How to love your body

When it comes to food and my skin and general health, I’ve spent a little bit of time trying to master what my body likes and dislikes! There’s a lot of things I’ve noticed over time which my body reacts to positively and here they are:

When it comes to my skin. A few years ago, I would get painful and mountainous spots on my face for no apparent reason that I would blame to my teenage years! BUT NO.. The reason was milk which, I would drink like water! After not drinking it for a while because I was on holiday, my skin looked like it was brand new! The lack of this then led me to my doctor who confirmed that I had a slight lactose intolerance to dairy so that meant cheese, cream, yoghurt etc. would break my skin out. So I have swapped my cows milk for soya milk and rice milk which isn’t great and to be honest I miss my old milk but I’m happy my skin is cleaner than ever now!

20130417-115305.jpg

In keeping with what I noticed from my holiday, I also noticed how well the sun affected my skin! I noticed how beautiful and glowing I would notice my skin after sitting in the sun for a while. We don’t get a tonne of sun in the UK but, when we do I slap on my sunscreen and sunbathe like a dog out of a window!

20130417-115719.jpg

The way I eat is another big factor! I have always loved eating salad and fruit and for me the best lunch was a big bowl of hearty salad! I noticed that whenever I eat it regularly, my skin becomes so smooth, my scars vanish quicker and I don’t break out at all.

20130417-115349.jpg

Drinking water which is the age old tale! I notice when I drink water in the morning and before I go to bed, I feel refreshed and calm down quicker! My skin feels and looks amazing! And also, my body feels so good! I lose weight quicker too!

20130417-115716.jpg

The main thing I think is that I have trained my body to react or not react to certain foods! There’s a lot of folk tales about what happens when you eat certain food but eating a little of everything and changing your meals on a daily basis is a big deal! You should let your body know that if it doesn’t like milk, you’re still going to drink it every now and again (just like I do and now my body has adjusted to it better).

October Glossy Box

20121019-171335.jpg

This months GlossyBox was not as good as I hoped it would be! However, a few key pieces made it worth my while :)

20121019-171717.jpg

I already received a Dermologica Fresh Start Kit in a previous GlossyBox and never used it because I didn’t really need such an abrasive treatment for my skin. However, in the past Dermalogica products have improved my skin so I won’t mind trying it in the future. A bit disappointed that this is the second time I’ve received this in a GlossyBox.. Perhaps they were trying to recycle some old products?? Would like to try a NEW product every month though as I thought that was their mission statement.

20121019-171349.jpg

The next product I received was Anti Blemish Skinetica which is a company I have never heard of! It’s a very watery liquid that’s suppose clear and reduce spots! I’m excited to try this and have a lot of people to recommend this to, should it work!

20121019-171746.jpg

The next item is a body scrub by a company I’ve heard so much about called THIS WORKS! Everybody has been going crazy about their skin are products! This is a very grainy and citrus smelling shower scrub which I think would be perfect for scrubbing the area with a lot of dead skin such as heels, elbows and knees!

20121019-172903.jpg

The very last item is probably the best! It’s a lipstick by Yves Rocher is this gorgeous creamy pink odour! It’s quite reminiscent of MAC impassioned but has a slightly darker tone! I think it looks great on the lips, is a great formula and is the perfect colour for a pop of colour in Autumn! This colour is the shade 101 Framboise

20121019-172909.jpg

All in all a fairly average GlossyBox this month! I love the fact they’re supporting Breast Cancer month as well! It’s a cause very close to me and its nice to know some of the money you’re spending, is going to a good charity!

Nivea Creme!

20121011-173632.jpg

My new infatuation is with this beautiful cream!! I’ve always had Nivea Creme lying around at home and only really used it on very dry spots on my skin!

Then recently, I noticed how creamy it actually was! I decided to try this on my lips because it looked so nourishing and only ever done good on the skin on my body!

I apply this whenever I see it on my lips! Not just on my lips but around them too and I noticed over a few days how juicy my lips looked!

One day, after applying too much lipstick, I put the cream on, thinking because it would matte down the bold colour and it made my lipstick look AMAZING! The colour was muted a little (which I love!) and the look was a soft matte cream! Just like my NYX soft matte lip creams!

20121011-172953.jpg20121011-172935.jpg20121011-172949.jpg20121011-173049.jpg

I was ASTONISHED! It’s not only become my new beauty love but its a staple in my routine now! I love this small packaging because its so handy and its available worldwide! It’s so cheap and affordable, you can’t go wrong! If I was ever to recommend a lip balm, salve, cream, I would recommend this baby!

Most worn make up products!

20120811-011250.jpg
I thought I’d do a tag which I’ve seen around quite a lot lately ‘Most worn beauty products’! Something which was was originally ‘most worn items’ but I adapted! PersianBabe was the first person I saw do the tag on her YouTube channel: http://m.youtube.com/user/thepersianbabe

I love her! She’s such a nice person and I like the fact she talks about real things and how she genuinely feels about them. It’s like she doesn’t have thousands of subscribers, but just likes chatting away to herself to a camera! Her innocence is so admiring!

Ive divided my tag with two products with one high end and the other low end! So you get a feel for both ends of the spectrum!

