Eyeshadow Sticks.. Worth the hype?

20140129-164807.jpg

When it comes to eyeshadow, I’m one of those people who has their fazes! I don’t wear eyeshadow every single day but since last year, I’ve been CRAZY about it! I’ve purchased tonnes of new palettes and gone WAY out of my comfort zone with colours! When I found an eyeshadow stick I had got in a Glossy Box a year or so ago, I fell in love with the ease of application and the colour range! So here are some of my FAVOURITE eyeshadow sticks of all time!

Eyeko FAT Eye Stick in ‘Satin Taupe’ – £5

20140129-165109.jpg
This eyeshadow pencil, much like the name suggests is just like the MAC eyeshadow Satin Taupe, which so many people LOVE! This is an excellent way to make your eyes look a little different from the average ‘matte nude’ colours which some of us rely on so much! It’s a gorgeous olive toned brown with quite a strong shimmer running through it! It blends effortlessly, applies like butter and looks like a gorgeous sheen on the eyelid! It’s so easy to wear this as a wash of colour! It also twists up so you don’t need to sharpen it.. BONUS!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eye Shadow Stick in ‘Paranoid Purple’ – £4.49

20140129-165119.jpg
There was a big rave on blogs and beauty YouTube channels last year about this product and I was so amazed at the reviews! Everyone seemed to love the earthy tones that comes in this line but I was so drawn to this purple shade for some reason! When you swatch it, it’s a beautifully vibrant purple but when you blend it, it darkens up a bit and looks like a gorgeous deep purple with violet shimmer! Again, it blends effortlessly and applies like angels! It doesn’t break the bank either and I’m pretty sure that Rimmel is available in most countries!

Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in ‘Denim Diva’ – £3.19

20140129-165132.jpg
This stick was an impulse purchase for sure! I just loved the blue shade and it was calling to me! Again.. It’s not a colour that I would usually go for but I just fell in love with it! I bought this in the summertime because I knew that it would look fantastic in the warm evenings and I wasn’t wrong! It’s a gorgeous deep blue with a light shimmer running through and it doesn’t fail to amaze me every time I wear it! I tend to steer clear of blues because they often contradict my skin tone however, this looks amazing with just a wash on the lid and then blended with a skin tone colour around the edges! I love the lasting power of this one too!

In conclusion, YES! I love eyeshadow sticks and they have definitely become a new favourite makeup item of mine! I like all these crayon type make up products because they’re amazing for travel! I’ll be going away for a few days soon and know that I’ll have at least 3 ‘stick forms’ of makeup somewhere in my makeup bag! I really like them for their buttery-ness and application because it’s superb! Even drug store alternatives like the ones I’ve shown, they’re great! Definitely a must- have!

Autumn Pop Of Blue

20131106-153735.jpg

With autumn well and truly here, there is one colour which just keeps popping up time and time again.. Blue! It’s always been a cold colour but I’ve loved incorporating it into my make up lately.. And the best way I know how is, EYELINER!

20131106-154327.jpg
MUA Royal Blue Waterproof Eyeliner – £1
Really smooth and creamy! Has great pigmentation and really nice staying power even on the waterline! Superb value for money!

20131106-154608.jpg
Barry M Kohl Pencil in 4 – £2.99
Not the best pigmentation, not particularly smooth but a really nice muddy blue colour! A really easy way to wear blue!

20131106-154919.jpg
Collection Eyeshadow Pencil in Denim Diva – £3.19
Perhaps the cheat ‘eyeliner’ but works well as an eyeshadow and eyeliner! A really nice glitter running through and really good longevity

20131106-154709.jpg
KIKO Super Colour Eyeliner in 107 – £3.90
Super pigmented and really creamy to apply! Best liquid eyeliner formula I’ve tried EVER! It’s quite bold so not for the faint hearted but easy to wear mixed with black eyeshadow for a subtle pop of blue!

20131106-154805.jpg
Bourjois Effet Metallise in 54 – £4.99
Super metallic but a nice way to incorporate blue! Looks amazing on any skin tone and if you’re tanned or dark, this is a must buy for you.. Seriously it looks amazing on!

20131106-155003.jpg
Illamasqua Medium Pencil in Debonair – £14
Expensive but a really unique colour to find! It’s quite creamy and has REALLY good staying power! Looks really nice lightly applied on the waterline

With the summertime approaching, I thought it would be perfect to pick a few new summer releases!

I decided to shop on Feel Unique because of their free delivery and because they had a discount code available (I got £9 off my shopping!)!

Dior Addict Lipstick in On The Beach
When I saw the new Dior collection, it looked AMAZING! I’m in love with Dior lipsticks and this one did not fail! It’s the perfect sheer coral (swinging more to the orange side) shade! It looks so good on my colouring at the moment and its one of those staple summer shades

Dior Birds of Paradise Nail Varnish Duo
These colours just screamed out at my and I had to get them! They have a light shimmer but are mostly just glossy and opaque with a solid first coat! I haven’t tested them for chipping but I have high hopes! The blue shade is so different for me.. I’m ready for the challenge!

Stila Custom Blush in Self Adjusting Pink
When I saw this on the website, it looked so unique! I mentioned in previous blog posts how the Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain used to adjust itself to your skins pH balance and when I saw this powder, I was so in awe! I’ve loved using it thus far! Only thing is.. I don’t think it adjusts itself at all.. It looks the same on the people I’ve tried it on! However, the colour is gorgeous for summer!

20130530-232317.jpg

Dainty Doll Eyeshadow in 001
When I first saw this eyeshadow, I thought it was a blush! I often use eyeshadows as blushes so its not news to me! When I tried it on my cheeks, I was AMAZED! Because it has a red undertone, it makes a good blush and I’ve also been using as a crease colour to my bare eyelid and it looks so beautiful! It blends effortlessly and is really well pigmented too!

20130530-232353.jpg

20130530-232359.jpg

Nubar Nail Varnish in Navy Blue
This nail varnish stuck out to me because my previous navy blue nail varnish ran out recently and it used to chip like CRAZY! I haven’t tried this shade just yet but I just know I’m going to love using this as an all over and nail art colour!
