Fe-Blog-Uary Day 3 – Products I’m Excited to Try

20140202-230235.jpg

When this year started, I knew that I’d want to try lots of new products and step out of my comfort zone a little with the make up I wear and cosmetics I use, so I decided to take advantage of the things I’d usually push aside and start incorporating the things I get in Glossy Boxes and free samples! I’m mega excited to try these products so stay tuned for a follow up post about my reviews on these!

Rapid Dry Quick Dry for Nails

20140202-231541.jpg
Starting off with this spray, I actually used this recently when I needed my nails dry in a hurry and I loved it so much, I included it in my January 2014 favourites linked here for you read a full review on.

Rimmel Stay Blushed in ‘001 Pop of Pink’

20140202-231757.jpg
This jumped out to me recently when I saw it at the Rimmel stand! I love cheek stains because they look so natural and after I swatched the tester, I knew I’d like it! It’s a gorgeous bubblegum pink shade and is a paste-like consistency! I’ll let you know what I think of it after I’ve rested it out fully!

Maybelline Colossal Volum Express

20140202-232012.jpg
I’ve actually used this once before when they released this mascara with a ‘Cat Eye’ campaign and I’m not sure of they still sell it! I loved it so much that when I saw it in my Glossy Box, I squealed! I really like the look of the brush and the product’s consistency seems just right for my eyelashes.. A factor that people usually forget to check! I can’t wait for my current mascara to finish so I can try this!

HD Brows Eye Brow Palette

20140202-232256.jpg
I’m not usually into brows and they’re definitely something that I tend to ignore when I’m doing my make up.. I tend to put on clear mascara and call it a day however, they do have sparse areas that need se love so I’m excited to dog I to this HEAVILY raved about quad! You can use these as eyeshadows too.. Woo!

Seche Nail Polish in ‘Smokey’

20140202-232442.jpg
I’ve not really used many colours from Seche because they’re so expensive however, after receiving this in a Glossy Box, I can’t wait to start using dark colours on my nails again! I own another pink colour by Seche and the formula was amazing (which you’d expect based on how much they cost). This is a gorgeous charcoal grey with a slight silver shimmer running through.. Perfect for evenings!

Urban Decay Primer Potions (Original, Sin, Eden, Anti-Ageing)

20140202-232723.jpg
When I got this with my Naked 3 palette, I was so excited to try them because I’ve only ever used the ‘Original Primer Potion’ and have always wanted to try sin! I can’t wait to dip my finger in this little pots and get cracking with some funky eye looks!

What are you excited to try this year? Have you made any resolutions?

Fe-Blog-Uary Day 1- January Favourites 2014

I thought there would be no better way to introduce this blogging month by saying good bye to last month! I’ll be blogging every single day during February so keep your eyes peeled for some exciting things!

20140131-225106.jpg

January was an adventurous month for me and I didn’t have a lot of time to try new products or even look on the market for new releases however, these items definitely stood out to me more than any others!

20140131-230746.jpg
Elegant Touch Rapid Dry For Nails
I received this in a Glossy Box last month and really wanted my nails dry before I set off for somewhere! I literally had 5 mins and wanted to try a new nail varnish colour SOOOOO bad that I was prepared to not touch anything whilst getting dressed and getting my hijab on.. Which we all know needs fingers and thumbs! I was so glad when I found this and had 60 seconds for this to dry and my oh my.. Does it set them rock solid! This stuff don’t the job so well! It was so easy to spray onto nails and then it set with a nice glossy finish.. In no time at all! I will say that on the nails where I applied a few thick coats, it did still smudge but overall, it’s amazeballs!

20140131-230808.jpg
Inglot 80HP Brush
Since I’ve been using so many eyeshadows lately, I found this brush to be the best for smudging under my eyes which was definitely a look that I was rocking last month! I really like the rocker look at the moment and this is a super soft and stiff brush which blends eyeshadows effortlessly in hard to reach areas! It washes really easily and is the perfect size for any eye looks that need that ‘smudging’ effect!

20140131-231947.jpg
MAC Opulash Mascara
I hauled this mascara when I went to the Cosmetics Company store in Bicester Village a few months ago! I had never tried a MAC mascara and I didn’t have high hopes for using this because of the GINORMOUS brush however, after using this a few times I have found the perfect way to use it! I opened it and let it dry slightly over a few months (which I often have to do with mascaras) and then I apply this about 4 times over, repeating every application when the mascara is about 70% dry! It’s a bit of a faff but, the results are really good! I get voluminous and longer looking lashes which are the main things I want from a mascara!

