Autumn is all about dark and deep shades and there’s no better statement than to add that dark look on your lips! I love dark lips but am not always brave enough to rock them.. My mum however LOVES them on me! So don’t be afraid to ask other people’s opinions on how it looks on you, you might be surprised what they think!
These are the products which have disappointed me after I’ve tried them! I’ve tried them for quite a while and in as many ways as I can and it just ain’t happening!
Benefit They’re Real!
Everyone says such good things about this mascara but I don’t understand why! It works really well at lengthening but it does nothing for volume at all for me! I always have to use a volumising mascara! I thing the formula of the mascara would work better with a bristle brush rattan than a plastic one! I love the spikes on the end to get the inner corners of the lashes though.. When this tube finishes I’m going to use the brush for other mascaras!
Sleek Blush by 3- Pink Spirit
I’ve used this for as long as the product has been out and it’s not all of the shades I dislike! Just this one and the only reason is because the two colours (??) are completely identical.. Almost! The payoff and colours are lovely though! It would just be nice for the colours to be a little different to each other!
Body Shop- Ginger Shampoo
This is supposed to an anti- dandruff shampoo because ginger has those qualities. I found it mega drying on my hair though! It just seemed to itch my hair and caused me to flake (even when I wasn’t before- I was trying to use it as a defence before I got dandruff in winter)! I like the smell though and I suppose if you have MEGA oily hair, it will help sort out the mane!
L’oreal Caresse Shine Stains- Romy 102
Again.. It’s the colour! It’s a lovely pink colour but I just found the actual shade to be different than the packaging shows! I like the formula (although it doesn’t last all day) but I’m sure the other colours are good as everyone raves about these! I’ll be sure to get another shade and tell you what I think!
GOSH BB Corrector kit- Light
This has to be the most disappointing product of all of my collection! This concealer kit is supposed to have BB qualities and comes with 3 products, an underage & blemish concealer as well as a highlighter. I found the products to be too watery and they did nothing! The highlighter was the worse! I think I’ll just scoop some of this into my moisturiser for a tint on the ‘natural make up’ days!
Benefit Cha Cha Tint
This tint is more of a gel consistency rather than a liquid and I love the texture. I’m not too sure of the product though! I found that it stuck to my face wherever I first placed it and it dried as soon as it touches skin so I couldn’t blend it! For the price.. A NO NO!
This cream.. CRAP
THIS MONTH! I’ve been loving quite a lot of different things! I’ll show you the range.. From make up to jewellery to food to clothes! LET’S BEGIN!
So this bracelet we bought from Primark (me and mum) I think it looks great on! I even wore it kind of layered up with my jumper and thought it looked FAB!
These shoes are from River Island! They have a medium platform and a lovely quilted pattern! Not the easiest to walk in though because they’re straight and won’t allow your foot to bend! I love the gold detailing and the front of the shoe is a very flattering shape and they look a bit different to your usual ballet flats.
This perfume was from the Body Shop! It’s in the scent Moroccan Rose and I think it smells divine! Definitely a rosy musk Though so avoid if that not your thing! It’s perfect for the transition from Summer to Autumn/fall. Unfortunately it was limited edition but they still sell the body butter! YUM!
This t shirt from Dorothy Perkins is what I’ve lived in! As soon as it been washed.. I’ve worn it again! It’s so comfortable, has a brilliant Aztec pattern and I got it from the sale section of Dorothy Perkins for £9 from £18! Whenever you go to Dorothy Perkins or when shopping online, their online section is amazing! So don’t miss it!
The Urban Decay Naked 2 palette was a new purchase for me! YES! I’m a late bloomer but I’ve just discovered it and I’m in love! The colours are perfect for day and night! I actually got mine on eBay for £20 as a seller had them on quite cheap however it’s usually £32 so quite pricey! It’s so amazing I’ve got the Naked palette from eBay as well for the same price! The colours in the Naked palette are slightly more neutral and brown compared to the second so definitely up my street!
The stay matte powder from Rimmel London is fantastic! I’ve been getting quite oily skin recently so though I’d keep it in my bag and since doing so, can’t live without it! I recently bought the Dior powder too but am waiting until the Rimmel one finishes until I use the Dior! It’s lightweight, easy to use and comes in translucent! Woo!
