity. Granted, my acne wasn’t crazy bad, but it was really noticeable on my pasty face!

I changed my basic routine and invested in some products which changed my skin by heaps and bounds but a few months ago, I thought I could still do better and really target the problems I still had, so I changed my skin care completely!

Problems:
Enlarged pores
Oily T-Zone
Sebum filled spots beneath my skin
Dry Patches

20130815-183845.jpg

The first thing that I changed was my moisturiser as that is what is supposed to protect your skin throughout the day and as it stays on your skin the longest, it’s usually the reason for breakouts etc. I was lucky enough to receive an AMAZING moisturiser in my Glossy Box a few months ago! I wrote a mini review here. Premae Harmony Moisturising Creme Balm does not only feel amazing and do wonders for your skin but, it’s an amazing make up base! It’s quite pricey though, so I don’t know what I’ll do once this one is finished.. Should I go in for the plunge? However, you need the smallest amount and it feels like nothing on your skin! It goes matte after applying and makes your pores look almost invisible! No mess, no hassle!
Problems solved: Dry patches, Oily T Zone, Enlarged Pores
** Will link soon as Premae website is under construction at the moment

I then went in for the plunge in May and bought a Clarisonic Mia 2 as it had been so raved about in the beauty industry! I had read tens of reviews and videos on YouTube about the effects it had and because all of them seemed to be amazing, I caved! I bought mine from Harrods for £125. It’s not cheap at all but I think about it, as a toothbrush for my face and seen as my toothbrush cost £100, it kind of makes sense! The Clarisonic is basically an exfoliating brush which vibrates at two different speeds (depending on what you choose). It’s supposed to remove dead skin, cleanse and improve your generally skin! It’s INCREDIBLE! Because it has interchangeable brush heads, you can change them to suit your skin type! I’ve already bought the ‘Deep Pore Cleansing’ brush heads however it came with the sensitive head. I never saw results immediately and in fact, have only noticed the results from around July so it takes a while to kick in (may be because I don’t have sensitive skin). I use this one in the morning and if I’m washing my hair, I’ll use it twice that day. It makes your skin feel squeaky clean after use, I have had no spots since using it and my pores are looking smaller and smaller every week! And because it times each section of your face, you don’t have to think and washing your whole face only takes a minute!
Problems solved: Enlarged pores, Dry Patches, Sebum filled spots under my skin

With the Clarisonic, I’d like to thank my brother for introducing me to my new all time favourite face wash L’oreal men expert Pure Power Charcoal Wash! I know it’s actually for men but I can’t help but rave about this. It’s very strange in the sense that it’s a black liquid that lathers into a grey foam which helps you to see where the product is being applied! It has a cooling sensation which came in so handy last month when England had a heat wave! It works super well with my Clarisonic and it feels like it’s giving my face a deep clean! I don’t get any dryness after this and I feel like this is also a factor for my smaller looking pores.
Problems solved: Dry Patches, Enlarged Pores

20130815-183920.jpg

To remove my makeup, I’ve been using this method for almost a year and to me, it’s fool proof! I’m a baby wipe and Bio Derma kinda gal! I used to use a different cleanser and then wash my face but that made my skin so tight and dry and then cause me to have breakouts! It was all very confusing until I went to France and bought Bio Derma from a pharmacy! It changed my skin in the sense that it didn’t feel like I was over moisturising or over drying my skin. The only thing I’d say negatively about Bio Derma is that it has a film-like residue after you apply it. After using it for a year, I haven’t broken from it so it can’t be that bad but everyone has different skin! I just wish it was sold in the UK as I’m running low! For baby wipes. I just use the cheapest ones I can find and they are these Huggies value pack baby wipes which come with 64 wipes and they last me ages! For £0.99p, you can’t go wrong!
Problems solved:
Oily T Zone

For my dry lips, Nivea Creme all the way! It’s cheap, ultra moisturising and I’d consider it one of my holy grail products of all time!

September non/ beauty favourites

So I recently done my beauty favourites of September and thought I’d stir the waters by doing a non beauty favourites post!!! All about the things I like or have enjoyed doing during the month is August!

Lets start with.. SURPRISES!!! So as some of you may have read, I had a lovely cousin of mine come round and seen as ill be moving away soon after getting married, I wanted to make her stay special! I loved giving her surprises throughout the day and seeing her reaction on the things I had planned! I done a double whammy by surprising my mum along with her though :) surprising people with gifts, favours or good is definitely a favourite of mine that I will continue to do!

20121003-194014.jpg

Favourite place of the month has to go to the Millennium Dome! It’s now Valle the o2 Arena but was built in the year 2000 as a mark of the new millennium! It took years to build and is right on the edge of the River Thames in Central London! I am from London, live in London and LOVE London but had never been! So I had such a good time when I went there for the first time last week! I loved the rather, atmosphere and the beautiful scenery! If you live in the UK, definitely check out all the offers that are available for the shows in the o2 because its definitely worth it.

20121003-193922.jpg

Next has to be a favourite food! What have I loved eating??? Has to be donuts! I’ve got an obsession with them! I’ve loved munching through the icing and sprinkles to a chewy soft centre! In fact, ill be doing a blog post on how to make your own donuts soon!