20140131-232337.jpg
Philip Kingsley One more Day
I received this in a Glamour Beauty Box that I ordered some time last year because I’ve been really into dry shampoos and thought this would be amazing.. I wasn’t wrong! It’s a gorgeous fine mist of dry shampoo which leaves your hair feeling fresh and invigorated! It feels really cold on the scalp and doesn’t feel sticky after a few hours, like most dry shampoos do! I throughly enjoyed using this! I would say it isn’t the best for dark hair because it leaves a grey powdery look but if you spray from afar and really rough up your hair, you can’t tell at all! Was definitely a sample size worth getting!

20140131-232705.jpg
MAC Face and Body Foundation
When I bought this foundation, I knew that I’d love it because I love the idea of a light coverage, dewy looking and fuss free foundation, if ever I wear it! I just never seemed to get into this thought until last month, when I finally found a way to wear it best (with a primer underneath and set with Studio Fix by MAC). I love the finish it gives and it makes your skin look so healthy! This colour is way too dark for me though however, I don’t really mind the shade when I go out with it on as it looks fine in the daylight! I love how natural it looks and feels and I love the little bottle too.. So cute!

20140131-234357.jpg

20140131-234411.jpg
Khroma/ Kardashian Beauty Complete Face Palette
This palette has changed my life! It’s a really good selection of eyeshadows and face products which have made my beauty regime so easy on those days where I just can’t choose! This is supposed to be an ‘all-in-one’ kind of kit and it is so handy’ there are 4 matte and 4 shimmery (metallic) eyeshadows, a blusher, highlighter and bronzer in this kit.. All encased in a small little box with a good sized mirror! I love the natural shades and I think the colour payoff of the eyeshadows are really good! The highlighter makes your skin look so healthy and the blush and bronzer are just perfect for my skin tone! This palette was on my face all month in January!

20140131-234900.jpg
Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder
I got this powder almost two years ago and despite using it so much, it’s doing really well! It’s a beautifully creamy powder which isn’t chalky rather, soft and almost like a powder foundation! I love this lighter shade under my eyes which I’ve needed, because last month was so busy! It set my concealer really well and helped brighten the eye area by heaps and bounds! What more could I ask for!?

What beauty products have you been enjoying? What were your favourites from last year?

Disappointing products of 2013

20140121-223327.jpg

Although 2013 was a good year for my beauty regime, there were a few beauty products which did let me down a bit! This isn’t to say that they wouldn’t work on other people, but I thought it would be good to show what products don’t suit me!

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Fresh & Flirty Blush – £4.99

20140121-224250.jpg
* When I got this dry shampoo, I was hoping that it would help with ‘hijab hair’ that us Hijabi’s get after wearing a scarf all day! It’s superb at adding a bit of volume and reviving limp hair but it left an AWFUL white cast on my hair! I looked like an old lady! I know they do a spray specifically for brunette’s, so I may just have to try that!

Topshop Cream Blush – Afternoon Tea – £6

20140121-224352.jpg
* With this product, I was so excited to try if after I had bought it because I loved the colour, however, I should have known better! Cream blushes and me have a notorious relationship because they don’t last on me unless I set them with a powder! This was the only cream blush I got this year but I feel as though although its cream-to-powder formulation, it does nothing and wears off momentarily! Was a waste of money to be honest!

Bobbi Brown Corrector – Bisque – £18.50

20140121-224422.jpg
* This was actually more of an impulse purchase which didn’t work out! I was with someone who said they swear by it and because I had heard so much about it, I was crazy to try it however, it took me ages to figure out what colour I was, how to apply it and now.. To finish it! It’s really cakey and thick and also I feel as though the shade is off! It creases really badly and when I try to set it, it makes my under eyes look dry.. Very strange product for me!

Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner – Black – £12

20140121-224507.jpg
* This was one of the first ever products I have tried from Eyeko! I was so excited to try it because I loved using my L’Oreal Perfect Slim eyeliner and really got into the felt tip eyeliner method! However, this was really dry the second time I used it even though I stored it nib face down! It’s really black and has a good applicator but the product was just dry and really hard to revive! It was so dry, it was tugging at my eyes! I’m don’t know if I got a bad one or whether they’re all bad however, I’m still open to trying Eyeko products.. No hard feelings!

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Extreme Plump Pucker – Pink Out Loud – £10

20140121-224526.jpg
* When it comes to lipgloss, last year was a big shiny mess for me! I tried so many glosses ranging from £1 to £20 and by far and beyond, I was disappointed the most by this one! It is Soooooooo strong, it made my lips feel like I had had anaesthetic injections in them! It was really painful and I didn’t feel as though my lips had changed in the slightest in size! When I apply it on top of lipstick, I can’t tell I even have gloss on! It’s a nice colour and has a good finish and pigment, but it’s hard to wear!