Some people are frightened to death of it but curling your eye lashe is one of the most fundamental parts of doing your make up! It opens the eyes, makes them look more feminine and is a great step before applying mascara to get maximum results! I’ve got quite Kim lashes but their limo and need curl so I curl my lashes effort and after applying mascara (once its dry) and this helps to ensure my lashes are ready for the beautiful day ahead! I’ve had my Tweezerman ones since I was 11 (which is 9 years) and they’ve never caused me any problems! I’ve not had to change the rubber once in that whole time!
I’ve been loving Tea recently! I’ve needed to relax and there’s nothing better than a cup of tea to relax! Proper British style! However, to give it a bit of twist, try adding 5/6 cardamom seeds in your tea for a different flavour! Like my mug?
I LOVE CHOCOLATE! Enough said!
So we all love a gifting!
On Eid, we all give and receive gifts!! So I got quite a few gifts this Eid and thought I’d show you a few!
The end is nigh!! The last fast in Ramadhan for the whole year!! It’s really sad!
The last few moments I have will be for reflection! You never know that this might be the last fast you ever keep! However, although it may be the last.. I will make sure I fast throughout the whole year!
BRING ON EID!!!!
And hmmmm.. Lunch!!! Oh how I missed my take out food!!
So this is what I’m wearing on my FACE!
It’s 31 degrees Celsius today so I wore stuff that is lightweight but will last!
Collection 2000 lasting perfection
Body shop virgin minerals foundation
Body shop lip and cheek tint
Sleek au Naturel palette
Nars Laguna bronzer
Avon super shock gel pencil
Maybelline eye studio gel eyeliner
Clinique high definition mascara
Carmex lip balm
I don’t always wear foundation because my skin has cleared up a lot during recent months! However, I do wear foundation when I feel my skin is looking dull! Which is usually when good old Mr. P comes every month! Yes ladies.. That P!
I use liquid foundation because it is so flawless! When your skin is dull, lacking texture or you need coverage, liquid foundations can really pick your skin up! It’s like a blank canvas to even out your skin!
Mineral or powder foundation is good for when you don’t want as much coverage! If you have oily skin or skin that breaks out, use this because it covers your skin, but doesn’t cake with a heavy layer that stops your face breathing! They don’t give as much coverage but they look really nice and looks like your skin which is perfect for any beautiful lady!
You don’t need to spend tonnes on your foundation and I’m about to show you! I’ll do this in order of highest price to lowest!
Chanel Vita Lumiere aqua:
This foundation!!! O M G! God was happy when this was made! It’s a medium coverage but quite buildable. Has a dewy finish. Goes on easily. Has SPF. Lasts all day. Smells good.. Bad side.. It’s £31! If you want to splurge though, it’s amazing! I really like it! I would say it’s my absolutely favourite foundation ever just because the price makes it feel luxurious.. It’s Chanel!!! If you can, definitely do pick this up! The only downside I can genuinely think of is it’s high price! It also has quite a good colour selection!
Nars sheer glow foundation:
THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! It gives your skin the most wonderful glow! Looks truly amazing! I would recommend for normal to dry skin! If you’re oily, avoid at all costs because this will over shine you! I love the way the moisture lasts all day! It doesn’t wear it out! Again a pricey one.. But then Nars is luxury! They have a decent colour range ad it’s definitely one I reach for!
MAC MatchMaster foundation:
I like this foundation a lot! It’s very different to the Chanel because the consistency, coverage and application all varies! MatchMaster is excellent for people looking for a heavy coverage! I would actually say this is a foundation for people wearing their make up the whole day for a special event! Weddings and parties will now have a flawless queen in them! The foundation glides on but requires quite a bit of blending! The colour range is quite good and as the colour suggests, it does blend in with your natural skin colour! It’s £25 so not as heavy a blow a the Chanel! I would say though, aim to go to a MAC counter or store to get matched up with MAC foundations because you’re never a colour you think you are!
Bourjois healthy mix/ Bio Detox:
Ok I know I’m cheating but technically not! I always use these two together! The healthy mix is great because it has a really dewy finish.. Only thing is.. It has little coverage in my opinion (almost like a tinted moisturiser) and can sometimes makes my skin look dull.. Even though it gives a glow! Hence why, I use Bio Detox! This has quite a brightening effect in my opinion! Where the healthy mix is easily bendable and glides on, the bio detox you have to blend in, but they both work well together to make a satin-like finish that makes your skin look really bright!
