Limited edition Real Techniques Brushes

20130526-230734.jpg

Sam from Pixiwoo done it again with a new set if brushes that have had me ditch all my other brushes! If there’s one thing I love in a make up brush, it’s duo fibres!

I bought a MAC limited edition Duo fibre brush set a while back and haven’t touched it (I’m finding it hard to start using it cause its so pristine).

**You can get them from Boots and Superdrug in the UK.

The brushes are uber soft and have such a good density to them! They apply effortlessly and pick up powders like a magnet and the eye shadow brush blends seamlessly! I really like the black and white design, too because it stands out from all my other brushes!

I wish the brushes came in a limited edition travel case though because although the brushes look good, the foam padding they came in is not good for storing them in when using a make up bag.

Cheaper versions of high end products.. DUPES!

I’d just like to start this blog post by saying COME ON YOU DEVILS!!! Roooooo-bin Vaaaaaa-an Perrrr-siee! That’s Manchester United’s little miracle because they won THE TITLE.. For those of you wondering :)

20130422-234433.jpg

When it comes to high end products, they cost way too much to justify sometimes and I don’t see why those of us with lower budgets should miss out! So here’s a list of my favourite products with cheaper versions!

Laura Mercier Mineralised Powder is the exact same consistency and coverage as Rimmel Stay Matte powder! Obviously the two colours shown are different but they look the exact same on!
Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed powder in Real Sands: £31
Rimmel Stay Matte: £3.99

Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner has a gorgeous creamy consistency and is super black! It glides on and stays on! Elizabeth Arden is completely black too and although glides on, it smudges and smears and I don’t think it looks as nice and crisp as the Avon!
Elizabeth Arden eye liner in smokey black: £16
Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner in black: £6

Everyone should have a nude or dark-ish kind of of lip liner to enhance your lips! I love the consistency of the Elizabeth Arden one but the LA colours one has a lovely colour which looks good when worn all over the lips too!
Elizabeth Arden lip liner in Taupe: £16
LA Colours lip liner in P512 Natural: £1

NARS Sheer Glow foundation is my absolute favourite! I love the way it looks and the staying power is amazing! I found a good dupe in the way of Bourjois Bio Detox which feels and looks the same! I love wearing the Bourjois in winter, hence the darker shade because it looks flawless and doesn’t let you look sweaty.. NICE!
NARS Sheer Glow in Light 4 Deauville: £31
Bourjois Bio Detox in 53: £7.99

MACs Pink Swoon has been my first and most favourite blush from MAC ever! And when I found this 17 one in Boots for a fraction of the price, I was in awe! They’re both silky and look the exact same on the cheeks! Fresh and pink ready for Spring!
MAC Pink Swoon: £17.50
17 Blusher in China Pink: £3.49

Who doesn’t like a pink lip??? It looks good on everyone! When I went to Paris, I wore this pink lipstick by YSL everyday and me and Miss. A couldn’t help stare at it constantly! Then I saw this MUA lipstick and it looked so similar and is even more creamy! Where the YSL is a gloss, the MUA is creamy!
YSL Rouge Pure Shine lipstick in Tuxedo Pink: £22.50
MUA lipstick in Shade 3: £1

I’ve truly saved the best until last! This urban Decay Naked palette is the most raved about product in the beauty industry! When I saw this MUA palette, I saw how similar it was.. In fact it’s the EXACT SAME! You’d be silly to buy the Urban Decay for such a high price when the MUA has the same pay off for so much cheaper!
Urban Decay Naked palette: £32
MUA Undressed palette: £4

Drug Store Spring make up tutorial

I had seen an image of a pink smokey a while ago and it looked AMAZING! I tried to follow it step by step and although I loved it.. It took me about half an hour to fourth five minutes to complete the whole look! So I made a variation which could be worn day to day.
This is the original make up look

This is my take on it that took far too long!

20130226-152412.jpg
And this is the look I’ll be showing you today!

20130226-152442.jpg

Grab your Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in medium and conceal what you need to..

20130226-153336.jpg
And you’ll end up fresh faced like this..