Essie Nail Varnish – Russian Roulette – £7.99

20140121-224550.jpg
* This nail varnish colour is AMAZING! I love this red because it’s a true red and not orange nor blue toned! It looks good on any skin tone and is so beautiful to apply! It has a big brush and the colour is super pigmented BUT it stains my nails SOOOOO bad! It took me months to grow out the colour because it just wouldn’t fade off! I never applied a base coat but the staining was so bad, I’m not sure if an average base coat would protect my nails! It’s like war paint!

Red Roulette

20140113-001411.jpg

For those of you who don’t know, red is my favourite colour and I LOVE red makeup on my skin tone! I don’t often wear red clothes but I always manage find a way to wear red somewhere on me! Take a look at my favourite red makeup products!

Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Cherry Tart’ – £5 (On offer at Superdrug right now with 3 for 2)

20140113-002149.jpg

20140113-002209.jpg

20140113-002228.jpg

When it comes to red lips, it’s a stark and sometimes outlandish thing to wear with a hijab so I find wearing a sheer wash of it on the lips is a nice way to pull it off. Lip butters have superb colour pay off and are super moisturising too! They don’t hurt the bank balance too much either!

Elizabeth Arden High Shine Lip Gloss in ‘Golden Red’ – £15

20140113-003308.jpg

20140113-003324.jpg

20140113-003342.jpg

As well as sheer lipsticks, lip glosses are a nice way to wear red. This Elizabeth Arden red is a vibrant red with amazing gold glitter in it! It makes the red a little more subtle somehow and it makes your lips look incredible! This colour would suit most skin tones!

MAC blusher in ‘Frankly Scarlet’ – £18

20140113-004022.jpg

20140113-004051.jpg

The scariest blush you’ve ever seen? I thought so too, until I tried it on and it blew me away! This was the second purchase I ever made from MAC and It’s one of my all time favourite MAC products! It creates an amazing flush to the cheeks but doesn’t look too much.. Just apply it with a light hand because it’s super pigmented! Darker skin..? This would look AMAZING on you!

MakeUp Geek Eyeshadow in ‘Razzleberry’ – £3.63

20140113-004555.jpg

20140113-004611.jpg

MakeUp Geek eyeshadows are one of my favourite brands of eyeshadow! MAC quality for a fraction of the price! They’re super pigmented and this colour is amazing! It’s a reddish/ pink with gold glitter running through it! Notorious for being hard to wear on eyes, red isn’t the easiest colour to wear but experiment with it to see how it best suits you.

Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Sunset’ – £7.99

20140113-005825.jpg

20140113-005846.jpg

I love Sleek palettes and this red-based palette makes wearing red eyeshadow so easy! The colours are mostly shimmery but there is a matte black. I love how the colour mix together to form new shades and how they look on their lonesome! I don’t use it a tonne during the summer but for some reason I love the way the colours look on pale winter skin!

Nails Inc. ‘Big Red Apple’ – £11.99
Rimmel 60 seconds ‘Double Decker Red’ – £3.69
Essie ‘Russian Roulette’ – £7.99

Festive Glitter

When Christmas time comes around, everyone starts feeling festive! It’s time to break out the glitter and even though I don’t celebrate Christmas, I enjoy glitter! The easiest way to incorporate it into your makeup, is by using eye liner! Take a look at some of my favourite picks:

20131217-154054.jpg

I’ve tried to include as many different colours as I can! These shades are definitely my favourite and ones that I use all of the time!

20131217-154241.jpg
* Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in ‘Denim Diva’
This isn’t even meant to be an eyeliner but I love drawing a line on my lash line and blending it out! It’s a beautiful cold blue colour with a lighter blue glitter running through it. It has amazing longevity and looks amazing with any eye colour.. It’s a super festive colour, too!

20131217-154248.jpg
* KIKO Super Colour Eyeliner in ‘110’
I go on about these eyeliners a lot but I truly love them! This shade is a beautiful purple colour with glitter running through it! I love using these on my too lash line and also smudging them under my eye too! It’s a gorgeous deep purple and is really long lasting.. As the name suggests!

20131217-154255.jpg
* KIKO Super Colour Eyeliner in ‘102’
For the same reasons above, I love this eyeliner too! Because it’s a liquid, you can get real precision and the brush is immaculate for drawing on the eyes! This brown is a gorgeous rich brown and perfect for those people who want to try something other than black! It has a gold glitter running through it and often looks like a copper colour in some lights.

