Urban Decay and Gwen Stefani collaboration review – Blogging March Day 1

Hello and welcome back, guys! A little secret I was keeping from you.. I’ll be blogging EVERYDAY in March so make sure you keep your eyes peeled at 6pm (GMT) when I’ll be uploading special posts!
Let’s start this off on a high note with a beauty launch that kicked the beauty world into gear! A collaboration with one of the best pop stars and best makeup brands! Gwen Stefani and Urban Decay were made for each other! Urban Decay have always been quirky and vibrant with their goodies and Gwen Stefani is exactly the same with her image.. This was a match made in Heaven!

The collection comes with an eyeshadow palette that has 15 shades, a blush palette with 6 shades, lipliners, lipsticks and a brow kit. I was most interested in the eyeshadows, blush palette and lipliners however was also given a sample of the lipstick which was fun to try out!

Let’s start with the gorgeous eyeshadow palette which looks like something Gwen would definitely wear herself everyday and on stage! The colours vary from a matte to very glittery finish (5 matte and 10 shimmer and glitter). There’s a good mix of matte shades which are perfect for blending. The pigmentation of most of these are great and they’re lovely to blend into one another as well! The packaging is beautiful.. Housing the shadows in a magnetic closure box that has a solid plastic case with loads of attention to detail, including a message on the ginormous mirror (which I won’t spoil). This palette is my go to for travelling at the moment because the shade selection is perfect for my look. The brighter colours such as the gold, pink and blue are lovely to add a pop of colour to a bare eye on the lower lash line, which is how I’ve been using them! I am very satisfied that I purchased this!

The second thing I purchased from the collection because the eyeshadow palette was so good is the blush palette! I’m a blush girl and I’m not afraid to pack it on because I feel more fresh and awake when I use it liberally so I was drawn to this palette! There are 6 shades with a matte pink (very similar to MAC pink swoon which my ultimate favourite blush of all time.. Ever!). There’s also a matte contour shade which is sensational on almost all skin tones! The other colours all have a gold shimmer running through them which is only noticeable very close up, otherwise it looks very dewy on the skin and like you’re glowing. I think this palette is suitable for ANY skin tone and there are some AWSOME highlighting shades in this too! The packaging mimics the eyeshadow palette too which makes it perfect for travelling with!

The next product I purchased from the collection is this amazing lipliner in 714. I’m itching to know the reason for the name! It’s a gorgeous deep red which has a way of looking quite raspberry and very orange too! This would look fantastic on most skin tones and my cousin of a different conplexion of mine bought this too because she  looked gorgeous in this shade. The formula like most matte and waterproof liners is very drying though, and it does wear off reasonably easy after eating and drinking which is rather annoying but, it tops up really well and doesn’t clump up. By the end of the day, my lips are as dry as prunes however, I pop a little lip balm on before applying and it keeps my lips from peeling off like they would without lip balm under. There are some great shades in the collection and the lipsticks compliment in name and shade to the lipliners so they’re a perfect match!

Although I never purchased the lipsticks, there was a reasonably good sample in the blush palette packaging which I tested out. I swatched the lipsticks in store as well and although they were nice, they weren’t groundbreaking and I would rather spend the money on more lipliner colours than the lipsticks. The lipsticks were really glossy and comfortable to wear, the colour pay off is excellent however, not very long lasting and it wore off very much like the lipliner and much like the lipliner, was nice to reapply and didn’t become clumpy or blotchy with another coat.

All in all, I think this collection was brilliant and I loved the products. The collaboration was very exciting and the products lived up to their expectation for me. The price range is good too with the palettes around he £30 – £40 mark, which is pretty standard for Urban Decay and reasonable for the amount of product and shades in each. I’m a huge fan of these so a big thumbs up from me!

Disappointing products of 2013

20140121-223327.jpg

Although 2013 was a good year for my beauty regime, there were a few beauty products which did let me down a bit! This isn’t to say that they wouldn’t work on other people, but I thought it would be good to show what products don’t suit me!

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Fresh & Flirty Blush – £4.99

20140121-224250.jpg
* When I got this dry shampoo, I was hoping that it would help with ‘hijab hair’ that us Hijabi’s get after wearing a scarf all day! It’s superb at adding a bit of volume and reviving limp hair but it left an AWFUL white cast on my hair! I looked like an old lady! I know they do a spray specifically for brunette’s, so I may just have to try that!

Topshop Cream Blush – Afternoon Tea – £6

20140121-224352.jpg
* With this product, I was so excited to try if after I had bought it because I loved the colour, however, I should have known better! Cream blushes and me have a notorious relationship because they don’t last on me unless I set them with a powder! This was the only cream blush I got this year but I feel as though although its cream-to-powder formulation, it does nothing and wears off momentarily! Was a waste of money to be honest!