20130226-153353.jpg

You then want to apply your foundation or whatever you like to use daily. I’m using L’oreal Nude Magique BB cream in light..

20130226-153447.jpg

I’m then using Too Faced shadow insurance on my lids..

20130226-153455.jpg

We’ll be using the Sleek Oh So Special palette for the whole look today..

20130226-153513.jpg

So on a fluffy flat too eye shadow brush I’m using this pink colour on my crease and blending it up and not letting it touch my lid..

20130226-153521.jpg
And you’ll get this..

20130226-153536.jpg

You then want to dab a pointed stubby brush in this medium brown colour and apply on the outer corner and crease of your lid..

20130226-153552.jpg
So you’ll end up with a nicely defined outer corner like this.. You want to blend this into the pink too..

20130226-153619.jpg

Using my Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, I’m going to softly line my top lash line with a small wing on the end. I like to lightly pull my eye lid so I get a clean line..

20130226-153629.jpg
And it’ll look like this..

20130226-153641.jpg

Powder your face with the translucent powder that comes in the Kick Ass Concealer kit..

20130226-153655.jpg

And you want to curl and add your Soap and Glory Thick and Fast mascara using the end of the brush to the coat the corner lashes..

20130226-153703.jpg

Use your clear mascara to tame those wild brows!

20130226-153759.jpg

And it’s time to add light into the face using L’oreal Lumi Magique primer.. You only need a small amount like this..

20130226-153857.jpg
Apply it here..

20130226-153915.jpg
Here..

20130226-153922.jpg
Here..

20130226-160211.jpg
Here..

20130226-160300.jpg
And here..

20130226-160320.jpg

You want to grab your Body Shop Lip and Cheek stain and apply this on your lips and cheeks and just add some lip balm like the Born Lippy Watermelon scented one!

20130226-161248.jpg

Curl your lashes once more, now they’re dry to give them an extra boost..

20130226-160842.jpg

And this is the finished look..

Make up brushes!

20120904-182551.jpg

When I first got into make up, I used to always wonder what was the best way to apply the make up!

20120904-180753.jpg

I went on eBay and found the most cheapest set of brushes I could find! When they arrived after 4 months of waiting, they were REALLY bad fake MAC brushes made of thorns! I then decided to invest in a brush roll of expensive GENUINE MAC brushes and I fell in love with those! The only thing is, MAC brushes are very hard to get because I have to go into Central London to get them which isn’t a journey I do often. And I don’t like buying online after some bad purchases so I’ve learnt the hard way!

20120904-182527.jpg

I’ve looked in Superdrug and Boots the time and there’s some brands I’ve fallen in love with! Eco Tools and Models Own have some fantastic brushes and Cosmopolitan do fairly good ones too although they don’t last long!

Then Pixiwoo’s Samantha Chapman joined with Real Techniques to make brushes that have changed my life! IM IN LOVE!

They’re excellent value for money an she’s pretty much covered every brush type you’ll ever need!

The brushes I have:
20120904-180806.jpg

  • Blush brush– perfect for blusher, powder and bronzer
  • 20120904-181637.jpg

  • Stippling brush– this brush is perfect for foundation and blusher
  • 20120904-181620.jpg

  • Buffing brush– which is available in the core collection. This is perfect for mineral foundation, powder, foundation and blusher
  • 20120904-181607.jpg

  • Contour brush– perfect for contour, bronzer and blusher
  • 20120904-181630.jpg

  • Detailer brush– perfect for smudging eye shadow/ liner and is fairly good for lipstick/ glass application
  • 20120904-183900.jpg

  • Pointed foundation brush– perfect for…??? To be honey, this is the brush which I’ve NEVER found a use for! I might reshape it though by cutting it and use it as a concealer brush because the point is lethal!
  • The design of the brushes is fantastic and the price is also amazing! The core collection is £21.99 an the separate brushes start from £9.99! Boots often do deals where they do tools at 3 for 2 or buy one, get one half price so look out for them! They’re also available worldwide in most countries!

    20120904-182522.jpg

Want to know how to use the brushes, Sam has an AMAZING make up channel on
YouTube with her sister Nicola and they do fantastic make up tutorials where they use their brushes.