20131217-154302.jpg
*AVON Supershock Gel Eyeliner in ‘Blackberry’
I’ve loved this colour for years and I can never get ahold of another pencil in this shade so sparingly use this one! This is a fantastic deep burgundy with a red glitter running through it and although the colour initially sounds scary, it looks amazing! This is another one for those of us who are used to black eyeliner.. It makes a gorgeous change to wearing black because of its subtlety! It’s really long lasting and creamy, too!

20131217-154309.jpg
* Barry M Kohl Pencil in ’10’
I bought these recently and have already got so much use of them! This gold colour is definitely one of my favourite! One that would look great on darker skin tones but suits anyone! These are creamy and long lasting and add a gorgeous pop of colour without looking too OTT! I love applying a black eyeliner and then this on top, on my waterline which gives me eyes definition and a pop of colour at the same time!

20131217-154317.jpg
* KIKO Perfect Eyes Duo Highlighter Pencil
This pencil is actually meant to be used on the brow bone one as a highlighter pencil but I love using this on my inner corner, cheekbones and even on my eyelid as an all over colour! This trick is great for those people who don’t wear eyeliner but still want a subtle shimmer! Just dab this on the areas of your eyes where you want some brightness and rock!

20131217-154323.jpg
* INIKA Certified Organic Eyeliner in Green Lagoon
It’s not often I whip out this colour because I’m not usually a fan of frosty colour but this green definitely gets my blood pumping in Winter! It’s a beautiful aqua shade which has a mega frosty finish! It’s not the smoothest pencil but after warming it up with a hair dryer or in my hands, it’s fairly easy to use and I love applying this with a black on my waterline or just above my black winged eyeliner for a pop of colour on my eyelid!

Ted Baker Make Up

20131111-203925.jpg

In the UK, Boots are really well known for their Christmas sales and the products they release from tonnes of brands for the festive season! I recently popped in there and saw Ted Baker make up kits, which is completely new for me to use! I wanted to try it because Ted Baker is a high end brand, so I grabbed this kit.. Have a look..

The Great and the Gorgeous Cosmetic Gift Set – £40 (they have now put up the price)
The kit came in at £19 (I was so chuffed at the affordable price but they still have it in their ‘3 for 2’ sale). As always with Ted Baker, the packaging is incredible and the products inside are made of good quality!

The kit comes with: a bronzing compact, lipstick crayons, eye liner, shimmer eye creams, eye glitter, false eyelashes and glue, nail polishes, illuminating liquids and cosmetic brushes! Tonnes of products!

20131111-204036.jpg20131111-204043.jpg20131111-204048.jpg20131111-204055.jpg20131111-204103.jpg

20131111-204139.jpg

20131111-204150.jpg

The swatches of the products show the quality of the makeup! It really is worth it!
The colours are autumn happy and I just love the idea of carrying around that rose gold compact!

The brushes are MAC quality.. Seriously! I love the lip crayon shades which are super moisturising and pigmented AND.. All the nail varnishes and highlighting (illuminating) pots, are crazy beautiful! The eyeliner is pigmented and long lasting and the other eye make up (lashes, glitter and cream shadow), are so natural and easy to wear!

L’oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Skin Micellar Solution

L’oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing Solution

20131027-165026.jpg
When my BioDerma recently finished (I went through 2 500ml bottles in less than a year), I was so sad! I had never used a cleansing water before and had so badly fallen in love with it! It effortlessly took makeup off and I didn’t think I’d be able to find anything like it!

When the last drop touched my face, I decided to man up and go to boots to have a snoop around all the different cleansers the drugstore had to offer! I knew that some big brands have amazing ones too but I didn’t want to have to pay tonnes of money for something I use everyday! I had a look at No7, Soap & Glory and then finally L’oreal!

When I took my makeup off the first night, I was AMAZED! I had put on a full face of makeup including waterproof eyeliner and this just wiped it off! I was surprised at L’oreal to make such a big brand dupe! I’m not too keen on the packaging because of the way the liquid comes out.. It spews out and often spills. But I love how slimline it is, making it perfect for travel.

20131027-165041.jpg

You can see how it removes makeup. In the swatch shows a cheek stain and waterproof eyeliner and it came off with little or no effort at all. I always use the solution on a baby wipe (Huggies Value Pack- £0.97p) and I wipe my makeup off.

20131029-214422.jpg

It’s fantastic value for money too coming in at a whopping £4.99 for 200ml! And it’s equivalent to Bioderma which costs £9.99 for 250ml! You an get this from any drugstore! Super handy and lovely!