20121003-193842.jpg

The next favourite is a piece of clothing! For me, this has to be the new flatforms that have come into fashion recently! I recently bought a pair from River Island and will be purchasing more as time goes on because they are SO comfy! Just be careful, because of their shape, they can hurt the ball of your foot if you stand for too long!

20121003-193935.jpg

Next favourite.. I don’t a blog post on it too! GLASSES AND HIJAB! I’ve loved this new look and I’m SOOOOO going to be wearing this to death this winter! If like me, the prescription of your lenses is quite high and your glasses make your eyes look small, order some clear lens glasses and wear with contacts for a bold fashion statement! ASOS have some great pairs that I’ve bought recently!

20121003-193928.jpg

Last but not least, my favourite interior decorating item is candles! The colder months have arrived and there’s nothing I love more than lighting a massive candle and eating some yummy good! I’m loving angle ornaments too! This tea light holder I got from TK Maxx and I would recommend keeping your eyes peeled with their products because I’ve been visiting there more and more often!

Paralympics 2012 London

20120911-003713.jpg

I done a post on the 2012 Olympics and mentioned how all the participants done so well! Then the Paralympics came round.. And I’m speechless!

20120911-003707.jpg

People say that they’re Superhumans and I took that so lightly! I shrugged it off and made nothing of it because I never realised the impact their ‘disability’ had on their lives!

20120911-003727.jpg

When the opening ceremony arrived, I looked the athletes that came in on wheelchairs, with no arms, no legs and some with no limbs at all! And that’s where I thought.. How will these people swim, fight and play? How is it humanly possible to do so?

The first game I watched was Basketball.. Which quickly became my favourite! I LOVE IT! As well as watching it for the Olympics, I’ll keep up to date with it throughout the USA, Canada and GB players careers because they’re amazing! How a player can shoot a ball from a standstill (or sit still), with one hand and LAUNCH it to the other side of the court.. It’s beyond my understanding how they do it!

20120911-003722.jpg

The training they do is excruciating! Not only for athletes who train day in and day out without the help needed of equipment! Remember.. The sprinters on the tracks have to take the weight of their wheelchairs too.. With their arms!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING!!!

20120911-004513.jpg

What us viewers and spectators fail to realise is that these people train for YEARS! Not a few months prior. They put their life and soul into their dreams and they don’t stop until they succeed!

These people who have no limbs.. A tragedy which we feel will leave them unable to live their lives normally.. But look at them! They live their lives EVEN MORE! They go abseiling, bun-jee jumping and take part in the worldwide phenomenon.. The Olympics!!

How can a person who has no vision, throw something so far? Someone who has no arms, swim? Someone who has no legs, run? It’s amazing!!!

20120911-003735.jpg

Once again:
To all the staff.. Including my beautiful cousin, Miss. A.. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You worked in the Olympics which is probably one of the most rarest jobs in the world!

To all the volunteers.. Thank you for everything you did to make these games so special.

To all the coaches, trainers and health people.. You made some of the best athletes

But most of all.. To the athletes..

Thank you for opening the eyes of those people who are so naive to think that having a physical problem would limit your dreams.

Congratulations for taking part in a once in a lifetime opportunity.. If you’re in the UK, your one-time dream of competing in the most prestigious event in your hometown.. YOU DID IT!

Well Done for being so brave! You are like no other human on the planet.. You’re truly unique!

20120911-003744.jpg

Next time you see someone in a wheelchair, don’t label them disabled.. They’re not.. They’re able! More than able! They’re incred-ABLE!

BLOGGING DAY #6

The end of the day is here and it’s been lovely today! I really like blogging like this because when I look over it, it reminds me of the lovely things I did!

Little things people take for granted a lot! Today when I woke up and the sun was shining, I went straight into my garden and just sat in the sun for half an hour before enjoying an amazing breakfast!

20120909-222835.jpg

Watching the movie! I had Tania (my little qu’ran student), over watching it with me! We had a lot of fun watching the movie and playing games too! Look at some of the stuff we made with yarn!

20120909-223110.jpg

As well as that, I got to do some pampering too! I love pulling out my facial masks, creams and lotions and potions to treat myself at the end of the week! (No, I don’t use ALL of this stuff, LOL).

BLOGGING DAY #4

After coming home in the evening time, me and mum were STARVING! And we had no clue what to make for dinner! The worst thing about the heat is that you don’t want to stand next to a hot stove and be in the boiling kitchen!

So I got my knives, chopping board and some vegetable! The idea was that we would make wraps! But rather than using the fajita wraps, we would use either roti that was very thinly made or pockets!

20120909-205633.jpg

I cut as many vegetables as I could find! Tomatoes, cucumbers, jalapeño peppers, red pepper, onions, grated carrots and I also chopped up some coriander! You ain’t Asian if you don’t use coriander!

We then got the wraps on! Mum made some mince meat! She made it as spicy as she can!

20120909-205648.jpg

Method:
• Brown onions slightly in oil
• Add garlic and ginger (to taste)
• Add your mince
• Time for spice! 1 teaspoon turmeric, chilli powder
• Add the lid on the pan for about 20 mins or until you think the meat is cooled and TADAA!

20120909-221600.jpg

Get your wraps ready and add the salad, mince and any sauces you like! Personally, I like a squeeze of lemon because momma made the mince so spicy! I also found some chicken leftover from the day before which is what you see in the bowl! This makes it more like the traditional fajita!