Let’s begin the tag!
Favourite eye shadow:

20120811-002848.jpg
Low end is Sleek Au Naturel palette and I’ve swatched my favourite colours! Most of these colours are matte however, there are some gorgeous shimmery colours! As usual.. Sleek has managed to make some colours a bit too chalky such as the buttery yellow at the top and this means it has excessive fallout but generally the colours are gorgeous and you can use this palette day and night!
Too tip* to check the quality of a product, swatch the darkest colour in the palate to check its pigmentation! This gives you some knowledge about how vibrant the colours are and whether they apply the same colour as they appear in the packaging! Just look at that black in the Sleek palette! IT’S ASTONISHING!

The Elizabeth Arden palette is one I got in a gift set but I can’t rave about this product enough! I love the colours! I love the finish! I love the texture! I would never buy eye any shadows that cost more than £6 for 1 shade because of what sleek has done for me (you get 12 colours for £6.49), but this was in a set with loads of other products!

Most worn blusher:

20120811-003353.jpg
The first is actually an eye shadow colour by collection 2000 (now just Collection)! It’s in the colour Viva Vegas 06 and I LOVE IT! It’s a bright vibrant hot pink with purple and blue undertones! This is what got me into purple! It looks fantastic on the cheeks and yes it’s safe to use on cheeks! (Anything you can use on your eyes can be used on cheeks too). It looks great for a pop of colour if used with a heavy hand and gives a gentle flush with a light hand! I think it’s versatile! No matter what colour your skin is, this blush will look amazing on your beautiful face!

Daniel Sandler watercolour blush! This stuff is the weirdest most brilliant thing in the world! Literally the blush is a water.. The blend ability of this blush.. AMAZING! I’ve got some other Daniel Sandler products too but this blows all other blush textures out the water ;) (no pun intended)! It looks amazing! It has a slight sheen to it but nothing major and looks great because it’s a water and so soft! It’s like putting LOVE on your face! I like the sound it makes when applying on your skin.. Is that weird?? I can’t help it! Only downside is.. longevity is RUBBISH! Liquids don’t do well on my skin but it’s quite small so I don’t mind carrying it round for top ups :)

Most worn lip products:

20120811-004256.jpg
The Body Shop lip smackers are amazing! I have always loved Body Shop lip products like the tubs of lip balm (especially strawberry) but I like this more because it’s a tube! The flavour is incredible! My favourite is Pomegranate and especially because it leaves the most amazing red tint to your lips! It’s moisturising and lasts on your lips along time! I get so many compliments when I wear this because it looks good and smells good.. Sorted!

MAC lipsticks.. Need I say more! The shade Angel is no given and is probably one of MAC’s most popular lipsticks! Not least because Kim Kardashian wears it too and naturally, I love anything she wears! This has a lovely creamy formula and I LOVE THE SMELL! It drives me insane because it reminds me of something I used to love as a kid but can’t put my finger on the smell.. Hmmmmm! Anyway.. This shade.. I love it! It’s a rosy pink but not too bright so is very wearable.. Lasts all day.. Looks great!

Most worn bronzer:

20120811-004800.jpg
You cant get more value for money than the Sleek Contour kit and especially because you get two products in one! The contour colour is excellent because it’s not too muddy so for all the pale people out there who don’t want to look orange, it’s definitely the one for you! As well as that.. They have it in three shades.. Light, medium (which I use to darken up a bit) and dark (which could probably could be darker to be honest)! It’s got a fantastic highlighter in it too and I love the shimmer.. Even though I’m not usually keen on shimmery bronzers!

Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel! You knew it was coming! I love using this bronzer with my Real Techniques Contour Brush in the hollows of my cheeks.. BEFORE applying my foundation! Sometimes this can look orange and I don’t want to look Tango’d so this is a method that works for me but this is definitely a must try product! Get a sample if you can because it lasts ages an you can then find an application method which suits you.. And it’s universal for any skin tone.. BONUS!

Most worn nail varnish:

20120811-010248.jpg
I don’t really own high end nail varnishes so I just chose two of my favourites! I love the Maybelline one because it’s such a beautiful colour and lasts for AGES on my nails! I’m quite a hands on person (leave out the dirty jokes ;)), so I like my nail varnishes to last long! This is the perfect pastel link that can be worn in Spring, Summer and even for a light flush of colour in Winter!

The Rimmel colour is one of my favourite reds! It lasts ages on my nails, dries in less than 60 seconds, I find and I think it’s perfect for Autumn, Winter and with a bit of nail art, Summer too!

Most worn foundation:

20120811-010606.jpg
This has to be the best find of the century for me.. BARBARA DALY! You’ve made my life beautiful! This foundation is a moisture foundation and I’m in the shade Almond! I don’t think it has excellent coverage and nor do I think it helps my skin.. But it’s the perfect amount of daily coverage and it’s glides on your skin! It dries on your skin instantly and costs £6! You can’t go wrong with it! She does a few different types but I like the moisture one cause it gives an extra sheen although it dries fairly matte (second picture above shows how semi- matte it is)

Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua is one of my all time favourite foundations! Although I’ve been matched up to shade 40 (WAY too dark), it’s perfect for when I bronze up a but with some fake tan! I love this foundation because it makes your skin look healthy, feels amazing on the skin, smells good and glides on beautifully! I think the best thing in foundations is when they blend like a dream because it’s used all over your face, so if it doesn’t blend, it’ll look awful!

Always look for samples for sample for high end products! Don’t be afraid to ask! If you’re about to pay £30 for a foundation, you want to make sure it’s worth it! If you’re at a drugstore, test the product! In the UK this is easier as we get testers but in the US, look for reviews on the Internet!

Happy
Make-
Upping
:)