Rimmel wake me up foundation:
For the price and the brand.. This is the one I reach for on a day to day basis! As well it being Pixi2woo, Tanya Burr’s, favourite too, it’s amazing! It actually lifts your skin up and really brightens it up! It’s £8.99 and I like the packaging too! This contains a little bit of shimmer which doesn’t actually do anything but I think they would sell better without the shimmer cause 80% of people avoid the glitter!
Barbara Daly moisture foundation:
£7.. £7.. £7! This stuff.. Should be a world record holder! For the value, it’s astonishing! Pick this up from Tesco when you next go and I can guarantee you’ll reach for this every morning! She has lots of other foundations for different skin types! Her colour range is fairly good and I love the spatula applicator cause I’m not shaking the bottle trying to get something out every morning (extra movement in the a.m. Is not appreciated!). The coverage is quite light but you can build it up! It’s so versatile! It doesn’t give a dewy glow at all, and looks like your skin, but better!
Body Shop Virgin Minerals Foundation:
This is the first ever mineral foundation I got! I have the Laura Mercier mineral powder but Mr. A got it in a compact form which although good, is harder to work with (TBH, he has no clue with make up and I gave him a list where I didn’t specify if I wanted loose or pressed). The body shop foundation is lovely! It’s very fine and looks really nice on the skin. It makes your skin look flawless and gives a brightening and matte finish. It’s quite build able too which I learnt recently.. So rather versatile! Use a real techniques buffing brush with this baby and you’re done!! Must say though, it doesn’t last very long on my skin! Which I think is the same with most mineral foundations! I find it wears off after 5/6 hours so perhaps keeping it in your handbag, would help when you need a cheeky too up!
L’oreal Lumi Magique primer:
This stuff has changed my foundation routine! Whenever I wear a light coverage foundation or mineral/ powder foundation, I run towards this for an extra glow! It doesn’t appear over-bearing and I always apply under my foundation because I’m not a fan of in-your-face highlight! I love this primer because it works all through the day. I actually feel like it has a 12 hour staying power because on my skin, it never wears off! (rose gold packaging too! Bonus points!)
Revlon bare it all highlight:
This is my more pinky highlight colour! When I’m feeling like the MAC lustre drops are overpowering, or the Lumi Magique is too cold, I run for this! My mum got this for me quite a while back and I use such a tiny amount, I’ve barely made a dent in it! It’s fantastic as a cheek highlight and for an all over glow under foundation! It’s quite hard to find though, although eBay has a lot of sellers!
So there you go guys! Be sure to check out Tanya Burr on Pixi2woo. She does amazing make up tutorials too! Woo Tanya!
Remember, I’m all into social networking at the moment!
Now that it’s getting hotter and the summer days, although almost finished, are as heated as ever, the last thing you want is your gorgeous red lipstick to bleed everywhere! The solution.. STAINS!
Ok so I have a love/ hate relationship with them because they’re often too drying! But ever since I started carrying a make up bag, I pop my lip balm in my bag and top up whenever I need to! This ensures my lips don’t get dry! Also, during winter, your lips are more likely to be dryer and stains darken up in the chaps of your lips and I’m a fan of flawlessness! So no thanks to that! But in summer when you’re hydrated from swearing and your lips don’t dry as much, stains are your best friend! Here’s all the stains I have and my verdict!
Maybelline 18 hour colour stay:
This is one of those stains that come with a lip balm on the other end! I love the colour of this stain! The staying power is AMAZING! It doesn’t last 18 hours but will last you a whole school day/ work day! The only problem is that its SO drying! It feels like your have glue on your lips! It’s a nightmare to get off (cotton bud and baby oil usually does the trick)! But if you love something as strong as duct tape.. This is one is for you! P.S. the lip balm smells amazing! If they sold that alone, I’d get it in a flash!