Bobbi Brown Corrector – Bisque – £18.50

20140121-224422.jpg
* This was actually more of an impulse purchase which didn’t work out! I was with someone who said they swear by it and because I had heard so much about it, I was crazy to try it however, it took me ages to figure out what colour I was, how to apply it and now.. To finish it! It’s really cakey and thick and also I feel as though the shade is off! It creases really badly and when I try to set it, it makes my under eyes look dry.. Very strange product for me!

Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner – Black – £12

20140121-224507.jpg
* This was one of the first ever products I have tried from Eyeko! I was so excited to try it because I loved using my L’Oreal Perfect Slim eyeliner and really got into the felt tip eyeliner method! However, this was really dry the second time I used it even though I stored it nib face down! It’s really black and has a good applicator but the product was just dry and really hard to revive! It was so dry, it was tugging at my eyes! I’m don’t know if I got a bad one or whether they’re all bad however, I’m still open to trying Eyeko products.. No hard feelings!

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Extreme Plump Pucker – Pink Out Loud – £10

20140121-224526.jpg
* When it comes to lipgloss, last year was a big shiny mess for me! I tried so many glosses ranging from £1 to £20 and by far and beyond, I was disappointed the most by this one! It is Soooooooo strong, it made my lips feel like I had had anaesthetic injections in them! It was really painful and I didn’t feel as though my lips had changed in the slightest in size! When I apply it on top of lipstick, I can’t tell I even have gloss on! It’s a nice colour and has a good finish and pigment, but it’s hard to wear!

Essie Nail Varnish – Russian Roulette – £7.99

20140121-224550.jpg
* This nail varnish colour is AMAZING! I love this red because it’s a true red and not orange nor blue toned! It looks good on any skin tone and is so beautiful to apply! It has a big brush and the colour is super pigmented BUT it stains my nails SOOOOO bad! It took me months to grow out the colour because it just wouldn’t fade off! I never applied a base coat but the staining was so bad, I’m not sure if an average base coat would protect my nails! It’s like war paint!

2014!

A big big big Happy New Year to everyone! If you’re Muslim, then our new year started a while back but I never got to say it!

I’ve been really excited to start this year with a BANG on my blog but have been incredibly busy since the start of the new year! With so many things planned for this year, let’s all pray that things pan out for everyone and that this year brings happiness and joy for all!

My blog being a big reason for my smile is why I’d like to propose a few things for this year! It’s only the first week in and I’ve taken a tonne of pictures and am in the process of writing up tonnes of blog posts!

I’ve decided to continue with my tradition of blogging everyday in certain months and below is a list of them all:
Feb-blog-ary (February)
Blogging April (April)
Ramadhan (July-ish / August-ish)
Septemblog (September)
Blogmas (December)

I hope that that you all keep up to date with me on a daily basis during these months where I’m hoping to blog every day!

However, during the other months, I’ll be sticking to a schedule of blogging 3/4 times a week and sometimes more! I don’t want to be specific as to what days I’ll be doing however, I’ll be Tweeting and FaceBooking when I post new things!

Once again, a big thank you to everyone who supports my blog because even if only one person reads InHerBubble, my blog will have fulfilled its purpose! I started this blog with a concept where I wanted to blog about everything I loved, and I’m so pleased to see so many people share those passions with me!

LOTS OF LOVE!

September Glossy Box

There’s nothing I love more than receiving my Glossy Box without even realising it’s been a month.. A blessing for the surprise and a curse because I’ve lost another month!

20130913-015300.jpg

First of all, the box is AMAZING! It’s a ginormous Union Jack flag and I can’t wait to display it proudly in my room! The theme for this month was inspired by London Fashion Week and all the products are from brands in the UK. This month came with a unique magazine which was a nice little bit of literature to read on a small journey!

** The products inside are listed in an informative little booklet

Let’s take a look at what was in the box..

The first eye-tem (pardon the pun) that jumped out at me were these self-adhesive eyelashes! I’m a bit sceptical of these but I’m saving to try them on a special occasion because they look beautiful and natural! I don’t know how well they’ll stick, but I’m ready for the challenge!

**Eyelure Pre-Glued lashes in 109

The next thing I awed over was this Onyx eyeliner by BeABombShell! It’s a jumbo eyeliner felt tip that makes a super neat line! After I stopped buying L’oreal Carbon Gloss, I never used eyeliner until I bought my first felt tip applicator one! This is highly pigmented and makes a super clean line.. PERFECT!

** Be A Bombshell Onyx Eyeliner

When I saw this perfume, I loved that I could try it! I saw a favourite YouTuber of mine Shaaanxo mention that she bought this recently and loved it! So when I received it, I knew is like it! It’s a really strange scent. It’s musky, floral, fruity and evening-y! I really like the bottle, too which they’ve designed to look good from whatever angle you look at it from! I love it when I get perfume samples in miniature versions of their full size bottles.. Looks super cute on my vanity!