Revlon just bitten kissable balm stains:
WHY DID THEY CALL IT SUCH A LOG NAME!!!??? I love Revlon’s lip products from their lipsticks (same quality as MAC), to their nail varnishes that miraculously never chip! When these stains came out I was so excited! I like stains but like I said, sometimes they’re too drying, so these seemed perfect! The balm wears off after a few hours but still last longer than most stains do! I love their existing colour range and it was hard to choose only a few colours but, I just wish they had more natural shades to choose from! Revlon.. Keep up the good work!
Maybelline colour sensational:
These smell absolutely divine! The colours are sheer but buildable! You can really layer them on to a create a desired effect! The colour range is pretty decent, although some natural colours would have been nice too! However.. That’s where the compliments end! The stains have a felt tip applicator! Now this is the best for stains, I find because it won’t clump up, it’s very precise and it’s not messy! But the nib wears out so quickly on this! Ive had my stains for a few months and you can see, it’s not doing well.. I don’t wear these everyday, so it should have lasted longer! The colour wears off after some time and I’m talking about.. Sip of water.. GONE! So has no staying power either! Really.. If you’re a model and only need this on for 1 shot.. Then this is for you! Otherwise uh uh!
Body shop lip and cheek stain:
I go on about this all the time! I love this on the cheeks because it lasts so long! Honestly, I haven’t tried it on my lips for long enough to tell you what I think of it! I think I’ll find it too sheer for me! The colour didn’t show up well when I tried it once before! If you have very pale lips and want a hint of colour, this is perfect for you!
Revlon just bitten lip stains:
WOWOWOWOWOW! The staying power of this stain is incredible! It will literally last you the whole day! I remember when I needed to go out once, I wore this all night whilst I slept and when I woke up, it was STILL THERE and I didn’t need to too up for the rest of the day! The color range again is limited.. Perhaps I’m being bias that I want more colours because I’m a fan of stains! Nevertheless, this has amazing staying power and again has a lip balm on the end which I have to say isn’t the best! Carry round a lip balm of your own with this for sure though, because it’s very drying!
No matter what kind of make up look you’re going for, the matte finish on a stain will compliment your whole look! This is my whole collection os stains because I feel like the ones I have, do the job for all the events I usually go to! I think MAC should try to bring out some soon because lip stains are getting bigger and bigger!
So I picked up 2 more perfumes today and thought I’d show you what i got! I’ve wanted these two for a long time and today finally gave in!
Bonus.. My brother bought me the Gucci one!! WOO! Aww :)
The Jimmy Choo one smells fresh and floral where the Gucci one smells really mature but kind of like bubblegum to me for some reason! Yummy!
I thought I’d do a tag which I’ve seen around quite a lot lately ‘Most worn beauty products’! Something which was was originally ‘most worn items’ but I adapted! PersianBabe was the first person I saw do the tag on her YouTube channel: http://m.youtube.com/user/thepersianbabe
I love her! She’s such a nice person and I like the fact she talks about real things and how she genuinely feels about them. It’s like she doesn’t have thousands of subscribers, but just likes chatting away to herself to a camera! Her innocence is so admiring!
Ive divided my tag with two products with one high end and the other low end! So you get a feel for both ends of the spectrum!
Let’s begin the tag!
Favourite eye shadow:
Low end is Sleek Au Naturel palette and I’ve swatched my favourite colours! Most of these colours are matte however, there are some gorgeous shimmery colours! As usual.. Sleek has managed to make some colours a bit too chalky such as the buttery yellow at the top and this means it has excessive fallout but generally the colours are gorgeous and you can use this palette day and night!
Too tip* to check the quality of a product, swatch the darkest colour in the palate to check its pigmentation! This gives you some knowledge about how vibrant the colours are and whether they apply the same colour as they appear in the packaging! Just look at that black in the Sleek palette! IT’S ASTONISHING!
The Elizabeth Arden palette is one I got in a gift set but I can’t rave about this product enough! I love the colours! I love the finish! I love the texture! I would never buy eye any shadows that cost more than £6 for 1 shade because of what sleek has done for me (you get 12 colours for £6.49), but this was in a set with loads of other products!
Most worn blusher:
The first is actually an eye shadow colour by collection 2000 (now just Collection)! It’s in the colour Viva Vegas 06 and I LOVE IT! It’s a bright vibrant hot pink with purple and blue undertones! This is what got me into purple! It looks fantastic on the cheeks and yes it’s safe to use on cheeks! (Anything you can use on your eyes can be used on cheeks too). It looks great for a pop of colour if used with a heavy hand and gives a gentle flush with a light hand! I think it’s versatile! No matter what colour your skin is, this blush will look amazing on your beautiful face!
Daniel Sandler watercolour blush! This stuff is the weirdest most brilliant thing in the world! Literally the blush is a water.. The blend ability of this blush.. AMAZING! I’ve got some other Daniel Sandler products too but this blows all other blush textures out the water ;) (no pun intended)! It looks amazing! It has a slight sheen to it but nothing major and looks great because it’s a water and so soft! It’s like putting LOVE on your face! I like the sound it makes when applying on your skin.. Is that weird?? I can’t help it! Only downside is.. longevity is RUBBISH! Liquids don’t do well on my skin but it’s quite small so I don’t mind carrying it round for top ups :)
Most worn lip products:
The Body Shop lip smackers are amazing! I have always loved Body Shop lip products like the tubs of lip balm (especially strawberry) but I like this more because it’s a tube! The flavour is incredible! My favourite is Pomegranate and especially because it leaves the most amazing red tint to your lips! It’s moisturising and lasts on your lips along time! I get so many compliments when I wear this because it looks good and smells good.. Sorted!
MAC lipsticks.. Need I say more! The shade Angel is no given and is probably one of MAC’s most popular lipsticks! Not least because Kim Kardashian wears it too and naturally, I love anything she wears! This has a lovely creamy formula and I LOVE THE SMELL! It drives me insane because it reminds me of something I used to love as a kid but can’t put my finger on the smell.. Hmmmmm! Anyway.. This shade.. I love it! It’s a rosy pink but not too bright so is very wearable.. Lasts all day.. Looks great!
Most worn bronzer:
You cant get more value for money than the Sleek Contour kit and especially because you get two products in one! The contour colour is excellent because it’s not too muddy so for all the pale people out there who don’t want to look orange, it’s definitely the one for you! As well as that.. They have it in three shades.. Light, medium (which I use to darken up a bit) and dark (which could probably could be darker to be honest)! It’s got a fantastic highlighter in it too and I love the shimmer.. Even though I’m not usually keen on shimmery bronzers!
Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel! You knew it was coming! I love using this bronzer with my Real Techniques Contour Brush in the hollows of my cheeks.. BEFORE applying my foundation! Sometimes this can look orange and I don’t want to look Tango’d so this is a method that works for me but this is definitely a must try product! Get a sample if you can because it lasts ages an you can then find an application method which suits you.. And it’s universal for any skin tone.. BONUS!
Most worn nail varnish:
I don’t really own high end nail varnishes so I just chose two of my favourites! I love the Maybelline one because it’s such a beautiful colour and lasts for AGES on my nails! I’m quite a hands on person (leave out the dirty jokes ;)), so I like my nail varnishes to last long! This is the perfect pastel link that can be worn in Spring, Summer and even for a light flush of colour in Winter!
The Rimmel colour is one of my favourite reds! It lasts ages on my nails, dries in less than 60 seconds, I find and I think it’s perfect for Autumn, Winter and with a bit of nail art, Summer too!
Most worn foundation:
This has to be the best find of the century for me.. BARBARA DALY! You’ve made my life beautiful! This foundation is a moisture foundation and I’m in the shade Almond! I don’t think it has excellent coverage and nor do I think it helps my skin.. But it’s the perfect amount of daily coverage and it’s glides on your skin! It dries on your skin instantly and costs £6! You can’t go wrong with it! She does a few different types but I like the moisture one cause it gives an extra sheen although it dries fairly matte (second picture above shows how semi- matte it is)
Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua is one of my all time favourite foundations! Although I’ve been matched up to shade 40 (WAY too dark), it’s perfect for when I bronze up a but with some fake tan! I love this foundation because it makes your skin look healthy, feels amazing on the skin, smells good and glides on beautifully! I think the best thing in foundations is when they blend like a dream because it’s used all over your face, so if it doesn’t blend, it’ll look awful!
Always look for samples for sample for high end products! Don’t be afraid to ask! If you’re about to pay £30 for a foundation, you want to make sure it’s worth it! If you’re at a drugstore, test the product! In the UK this is easier as we get testers but in the US, look for reviews on the Internet!