20130913-015348.jpg
** Elizabeth Arden Untold perfume

I’m not usually too into hair care because I don’t show my hair.. Durr? But I don’t mind a serum every now and again because I don’t always like using conditioner on my hair. I tried this straight away because my hair had just dried and I quite like it. The serum is semi-runny and not too thick and absorbs really well. I applied it to the ends of my dry hair and it gave it a bit of shine and lessened any frizz that I had.. Nothing miraculous and I’m not too keen on the smell but I like the handy size and the bottle comes in a pump.. Bonus!

20130913-015354.jpg

20130913-015400.jpg
** Toni & Guy Classic Shine Gloss Serum

When I saw the next thing, I was quite surprised by the name.. I had heard of this old wives tale for a while no and the idea is exactly what the product name suggests! I like the consistency which is uber thick and it really moisturises well.. However, half of the sample was air.. WHICH SUCKS! But it’s handy because you can carry it in your bag to use on your cuticles, elbows and wherever you get dry!

KIKO, Maybelline and Essie Make Up haul!

20130711-232529.jpg

I know I’m a little late with my daily blog posts but hopefully, I’ve managed to adjust my routine what with fasting and everything.. So here goes my first post!!

I recently went to Westfield and couldn’t help but stop off at one of my new favourite make up stores: KIKO! They have amazing quality products and for really good value so I couldn’t resist some of their goodies! Fortunately for me, all of the stuff I liked was on offer in their sale section!

The first thing that caught my eye was this ‘Wet and Dry eyeshadow palette in Holi Vibrations’. I bought a few other palettes from this collection which I hauled in a previous blog post and I love them! These colours are perfect for summer! They’re bright but not too bright and the shimmer will look gorgeous in summer along with those lovely pastel colours! They have fall out but nothing major so HAPPY DAYS!

20130711-232825.jpg
Wet and Dry eyeshadow palette in Holi Vibrations £8.40

Having tried KIKO’s eye products only, I had a little dabble with these gorgeous blushes they have to offer! I had to get 2 because I could choose! They had a few to choose from but I chose the colours that would suit me beat! I like a subtle blush at the moment (a far cry from my previous look) and these have a beautiful finish.. The beige/gold colour on the end is shimmery so creates a lovely highlighted look!

20130711-232844.jpg

20130711-232908.jpg
Colour Explosion multi tone blush in Wild Sienna 01 £5.90

20130711-232925.jpg
Colour explosion multi tone blush in Active Mauve 03 £5.90

20130711-233410.jpg

And just as I was leaving the store, these grabbed my attention! When I tested them on my hand, I knew I’d use these constantly! This lovely lips and cheeks product has a lovely texture and is really well pigmented! They haven’t over-done the pigment because its to be used on the cheek too- I suppose they want their consumers to not look like clowns! I love the texture, the smell (like vanilla!). These completely remind me of Sleek Pout Polishes but are so much better.. In my opinion!

Glow Touch lips and cheeks in Pleasent Pink Azalea 04 £2.90

Then I made a cheeky stop to Boots and picked up some non-essential essentials ;)

What products have you tried from KIKO?

Limited edition Real Techniques Brushes

20130526-230734.jpg

Sam from Pixiwoo done it again with a new set if brushes that have had me ditch all my other brushes! If there’s one thing I love in a make up brush, it’s duo fibres!

I bought a MAC limited edition Duo fibre brush set a while back and haven’t touched it (I’m finding it hard to start using it cause its so pristine).

20130526-230738.jpg
**You can get them from Boots and Superdrug in the UK.

The brushes are uber soft and have such a good density to them! They apply effortlessly and pick up powders like a magnet and the eye shadow brush blends seamlessly! I really like the black and white design, too because it stands out from all my other brushes!

20130526-230904.jpg

I wish the brushes came in a limited edition travel case though because although the brushes look good, the foam padding they came in is not good for storing them in when using a make up bag.

Accessory Haul!

Yesterday I done a blog post where I showed you my new Rebecca Minkoff purple mini M.A.C, but not everyone can afford such an expensive bag! So here’s an alternative I found!

I got this bag because of the GORGEOUS colour! When I saw the Rebecca Minkoff bag and its size, I knew I wanted a slightly larger size so I could use it for travel and this bag is perfect!

I got this from WWW.JUSTFAB.COM and! You have to register and fill in a profile which is so tedious but you get your first product for £17.50! And because this bag was so cheap I didn’t mind! It’s massive and I love it!

I’ve been looking for metal rimmed glasses for a while but I hate looking online for glasses because you can’t see what they look like! I saw these from Next and they were £12.50!! BARGAIN! They look the bomb.com!
